If a website or browser-based app is missing content or will not work in Samsung Internet, turning off an installed blocker is a reversible troubleshooting step. To turn off Samsung’s in-app ad blocking when an app stops working, open the browser’s Ad blockers menu, switch off the installed blocker, and reload the page. Samsung’s browser menu may be labeled Menu or Tools, depending on the version. This setting affects pages in Samsung Internet; it does not turn off ad blocking across every app on your phone.
First match the setting to the symptom. If a page element or feature is missing, test the installed ad blocker. If a site action should open a new window but nothing happens, check the separate Block pop-ups setting. If ads appear over other apps or on the Home screen, investigate recently installed third-party apps instead. These are different problems with different controls.
Turn off an ad blocker in Samsung Internet
-
Open Samsung Internet and go to the page that is not working. Keeping the page in mind makes it easier to check whether changing the setting helped.

Tap the browser menu. Depending on the version, look for the three horizontal lines labeled Menu or the three vertical dots labeled Tools. Samsung’s US support instructions use both labels, so a difference in the wording does not necessarily mean you are in the wrong browser.

Tap Ad blockers. This menu manages compatible blocker apps used with Samsung Internet.
-
Switch off the installed blocker you want to test. If more than one blocker is listed, switch them off one at a time rather than changing all of them together. Testing them individually can help identify whether a particular blocker is affecting the page.
-
Return to the affected page and reload it. Check whether the missing content appears or the feature works. If the page still fails, the blocker may not be the cause; switching it off is a test, not a promise that every website or browser-based app will work.

Samsung describes these blockers as apps that prevent ads while browsing. Its Ad Blockers Development Guide explains that compatible blockers supply filters Samsung Internet uses when rendering web pages. That is why this is a browser-scoped setting: it changes filtering in Samsung Internet, not a universal ad-blocking switch for the phone.
Test the change without changing more than necessary
After switching off a blocker, reload the affected page and repeat the action that failed. If the page works, you have evidence that the blocker may have interfered with it. You can leave the blocker off while using that site, or turn it back on and disable it only when you need to test the site again. The setting is reversible.
If the problem persists, restore the blocker if you prefer to browse with it enabled. Then check whether the symptom points to another control, especially pop-up blocking. Changing several settings at once makes it harder to tell which setting mattered. Samsung’s instructions do not guarantee that disabling a blocker will fix every site issue, and a failure that remains after a reload may have another cause.
If the site needs to open a pop-up window
Pop-up blocking is separate from the installed ad blockers listed under Ad blockers. If the page itself loads but an action that should open a new window does nothing, test the pop-up control instead of assuming the content blocker is responsible:

In Samsung Internet, open Menu and tap Settings.
-
Tap Privacy dashboard.
-
Switch off Block pop-ups, then retry the action that needs to open the window.
Samsung’s support guidance treats this as a separate browser setting. Turning off Block pop-ups is relevant when the site needs a pop-up or new window; it is not the same as switching off an installed ad blocker that filters page content.
Allowing pop-ups can expose you to more unwanted or suspicious ads. Samsung warns that pop-ups may pose a potential malware risk and that allowing them can increase the number of ads shown while browsing. If you only need a pop-up to complete one task, consider turning Block pop-ups back on afterward. This restores the previous protection setting; it does not change the separate switches for installed ad blockers.
Choose the setting that matches the symptom
| What is happening | Setting or action to check | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| A page element or site feature is missing in Samsung Internet | Menu or Tools > Ad blockers; switch off an installed blocker and reload | Filters applied to web pages in Samsung Internet |
| A site needs to open a new window, but the action does nothing | Settings > Privacy dashboard > Block pop-ups; switch it off to test | Pop-ups in the browser |
| Ads appear over other apps or on the Home screen | Review recently installed or updated apps in Safe mode and uninstall a likely cause | Device-level third-party app troubleshooting, not Samsung Internet’s ad-blocker switch |
Use the distinction between a missing page element, a blocked new window, and ads appearing outside the browser to choose where to start. Disabling an installed content blocker will not necessarily allow pop-ups, and allowing pop-ups will not turn off the filters supplied by an installed blocker. Ads appearing on the Home screen are outside the scope of both Samsung Internet controls.

Turning off an ad blocker in Samsung Internet will not stop ads appearing over other apps or on the Home screen. Samsung Electronics America’s support guidance says pop-up ads in those places are often associated with a third-party app installed recently. Treat that as a separate troubleshooting issue rather than changing browser settings.
Samsung recommends starting the phone in Safe mode, reviewing apps installed or updated recently, and uninstalling an app you identify as a likely cause. Safe mode is part of the diagnostic process in Samsung’s guidance; the exact steps for entering it can vary by device. Avoid assuming that every recent app is responsible: review the recent installs or updates and remove the likely cause you identify. If the ads stop after removing it, that is a useful indication that the app was involved.
This device-level check addresses a different symptom from a website that fails only in Samsung Internet. If the ads occur only while browsing and a site feature is missing, start with the browser’s Ad blockers or Block pop-ups control as appropriate. If ads appear in unrelated apps or on the Home screen, the browser’s ad-blocker switch is not a system-wide control and is not the fix Samsung recommends.

What to expect from the setting
Samsung’s support description calls ad blockers apps used with its browser, and Samsung’s developer guide describes their role as supplying filters for Samsung Internet’s web-page rendering. The effect to expect is therefore limited: switching off an installed blocker stops that blocker’s filtering in Samsung Internet while it is off. It does not promise to remove every ad from a page, repair every site function, or change ads in other apps.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe developer guide lists support for Samsung Internet for Android 4.0 and later, while noting that access to compatible blockers can depend on store availability and device restrictions. Those compatibility details matter if someone is trying to find or install a blocker, but they do not add a purchase requirement to this troubleshooting task. If a blocker is already installed, Samsung’s support instructions let you switch it off from the browser’s Ad blockers menu; you do not need to buy one to change that setting.
The menu labels can also differ across versions. Samsung Electronics America’s support pages use both Tools and Menu in their browser instructions. If the label on your screen differs, look for the three-dot or three-line browser menu, then look for Ad blockers. If you are troubleshooting a pop-up rather than filtered page content, go to Settings and Privacy dashboard instead.

That symptom is outside Samsung Internet’s ad-blocker setting. Samsung recommends using Safe mode to review recently installed or updated apps and uninstall a likely cause. The exact steps to enter Safe mode vary by device.
What if turning off the ad blocker does not fix the site?
Reload the page and test the feature again first. If the failure involves a new window, check the separate Block pop-ups setting. If neither step helps, the blocker may not be the cause; Samsung does not promise that switching it off will resolve every site problem. You can turn the blocker back on if the test did not help.

For a page that is missing content in Samsung Internet, open Menu or Tools > Ad blockers, switch off an installed blocker, and reload. For a blocked new window, test Block pop-ups separately and consider restoring it afterward. Ads over other apps or on the Home screen call for Samsung’s Safe mode troubleshooting for recently installed apps, not a browser-wide ad-blocker switch.
