For The Witcher 3 visual glitches on PC, start with CD PROJEKT RED’s sequence: update or clean-install your graphics driver, verify the game files in your launcher, and test an earlier save if available. Match the steps to the symptom—VSync is a targeted check for screen tearing, not a fix for every kind of flicker, texture problem, or artifact. If the issue remains after relaunching, record it and report it to the developer.
Start with the symptom you can see
A visual glitch alone does not identify its cause. The game’s official support guidance covers general troubleshooting, but it cannot determine whether a particular PC’s issue comes from its installation, driver, save, or another factor.
- Horizontal image split or tearing: Check whether VSync is disabled. Steam Support notes that disabled VSync can cause tearing and artifacts; this is a narrow check, not a general cure for corrupted textures or missing geometry. Steam Support: Refresh Rate and VSYNC.
- Glitched, corrupted, or missing textures: Verify or repair the game files first. CD PROJEKT RED identifies corrupted files as one possible cause of glitched graphics. Verify integrity of game files.
- Problem started after a driver update: Test the previous driver version, as the developer recommends, and report a suspected regression. This is an isolation step, not proof that the update caused the issue. Performance issues.
- Problem appears in one location or on one save: Try a save from before the issue began. This can help distinguish a location- or save-specific problem from one that follows the game more broadly.
Follow the core troubleshooting sequence
1. Update or clean-install the graphics driver
Use the official visual-issue checklist from CD PROJEKT RED. Its instructions call for removing older drivers and clean-installing the current package for NVIDIA and Intel; for AMD, they call for using AMD Cleanup Utility before a clean installation. Follow the current instructions for your GPU vendor, since driver packages and procedures can change. I want to report a visual issue.
2. Verify or repair the game files
Choose the workflow for the launcher where you installed the game. Interface labels may change; if a label differs, use the launcher’s current verification or repair option.

These are the workflows listed by CD PROJEKT RED; consult its file-verification instructions if the launcher’s current layout differs. File verification checks the installation; it does not establish that damaged files were the cause unless the problem changes afterward.
3. Test an earlier save

4. Relaunch and check whether it persists
After making a change, relaunch the game and reproduce the same scene or condition where possible. Change one relevant setting or component at a time so you can tell which step affected the symptom. If the issue is still reproducible, capture a clear video and submit a report to CD PROJEKT RED using its visual-issue support page.
Use driver rollback and overlays as isolation steps
If the glitch began immediately after a graphics-driver update, CD PROJEKT RED’s performance guidance recommends trying the previous driver version. It also suggests disabling overlay features and unnecessary background applications while troubleshooting. Avoid assuming that a glitch proves the GPU is failing, the PC is overheating, a particular graphics API is responsible, or a mod is incompatible. The available support steps do not establish those diagnoses for an unspecified problem.
