To stop future proactive Google Health Coach messages from appearing on the Today tab, open the Google Health app and go to Profile picture or initial > Google Health settings > Coach. Under Coach messages on Today, select No Coach insights, then tap the Back arrow to save.
Turn off proactive Today-tab insights
- Open the Google Health app.
- Tap your profile picture or initial in the top-right corner.
- Tap Google Health settings, then Coach.
- Find Coach messages on Today.
- Select No Coach insights.
- Tap the Back arrow. This saves the choice.
This setting prevents future proactive Coach messages from being shown on the Today tab. It is the narrowest way to reduce Coach prompts while keeping the rest of the Coach available.
What “No Coach insights” changes
No Coach insights controls one surface only: proactive messages on the Today tab going forward. It does not remove Google Health Coach, disable Coach features elsewhere in the app, or erase information already stored.

- The Coach remains available unless you turn it off separately.
- Insights shown on other tabs are not disabled by this selection.
- Past Today-tab insights remain in place; this is not a deletion command.
- Past conversations, insight history and health data are not deleted.
Google describes the setting as affecting “proactive messages on the Today tab moving forward.” The wording is important: it changes what is presented in the future, not what has already been collected or displayed.

Choose the control that matches your goal
Google provides separate controls for in-app proactive messages, the Coach feature itself, push notifications and stored conversations. Use the smallest control that solves your problem.

When hiding Today-tab insights is the right choice
Select No Coach insights when you still want to use Google Health Coach but do not want unsolicited cards or messages on the Today tab. This preserves access to the rest of the Coach while changing only the proactive Today-tab experience.
For example, someone may want to ask Coach questions on demand but not receive automatic prompts while reviewing the Today tab. The Today setting handles that preference without changing Coach consent or deleting existing records.

Turn off Google Health Coach completely
If your goal is to stop using Coach and stop data collection or processing for these Coach features going forward, use the separate full opt-out flow. Do not substitute No Coach insights; that option is intentionally narrower.
- Open Google Health.
- Tap your profile picture or initial at the top right.
- Open Google Health settings, then Coach.
- Scroll down and tap Turn off.
- On Feature privacy controls, select Google Health Coach.
- Tap Turn off to confirm.
Google’s data and personalization instructions describe this broader action as revoking Coach consent and stopping data from being collected or processed for these features moving forward. It is a different decision from hiding only proactive Today-tab messages.
Stop Coach push notifications separately
Push alerts have their own switch. If the problem is notifications appearing outside the app, turn off Coaching notifications rather than changing the Today-tab insight preference.

- Open the Google Health app.
- Tap the profile picture or initial.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Push notifications.
- Switch Coaching off.
This controls the push-notification channel. It does not delete conversations, disable the Coach, or change the separate setting for proactive messages displayed inside the Today tab.
Delete Coach conversations without disabling the feature
Delete one conversation
- Open Ask Coach.
- Open History.
- Find the conversation you want to remove.
- Open its More menu.
- Tap Delete.
This removes the selected conversation according to Google’s documented conversation controls. It does not change whether future proactive insights appear.
Delete all Coach conversation data
- Open Google Health settings.
- Tap Manage data and privacy.
- Tap Manage your data.
- Open Coach activity.
- Tap Conversations.
- Choose Delete all conversations data.
Conversation deletion and Coach opt-out address different things. Deleting conversations does not erase general health data, and hiding Today-tab insights does not delete conversations.

What happens to existing insights and health data
Choosing No Coach insights is a display preference for future Today-tab messages. Google’s documentation does not describe it as a history-cleanup or data-erasure action.
- Previously displayed Today-tab insights are not removed by the toggle.
- Insight history is not erased.
- Past Coach conversations remain unless you delete them through Ask Coach > History or the conversation-data controls.
- Health data is not deleted by changing the Today-tab preference.
If you need a privacy change that affects Coach consent and future processing, use the full Turn off flow under Feature privacy controls instead.
How to verify the setting
After selecting No Coach insights, tap the Back arrow as directed. Return to Google Health settings > Coach and check that Coach messages on Today still shows the no-insights choice. The setting is intended for messages that would appear in the future; an older card or previously saved insight may still be visible because the preference does not delete history.

If you also disabled Coaching under push notifications, verify that switch separately. The two controls are independent, so changing one does not confirm the state of the other.
If “Coach messages on Today” is missing
Google’s published instructions establish the path above but do not confirm that every Google Health app version or account shows identical labels. If the option is not present, the available documentation does not identify the cause.
- Confirm that you opened the Google Health app rather than a general device settings screen.
- Start from the profile picture or initial, then open Google Health settings and Coach; the Today-tab control is nested there.
- Do not assume that turning off push notifications will hide in-app Today-tab messages; those controls are separate.
- If you need Coach-wide privacy protection and the Today-tab option is unavailable, use the documented Turn off path only if that control is actually shown.
Because the official instructions do not document a universal label or version guarantee, the exact wording on your account may differ.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Turning off the wrong setting: No Coach insights hides future Today-tab messages; it does not turn off Coach.
- Expecting old cards to disappear: the setting does not delete past insights or insight history.
- Confusing push alerts with in-app messages: use Settings > Push notifications > Coaching for notification banners and alerts.
- Assuming conversation deletion changes consent: deleting one or all conversations does not itself opt out of Coach processing.
- Expecting health data to be erased: none of the Today-tab steps is a general health-data deletion command.
Which action should you take?
- Choose No Coach insights if you want to keep Coach but remove future proactive Today-tab messages.
- Turn off Coaching push notifications if alerts are the problem but you still want in-app Coach access.
- Use the full Google Health Coach > Turn off privacy flow if you want to stop Coach consent and future Coach data collection or processing.
- Delete an individual conversation or all conversation data when your goal is to remove stored Coach chats rather than change how Coach operates.
