Start by identifying where the promotion appears. For a Samsung notification, open Settings > Notifications, find the sending app under recently sent notifications, and disable its notifications or only its promotional category. Then review Samsung Account marketing and personalization choices. Browser pop-ups, app overlays, lock-screen content, and charging-screen ads use different controls, so one switch cannot block every format.
First identify what kind of ad you are seeing
“Samsung ad” can describe several unrelated things. A sale alert in the notification shade is controlled by the app that posted the notification. A pop-up that appears while browsing is controlled by the browser or the website. An advert over other apps usually comes from an installed app with permission to draw over the screen. A lock-screen image or charging-screen promotion has its own possible sources.

Samsung UK support, updated 24 April 2026, advises checking recently sent notifications or long-pressing the next promotion. Samsung Saudi Arabia support, last updated 23 April 2026, separately addresses lock-screen and charging-screen behavior. Menu names can differ by Galaxy model, One UI version, app version, and country.
Stop a Samsung promotional notification at its source
This is the most direct fix for a sale, offer, app recommendation, or other promotion delivered as a normal Galaxy notification.

- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Open the list of apps or the section labelled Recently sent. On some versions, you may need to tap See all and change the filter to show the most recently used apps.
- Identify the app that sent the promotion. The app name shown in the notification is more reliable than guessing from the wording of the advert.
- Turn off that app’s notifications if you do not need any alerts from it.
- If the app offers notification categories, leave useful categories enabled and switch off the category labelled for promotions, marketing, recommendations, offers, or similar content.
If the advert is still visible, press and hold the notification, then tap Settings or the notification-controls button. This opens the sender’s notification page without requiring you to search through the full app list. Samsung’s labels vary, but the long-press route normally reveals the exact app and the available switches.
Disable only promotional categories when possible
Turning off every notification from an app may also hide security warnings, account messages, delivery updates, or other useful alerts. Category controls provide a narrower change. For example, an app may expose separate switches for general notifications, recommendations, and service updates. Keep the categories you rely on and disable only the promotional one.
Not every Samsung app exposes categories, and some versions group several message types under one switch. If there is no separate promotional category, you must choose between allowing all notifications from that app and blocking them all. You can revisit the same page later if you miss an important alert.
Review Samsung Account marketing and personalization settings
Notification permission controls what an app can deliver to your phone. Samsung Account privacy choices address a different layer: whether Samsung and participating partners may send marketing communications and whether information is used to tailor content or advertising. Review both layers instead of expecting one setting to perform the other’s job.
Turn off “Get news and special offers”
Samsung’s US account terms describe Get news and special offers as a choice that can enable relevant news, offers, and other information from Samsung and its partners through email, notifications, and online platforms. If this option is enabled in your account, switch it off when you do not want those optional promotional communications.
The exact path is region- and version-dependent. On many Galaxy phones, start at Settings > Samsung Account, then open the account’s privacy or security area. Look for marketing, communications, or special-offer consent and disable the relevant choice. If your phone does not show the same wording, open Settings search and search for Samsung Account, privacy, offers, or marketing.

Review Customization Service and personalised advertising
Customization Service (spelled Customisation Service on some regional pages) controls how Samsung uses certain information to tailor content and advertising. Samsung UK documents a route through Settings > Samsung Account > Privacy > Customisation Service. Samsung Saudi Arabia documents a route through Settings > Privacy > Customisation Service. These are regional and software-version variations, not two steps that must both appear on every phone.

Read the description beside each switch and turn off the choices you do not want. Disabling personalization reduces the data used to tailor recommendations; it does not necessarily disable every marketing message or every advert shown by an app, website, or Samsung service.
Changing these choices can make promotions less targeted and can reduce communications covered by the selected consent. It is not a universal ad remover. Samsung’s US terms say generic Samsung ads may still appear on online platforms when optional marketing features are off, and Samsung UK says turning off Customisation Service does not fully disable ads.
Block pop-ups in Chrome
Use browser controls when the advert opens as a web page, redirects you to another tab, or appears while browsing. These settings do not stop Galaxy Store or Samsung Account notifications.
- Open Chrome.
- Tap the three-dot menu, then Settings.
- Open Site settings.
- Tap Pop-ups and redirects and turn the setting off.
- Return to Site settings, open Ads, and turn that setting off if it is available on your version.
Chrome’s controls limit browser behavior; they cannot remove an advert generated by an installed app that is drawing over other applications. If only one website causes the problem, also review that site’s permissions and clear its site data from Chrome’s settings.

- Open Samsung Internet.
- Tap the menu button and open Settings.
- Tap Sites and downloads.
- Turn on Block pop-ups.
Samsung Internet also provides an Ad blockers area where you can choose a compatible blocker. That is an optional browser measure, not a remedy for promotional notifications posted by Samsung apps or other installed apps.

