Start by checking your PC against the game’s current Steam demo requirements: Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, 50 GB of free space, an SSD, and a CPU and GPU at least at the listed minimum tier. Those are demo specifications, not a promise of smooth performance, and Steam says they may change before final release. No verified Valor Mortis-specific fix for crashes, stuttering, or low FPS is established by the available information, so use the checks below as troubleshooting—not guaranteed cures.
Check whether your PC meets the demo requirements
Steam currently marks Valor Mortis as not yet available and lists these specifications for its demo. The store page warns, “This demo spec is subject to change for the final release.”

Compare your actual processor and graphics card with the tiers rather than assuming that a computer’s age or a component’s brand determines whether it qualifies. The Steam listing explicitly says an SSD is required. If your PC falls below a minimum, that is a meaningful compatibility concern; if it meets or exceeds minimum, it still does not guarantee a particular frame rate. Steam Support notes that meeting system requirements alone does not ensure high FPS or strong in-game performance.

1. Confirm the installation drive
If Valor Mortis is installed on a hard disk drive, move or reinstall it on an SSD before testing again. The listing requires an SSD, but changing storage is not a confirmed fix for every crash or performance symptom.

2. Reduce background load
Close applications you do not need while playing, especially those using substantial memory or system resources. Steam Support recommends closing unnecessary background applications and freeing memory as a general performance check.
3. Check drivers and lower demanding settings
Check that your graphics and other relevant component drivers are current. If performance remains poor, lower the game’s resolution or demanding video options, then test. Steam Support recommends these general measures; they are not Valor Mortis-specific fixes. Change one setting at a time and observe the result so you can identify whether it affected the symptom.

4. Escalate game-specific crashes or errors
If the game keeps crashing, or displays a specific error such as the reported D3D12core error, use the game’s support route on Steam to contact the developer. Steam Support directs players to the third-party game’s support team when an issue requires game-specific help. An isolated error report does not establish a confirmed cause or universal remedy.
5. Send a reproducible report
When reporting a crash or repeatable stutter, include enough detail for the developer to distinguish a game issue from a system-specific one:

- Your CPU, GPU, and installed RAM
- Your Windows version and driver version
- Resolution and graphics settings
- Whether the game is on an SSD
- The action immediately before a crash, and steps that reliably reproduce it
The Steam community feedback thread contains player reports and invites demo feedback, but it is not an official diagnosis or a verified fix.

Steam feedback includes individual reports of stuttering, crashes, low FPS, and a D3D12core error. These are anecdotes: they do not establish how common the problems are, what causes them, or whether one remedy works generally.

In an October 6, 2025 pre-alpha playtest announcement, the developer said performance and optimization still needed work and listed automatic hardware detection among known issues for that build. That statement is historical context for the pre-alpha playtest; it does not confirm that the current demo has the same issues.
When a generic PC tweak is the wrong next step
There is no established Valor Mortis-specific basis here for arbitrary launch commands, configuration-file edits, registry changes, driver-cleaner utilities, or buying new hardware. Avoid treating such changes as proven fixes. If the requirements check and general Steam troubleshooting do not help, provide a reproducible report through the developer’s Steam support route rather than making risky system changes without a diagnosed cause.
