There is no single Disney-wide “turn off chat” switch. The correct control depends on the game, platform, and the kind of sharing you want to stop. The official account-level route for Disney x Epic experiences is to unlink MyDisney from your Epic Games account. Broader advertising, cookie, sale, and sharing choices are handled in the Walt Disney Privacy Center. In-game text or voice controls must be identified from the specific game and console; the available official material does not establish one universal menu path for an unnamed Disney title.
If you are referring to Nintendo Switch 2 GameChat rather than a game’s own chat system, Nintendo provides separate controls for muting the microphone, disabling video or screen sharing, and reviewing GameChat data-processing consent. Those settings should not be generalized to every Disney game.
First identify what you are trying to disable

Why the game title and platform matter
The title “Disney’s new game” is not specific enough to identify a verified chat menu. Disney publishes or licenses experiences on different platforms, and each game can implement communication differently. A title may use its own account system, a console-level service, or both. Before changing anything, record these details:
- The exact game title as shown on the console, launcher, or store page.
- The platform and hardware model, such as a console, PC launcher, or mobile device.
- The account currently signed in to the game, including whether a MyDisney and Epic account are linked.
- Whether you want to mute your microphone, prevent other players’ messages, disable all communication, or stop a particular data connection.
- Your country or region, because Disney privacy choices can differ by jurisdiction.
Do not assume that a Disney+ profile setting, a console family setting, or an Epic account setting controls every communication feature in the game. Confirm which service owns the control before changing it.
Stop documented Disney x Epic account sharing
Epic’s support documentation says that linking an Epic Games account with a MyDisney account shares Epic account information with Disney. The listed information includes the Epic account ID, display name, language, linked-account display names, and progress and gameplay data in Disney x Epic Games experiences.
Unlink MyDisney from Epic
- Sign in to the Epic Games account used with the Disney experience.
- Open your Epic Games account settings.
- Select Linked Accounts.
- Find the linked MyDisney account.
- Choose the option to unlink that MyDisney account and confirm the change when prompted.
Epic states that unlinking removes the MyDisney connection and stops the documented Disney x Epic account and gameplay-data sharing. The setting is account-level, so it is not limited to one character, device, or individual game session.
Understand the side effect before confirming
Unlinking can affect Disney x Epic integrations or progress-related features that depend on the connection. The available documentation does not promise that every game will preserve, merge, or restore progress after an account is unlinked. If progress, rewards, cross-service entitlements, or sign-in convenience matter to you, read the confirmation screen and the game’s support information before proceeding.
Unlinking also does not mean that Disney or Epic instantly erase every record they may already hold. It stops the specific linked-account connection described by Epic; other processing, retention, security logs, or legal obligations may be governed by each company’s privacy policy and your regional rights.

Verify that the connection is gone
- Return to Epic account settings and open Linked Accounts again.
- Confirm that MyDisney is no longer listed as a connected account.
- Sign out and back in only if the service asks you to refresh the account state; do not repeatedly unlink and relink while troubleshooting.
- Check the game’s account screen for a sign-in or integration warning. A prompt to reconnect indicates that the integration is no longer active, not that all game data has been deleted.
Use Disney’s broader privacy controls
The Walt Disney Privacy Center provides controls for targeted advertising, the sale or sharing of personal information, and cookies where those choices are available. Disney’s privacy policy also describes product-level controls, including video-data-sharing and parental controls, and directs users to Privacy Choices, MyDisney account management, and regional controls.
Choose the right Disney control
- Targeted advertising: Use the advertising choice presented in the Privacy Center if you want to limit the applicable advertising activity.
- Sale or sharing of personal information: Use the corresponding privacy choice where it is offered for your location and product.
- Cookies: Review cookie controls when the Privacy Center presents them for the site or service you are using.
- Product-level settings: Follow the control identified for the particular Disney product, account, or feature. A setting described for one product should not be assumed to apply to another.
- Regional rights: Availability and wording can depend on jurisdiction. Use the regional option that matches your residence rather than selecting a different region to obtain an unrelated control.
These choices address the categories shown by Disney’s privacy tools. They are separate from muting a microphone or turning off a game’s text chat, and they may not stop every form of operational, security, fraud-prevention, or legally required processing.
What to do if a privacy option is missing
A missing toggle does not prove that the setting is permanently unavailable. Disney says controls can be product- and region-dependent. Confirm that you are using the correct Privacy Center or MyDisney account, check whether the product has its own privacy page, and make sure the browser or app is signed in to the account whose choices you want to change. If the control still does not appear, the option may not be offered for that product or jurisdiction.
Find and disable in-game text chat or voice chat
Because the game title and platform are not identified, there is no verified button-by-button path that can safely be presented as “the Disney” procedure. Use the game’s own documentation or support screen for the exact labels. The following process helps you locate the correct control without confusing it with account privacy:
- Launch the game and open its Settings, Options, or equivalent menu.
- Look for sections named Communication, Social, Safety, Privacy, Audio, or Parental Controls.
- For voice, look for a microphone input, voice chat, party chat, proximity chat, or “allow voice” option. Set it to Off, Disabled, or the equivalent label, if the title provides one.
- For text, look for text chat, messages, direct messages, invitations, or player interaction. Disable the relevant category rather than changing an unrelated notification setting.
- Save the change, leave the menu, and test in a private or controlled session. A notification mute may silence alerts while still allowing messages or audio to be transmitted, so test the communication function itself.
- If no game-level control exists, check the platform’s communication, family, or account-safety settings. Do not assume that a platform mute changes the game’s own account permissions.
If you provide the exact title and platform, the game publisher’s documented path can be checked separately. Until then, avoid instructions that name a particular menu or button as universal.