Deal with lock-screen and charging-screen promotions
Lock-screen ads
Samsung Saudi Arabia support states, “Samsung does not place ads on the lock screen.” The same guidance says lock-screen ads are usually caused by third-party apps or browser settings. Treat the statement as a diagnostic direction: identify the app or browser rather than changing unrelated Samsung notification switches.
Think back to apps installed or updated shortly before the lock-screen ads began. Check their notification permissions, special access, and in-app advertising settings. If the lock-screen content disappears after removing one app, that app was the source. If it remains, continue through the recently active apps and browser settings.
Ads that appear only while charging
Samsung Global Goals is a specific Samsung exception identified by Samsung Saudi Arabia support. If it is configured to show promotions while the phone charges:
- Open Samsung Global Goals.
- Open its settings or menu.
- Find Charge screen ads.
- Switch the option off.
The setting is relevant only to charging-screen promotions. It does not control ordinary notification banners, browser pop-ups, or advertisements inside unrelated apps.
Find and remove an app that creates pop-ups over other apps
Samsung UK support says, “Sometimes when you download certain apps, they push pop up ads onto your phone.” That statement applies to downloaded-app pop-ups, not to every Samsung promotion. If an advert appears when no browser is open, an app with overlay behavior is a strong possibility.
- Note when the pop-up appears and which app you were using immediately beforehand.
- Open Settings > Apps and sort or review recently installed and recently active apps, if your software provides those choices.
- Inspect unfamiliar apps, especially free utilities, launchers, wallpaper tools, cleaners, games, or apps installed immediately before the problem began.
- Open an app’s information page and review its notifications and permissions. If it has permission to appear on top of other apps, remove that access where the setting is available.
- Uninstall one suspicious app at a time, then use the phone normally long enough to determine whether the pop-ups stop.
Removing apps one at a time preserves a clear cause-and-effect trail. Do not uninstall system components at random; start with apps you recognize as recently installed or that you no longer need. If the adverts continue after the obvious candidates are removed, repeat the review with recently updated apps.
Preserve useful alerts while reducing promotions
Before disabling a whole app, consider what else it does. Galaxy Store, Samsung Account, or another service may use the same notification permission for account notices, security messages, updates, and offers. A category-level switch is preferable when it exists. If the app has only one combined channel, note the trade-off: blocking it is broader, while leaving it enabled may allow promotions to continue.

Make one change at a time and wait for the next occurrence. This makes it clear whether the notification switch, account preference, browser setting, or app removal solved the problem. If you later need a blocked alert, return to Settings > Notifications and re-enable the app or category.
What to do when the ads continue
- Check the notification sender again. A promotion may come from a different Samsung app than the one you first expected. Long-press the exact notification to confirm its source.
- Check both browser apps. If you use Chrome and Samsung Internet, configure the browser that actually displays the pop-up. Browser settings do not affect notifications from apps.
- Review newly installed and recently active apps. A third-party overlay can continue even after browser pop-ups are blocked.
- Restart after changing permissions. A restart can clear an already-running process, although it will not fix an app that is still allowed to generate adverts.
- Use Samsung Members for unresolved cases. Samsung UK suggests seeking help through Samsung Members when persistent pop-ups remain and notes that persistent pop-ups may indicate a virus. That is a possibility, not a diagnosis; confirm the source before assuming the phone is infected.

Why the menus may not match your Galaxy phone
Samsung publishes support instructions for particular regions and software builds. The UK pages use “Customisation,” while other devices may use “Customization.” One phone may place the service under Samsung Account privacy; another may expose it under the main Privacy menu. Notification categories can also differ by app and One UI version.
When a label is missing, use Settings search for the distinctive term—Notifications, Recently sent, Customization Service, special offers, or Charge screen ads. Open the notification itself whenever possible, because its long-press controls bypass much of the menu variation. The guidance described here is based on Samsung UK and Samsung Saudi Arabia support and US Samsung Account terms; availability and wording can change by model, region, and software update.
A practical order of operations
For a single unwanted Samsung sale alert, use the notification sender controls first. If you want fewer Samsung-targeted communications generally, review both Get news and special offers and Customization Service. If the advert is a web pop-up, change the browser settings instead. If it appears over other apps or on the lock screen, investigate recently installed apps. If it appears only during charging, check Samsung Global Goals. This sequence changes the narrowest relevant setting before you disable useful notifications or remove unrelated apps.

How do I mute one Samsung promotional notification without blocking everything?
Open Settings > Notifications and inspect Recently sent to identify the app. If notification categories are available, disable only the category named promotions, offers, marketing, or recommendations. Will turning off Customization Service remove every Samsung ad?

Why do the menu names on my Galaxy differ?
Samsung’s routes vary by model, One UI and app version, and country. The UK documentation uses Customisation Service, while another region may place the same control under Privacy or Samsung Account. Use Settings search and the notification’s long-press controls when labels do not match.
