On a Samsung PC running Windows, uninstall Samsung Update through the normal Windows app-removal controls. This removes the PC utility—not Windows Update, Galaxy phone software, or updates already installed on your computer.
If you mean automatic software downloads on a Galaxy phone or tablet, that is a separate setting; see Samsung’s Galaxy update instructions.
What Samsung Update does—and what uninstalling it changes
Samsung Update is a Windows utility for Samsung PCs. Samsung says it downloads and installs recommended apps and drivers for those computers. Removing it takes away that convenient Samsung Update route; it does not remove Windows Update or uninstall existing drivers.
Samsung says drivers may also be available through its model-specific Download Center and Windows Update. Built-in Windows drivers may be sufficient in some cases, but driver availability depends on the PC model and component.

Uninstall Samsung Update in Windows 10 or 11
Use either Windows route below. Labels can vary slightly by Windows version.
Option 1: Remove it from Start
- Open Start and locate Samsung Update.
- Right-click the app, or press and hold it on a touchscreen.
- Select Uninstall and follow any Windows prompts.
Option 2: Remove it from Settings
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Samsung Update.
- Select its More menu, then choose Uninstall.
- Confirm if Windows asks you to do so.
If Settings does not offer Uninstall
Microsoft documents Control Panel as another route: open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Samsung Update if it appears, and choose the uninstall option.

Can you still update Samsung PC drivers afterward?
Yes, if an appropriate driver is available through another route. Check Samsung’s Download Center for your exact PC model, or use Windows Update. Neither source is guaranteed to provide every driver for every model or component, so check the model-specific listing before relying on a replacement route.
If you meant updates on a Galaxy phone or tablet
Samsung Update is the Windows PC utility, not the control for Galaxy system updates. To stop automatic downloads over Wi-Fi, open Settings > Software update or Settings > System updates, then switch off Auto download over Wi-Fi. Menu names and availability vary by model, carrier, and software version.

This setting stops the specified automatic Wi-Fi download; it should not be treated as a way to disable every update mechanism. You can still check for and install an available update manually from the same settings area. Samsung also documents Smart Switch on a Windows PC or Mac as another way to install an available Galaxy update. Samsung recommends installing available system updates because they can improve the interface, security, and minor bugs. Its guidance says, “We recommend updating the software whenever a new version is available so you can make sure your device stays in tip-top shape.”

App updates and preinstalled apps have different controls. Samsung notes that the available choices depend on the app, model, software version, and carrier.

Revert an update to a preinstalled app
Only some preinstalled apps allow this. Open Settings > Apps, choose the app, tap More options, then select Uninstall updates if that option appears. It returns the app to its factory version.

Downloaded apps can normally be uninstalled. For some preloaded apps that cannot be removed, Disable may be available. Certain apps support essential functions and cannot be uninstalled or disabled. Samsung’s instructions cover these options in its guidance for managing Galaxy apps and uninstalling or disabling apps.
