To enable Wi-Fi Calling on Tracfone, connect your phone to Wi-Fi, search Settings for “Wi-Fi Calling,” switch it on, and follow the carrier prompts. You may need a compatible phone, a Wi-Fi Calling-enabled SIM or line, and a primary Wi-Fi address for emergency calls. The exact menu path depends on your phone.
Before you start: check phone and line eligibility
Tracfone says Wi-Fi Calling availability can depend on both a capable phone and a SIM enabled for the service. A missing setting may therefore be a compatibility or provisioning issue, not just a menu-location problem. Contact Tracfone to verify eligibility for your exact phone and line before troubleshooting further. See Tracfone’s terms and conditions.
Turn on Wi-Fi Calling
- Connect to Wi-Fi. Join a network with working internet access. A Wi-Fi connection without internet may not carry calls successfully.
- Search your phone’s Settings. Open Settings and search for “Wi-Fi Calling.” Android menu paths vary; the control is often under call settings. On iPhone, look for the Wi-Fi Calling control in Settings. Tracfone does not publish one universal menu path for every model. Verizon’s Wi-Fi Calling overview also describes how the setting location varies by device.
- Switch on Wi-Fi Calling. Follow any carrier prompts or terms shown on the phone.
- Enter your primary Wi-Fi address. Provide the address requested for Wi-Fi 911 emergency routing. Tracfone states that it will block Wi-Fi Calling if you do not provide this address.
- Check the connection indicator. Status labels differ by phone. If you cannot tell whether a call is using Wi-Fi Calling, consult support guidance for your specific device; Verizon’s support overview includes device-oriented help.
Why the Wi-Fi Calling option may be missing
- The phone is not compatible. Support depends on the exact device; ask Tracfone to confirm rather than relying on a generic list.
- The SIM or line is not enabled. Tracfone’s terms make availability conditional on a Wi-Fi Calling-enabled SIM, depending on the carrier.
- The setting is elsewhere. Search Settings for “Wi-Fi Calling” rather than assuming a particular menu path; Android paths vary by manufacturer and model.
Wi-Fi 911 address and safety limits
The primary address you provide is used to route Wi-Fi 911 calls. Update it if your primary Wi-Fi location changes, temporarily or permanently, using Tracfone’s online process or Customer Care. Tracfone says an address update may take 24 hours or more; its terms do not state a publication year for that estimate.

If you call emergency services from somewhere other than the registered address, the carrier may not know your actual location. Be ready to tell responders where you are. Tracfone also warns that Wi-Fi 911 may be limited or unavailable during power or internet outages, wireless-service interruptions, congestion, delays in address availability, or technical problems. Do not rely on Wi-Fi Calling as a guarantee that an emergency call will connect.

If setup or calls do not work
- Confirm with Tracfone that your phone and SIM or line are eligible.
- Check that the Wi-Fi network has internet access, then reconnect to it or restart the phone.
- Review the emergency address prompt and ensure the primary address was accepted and is current.
- If calls drop or perform poorly where Wi-Fi coverage is weak, ask your internet provider whether a Wi-Fi extender could improve coverage. An extender is optional and is not an activation requirement. Verizon’s Wi-Fi Calling guidance notes that signal and bandwidth affect service.
