To turn on G-SYNC for an Odyssey G7, enable the monitor’s Adaptive-Sync or FreeSync setting if its manual provides one, then open NVIDIA Control Panel and go to Display > Set up G-SYNC. The model matters: NVIDIA’s published G-SYNC Compatible listing covers the 2020 27-inch and 32-inch Odyssey G7, not every monitor sold under the G7 name. Check the label on the back of your display or its system-reported model before relying on that listing.
Enable G-SYNC in NVIDIA Control Panel
- Connect the Odyssey G7 to the NVIDIA GeForce GPU you intend to use. For manual G-SYNC enablement on an unlisted monitor, NVIDIA specifies a DisplayPort connection.
- Open the monitor’s on-screen menu and enable its variable refresh rate (VRR) option, if available. The setting may be called Adaptive-Sync or FreeSync; check the manual for your exact model rather than assuming the menu is the same across G7 generations.
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel. Under Display, select Set up G-SYNC. NVIDIA’s setup instructions use this path.
- Check Enable G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible if it is not already selected.
- Choose Full screen mode or Windowed and full screen mode. The second choice enables G-SYNC for windowed applications too; full-screen-only is an alternative if windowed applications cause problems.
- If NVIDIA Control Panel shows a display-specific option for the G7, select it for the monitor you want to configure, then follow any remaining instructions on the page.
- Open Manage 3D Settings and confirm Monitor Technology is set to G-SYNC/G-SYNC Compatible. Apply the changes.
These settings enable VRR through NVIDIA’s control panel, but the result still depends on the GPU, driver, connection, monitor settings, and application. A checked box does not guarantee identical behavior on every system.
Which Odyssey G7 models did NVIDIA list?
NVIDIA’s 2020 Game Ready Driver announcement lists two 2020 Odyssey G7 variants as G-SYNC Compatible. The ranges below are NVIDIA-published specifications, not independent measurements, and should not be assumed to apply to later G7 generations or other sizes.
| Model listed | Resolution | Published VRR range | Maximum refresh rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 Odyssey G7, 27-inch, VA | 2560 × 1440 | 60–240 Hz | 240 Hz |
| 2020 Odyssey G7, 32-inch, VA | 2560 × 1440 | 80–240 Hz | 240 Hz |
The ranges are from NVIDIA’s 2020 compatibility announcement. Samsung’s 2022 product information lists the legacy C27G75T and C32G75T family at 2560 × 1440 and up to 240 Hz; that shared resolution and ceiling do not establish that every G7 model has the same VRR range or validation.
#1 Best Overall
- Samsung’s 40” Odyssey G7 G75 WUHD 180Hz Curved Gaming Monitor provides breathtaking realism for epic gameplay.
- 40” 1000R curved display with a 21:9 screen and brilliant Ultrawide 4K resolution wraps around the field of vision for next-level gaming.
- VESA DisplayHDR 600 delivers more contrast, with deeper blacks and brighter whites for greater clarity even in dark scenes.
- 180Hz refresh rate and near-instant 1ms response time (GtG) minimizes lag for ultra-smooth gameplay.
Newer products also use the Odyssey G7 name. For example, Samsung’s 27-inch Odyssey G7 G70F product page describes a different display and notes that NVIDIA graphics-card compatibility is required. Check the exact model’s official specifications and NVIDIA’s compatibility information rather than carrying the 2020 listing over to it. Samsung’s February 2022 monitor information documents the legacy family.
Choose full-screen or windowed operation
Use Full screen mode if you primarily play games in exclusive full-screen mode or if windowed applications have trouble with G-SYNC. Choose Windowed and full screen mode if you want G-SYNC available to windowed applications as well. NVIDIA’s control-panel help describes the latter as the setting that enables G-SYNC for windowed applications.

If G-SYNC is missing or does not seem to work
- Confirm the GPU connection: make sure the G7 is connected to, and enabled on, the NVIDIA GPU. A port connected to another graphics device can prevent the expected NVIDIA options from appearing.
- Check the monitor menu: confirm the model’s VRR setting is enabled, using the label and steps in its manual.
- Check the cable and port: for NVIDIA’s manual enablement instructions on an unlisted VRR monitor, use DisplayPort. Verify that the cable is connected to the intended GPU and display input.
- Verify the exact model and driver: “Odyssey G7” covers more than one generation. NVIDIA’s published listing cited here is specifically for the 2020 27-inch and 32-inch models.
- Consider manual enablement only if unlisted: NVIDIA says an unlisted monitor can be enabled manually in NVIDIA Control Panel, but warns that it may work, work partly, or not work. Its manual enablement guidance covers DisplayPort, the monitor’s VRR setting, and the control-panel procedure.
For models outside NVIDIA’s cited 2020 listing, the available specifications do not establish the exact certification status or behavior on every system. Check the model-specific information before treating a successful manual toggle as proof of identical validation.
