To make a TaoTronics device louder, raise its own volume first, then check the volume on the phone, computer, TV, or other source sending the audio. The right control depends on whether you have earbuds, headphones, a soundbar, or a Bluetooth transmitter; identify the product and input mode before following model-specific steps.
Start with the control for your TaoTronics device
Button behavior differs across TaoTronics products. Use the instructions for your device category rather than assuming every TaoTronics product has the same controls.
Wireless earbuds
For the wireless earbud models covered in TaoTronics’ earbud guide, tap the right earbud’s touch control once to raise volume and the left one to lower it. A tone indicates that the minimum or maximum has been reached. Check your model’s manual if its touch controls work differently.
Bluetooth headphones
For the headphones covered in TaoTronics’ Bluetooth headphone guide, use a short press of Volume + to increase sound or Volume – to decrease it. Holding those buttons may trigger other functions, so use a short press for volume adjustment.

Soundbars
On the soundbar covered in TaoTronics’ soundbar guide, use Volume + or Volume -. In AUX mode, the guide says the soundbar’s controls do not work except Play/Pause, which mutes or unmutes. If the volume buttons seem unresponsive, check the selected input mode and the instructions for your exact model.
Check the audio source too
A TaoTronics device and its source have separate volume controls. After adjusting the device, raise the volume on the phone, computer, TV, or other source playing the audio. If only one source sounds quiet, its volume or output setting may be the cause.

If headphones are quiet on a Windows computer
TaoTronics’ headphone troubleshooting page describes a specific case involving over-ear headphones connected to Windows 8.1: if the headphones work normally with a phone or Mac but music is quiet on the computer, raise the computer’s music volume. This is advice for that documented setup, not a universal instruction for current Windows versions.
For low or silent call audio in that same computer setup, TaoTronics advises checking whether the hands-free option appears in the computer’s sound settings. If it is missing, the page suggests updating the Bluetooth driver. Treat this as a call-audio troubleshooting branch, not a fix for quiet music generally. For wired audio, check the connection path
If wired sound is quiet, distorted, or absent, check the connection before concluding the headphones have failed. TaoTronics recommends checking that the plug is fully inserted, trying another audio cable and another phone, and raising the source volume. If you are using a speaker, verify that its input is set to AUX when appropriate. These checks can help isolate a loose connection or source/input issue; they do not mean every quiet device needs a replacement cable.
For aircraft audio, TaoTronics notes that some planes use two AUX sockets for left and right channels and advises using an airline adapter in wired mode. This applies to that particular type of jack setup, not to everyday wired listening.

If a soundbar is quiet or silent
For the soundbar covered in TaoTronics’ guide, check the basics in this order:
- Confirm the audio cable is connected correctly.
- Check that playback is active and the TV or source is sending audio.
- Raise the soundbar volume gradually.
- Press Mute to restore sound if the soundbar may be muted.
- When applicable, set the TV’s audio output mode to match the soundbar’s selected mode.
Use the soundbar’s model-specific instructions if the input, controls, or TV menu labels differ.

If a Bluetooth transmitter cuts out during quiet passages
A transmitter or adapter is not a headphone: its input level and mute behavior can affect what reaches the headphones. TaoTronics says some of its 2-in-1 Bluetooth adapters stop transmitting when the sound falls below a decibel threshold, using a mute function intended to reduce noise and save power. If audio drops out only during quiet passages, check the source output level and adapter setup before treating the headphones as faulty. For a TaoTronics transmitter connected to a TV, the manufacturer’s FAQ describes selecting PCM for the source and connecting the transmitter to the appropriate output. TV ports and menu options vary, so confirm the setup for your transmitter and television in their manuals. TaoTronics also notes that low-latency playback requires aptX Low Latency support on the receiving Bluetooth device; that affects audio/video delay, not volume. Clean earbuds carefully and listen at a safe level
For poor earbud sound quality, TaoTronics advises removing debris and maintaining the product with a dry, soft cloth. Do not insert objects into the earbuds or use sharp tools or liquid cleaners.
Start with the volume low, then increase it gradually. TaoTronics advises against prolonged listening at high volume and against setting the sound so high that you cannot remain aware of your surroundings. Maximum volume is not a good routine fix for a problem that may come from the source, connection, or input mode.
When to consult the manual or seek support
If these checks do not resolve the problem, confirm the exact model and consult its manual; TaoTronics’ support page links to user manuals. For unresolved wired-audio problems, the manufacturer says a defective unit may be involved and points to support for warranty replacement. Eligibility depends on the product and current warranty terms, so verify those details with TaoTronics.