Nintendo Switch 2 GameChat: use this only when it is the service involved
Nintendo documents a separate GameChat settings menu for Nintendo Switch 2. These controls apply to GameChat, not automatically to every Disney game’s built-in communication system.

Mute the microphone
Open the GameChat settings menu and use the microphone control to mute yourself. Muting prevents your microphone audio from being sent through GameChat; it does not by itself disable text communication or other forms of data processing.
Turn video and screen sharing on or off
The same GameChat settings provide controls for video and screen sharing. Switch each feature off if you do not want your camera feed or shared screen transmitted through GameChat. These are separate from the microphone control, so check all three settings if you want communication limited to no audio, video, or screen feed.
Review or withdraw GameChat data-processing consent
Nintendo also provides a way to review or withdraw consent to GameChat data processing in its GameChat settings. Read the displayed terms and consent status carefully before changing it. Nintendo states that declining the GameChat terms prevents use of the service, so withdrawing consent can have a larger effect than muting a microphone.
These Nintendo controls should be used only when the communication you are trying to stop is actually Nintendo GameChat. They do not prove that a Disney title has the same menu, and they do not replace unlinking MyDisney from Epic when your goal is to stop the documented Disney x Epic account connection.

Do not use Disney+ parental controls for game chat
Disney+ parental controls are managed in a supported browser or the Disney+ mobile app. They include profile PINs, Junior Mode, content ratings, restrictions on creating profiles, and a setting for unrated or live content where offered.
Those controls govern Disney+ profiles and viewing. The available documentation does not establish that they mute a game microphone, hide game messages, block player invitations, or change Epic account sharing. If a game is installed on a device that also runs Disney+, changing a Disney+ profile does not substitute for changing the game or platform settings.

Troubleshooting common situations
“I muted voice, but other players can still message me”
Microphone and text systems are usually separate controls. Reopen the game’s communication or social settings and look specifically for text chat, direct messages, player interaction, or invitations. If the game has no such option, check the platform’s account-safety controls.
“I changed Disney privacy choices, but the game still has chat”
Disney Privacy Center choices concern the privacy categories displayed there, such as advertising, sale or sharing, cookies, or product-level options. They are not documented as a universal game-chat switch. Use the game or platform communication controls for chat and voice.

Confirm that you are signed in to the Epic account used by the Disney experience. If MyDisney is not listed, that Epic account may not be linked, or the game may use a different integration. Do not unlink an unrelated account simply because it has a similar display name.

“Unlinking broke a Disney feature”
Unlinking removes the MyDisney connection and can affect Disney x Epic integrations or progress-related features. Review the game’s account-recovery guidance before relinking. The available material does not guarantee how a particular title handles saved progress, rewards, or entitlements after a link is removed.
“I am on Nintendo Switch 2, but the game does not use GameChat”
GameChat settings affect Nintendo’s GameChat service. If the title has its own voice or messaging system, change that game’s settings instead. A GameChat microphone mute cannot be treated as proof that the game’s internal voice channel is disabled.

- Write down the exact game title, platform, and account used.
- Decide whether your objective is muting audio, blocking messages, disabling a camera or screen feed, unlinking MyDisney, or changing Disney advertising and sharing choices.
- Change only the control that matches that objective.
- Read any warning about lost integrations, unavailable features, or consent before confirming.
- Verify the result in the same account and service: test communication in a private session, recheck the Linked Accounts list, or review the displayed privacy-choice status.
- Keep Disney+ parental controls separate from game settings unless your goal is only to restrict Disney+ viewing.
The safest answer for an unidentified Disney game is therefore conditional: use the game’s own communication settings for chat and voice, unlink MyDisney in Epic’s Linked Accounts page for the documented Disney x Epic connection, and use Disney’s Privacy Center for broader privacy choices.
