If your OnePlus phone is charging more slowly than expected, start by checking the entire power path: wall outlet, charger, cable, phone port, temperature and what the phone is doing while it charges. Use the charger and cable specified for your exact model and region, then test from a known-good outlet. OnePlus identifies fast-charge problems separately from normal-charge problems, so a lower-than-advertised rate is not automatically a hardware failure.

Work through the checks below in order. They begin with reversible causes and end with model-specific support or repair. Stop using the phone and seek service immediately if the battery is unusually hot, swollen, distorted, discolored or leaking.

First, identify what “slow charging” means

Charging behavior differs between OnePlus models, software versions, chargers and regions. SUPERVOOC branding does not mean every OnePlus phone accepts the same power level, and a charger that works with one model may not deliver that model’s fastest mode on another. Check the phone’s product information or user manual before judging its rate.

Slow charging versus no charging

  • Slow charging: the battery percentage rises, but the phone does not show its expected fast-charge indication or takes noticeably longer than it normally does.
  • No charging: the percentage does not rise, the phone repeatedly connects and disconnects, or it shows no charging symbol. Treat this as a different fault path.
  • Normal charging instead of fast charging: the phone charges reliably but does not enter its higher-speed mode. This can result from accessory compatibility, temperature, settings or model limitations.

Record the model name, region, charger and cable you are using, whether the phone displays a fast-charge message, and whether the problem occurs from more than one outlet. That information makes later support diagnosis more useful.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Use the correct charger and cable for your exact model

OnePlus recommends original accessories because they are designed to provide more stable voltage and current. The correct combination is model- and region-specific; do not infer maximum charging speed from the SUPERVOOC name alone.

Check the accessory path

  1. Unplug the charger and inspect the wall plug, power brick, USB connectors and cable for cuts, bent contacts, looseness, melted areas or discoloration.
  2. If you have the charger and cable supplied with the phone, test with those first. If they are unavailable, verify compatibility in the manual or official product information for your exact model and region.
  3. Connect the cable firmly at both ends. A connector that feels loose or falls out with slight movement is a likely source of intermittent or reduced charging.
  4. Test a second known-good cable and compatible charger one at a time. Changing both at once can hide which component caused the problem.

Do not use damaged or unsafe accessories. A third-party charger may charge the phone, yet fail to negotiate the phone’s fast-charge mode. A replacement should be selected only after confirming the model’s requirements; an exact charger SKU or maximum rate cannot be assumed for an unspecified OnePlus phone.

Test the wall outlet and power source

A poor outlet, overloaded extension lead or unstable power strip can reduce charging performance even when the phone and charger are healthy. Plug the charger directly into a known-good wall outlet for a controlled test.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Outlet test

  1. Disconnect the charger from extension cords, travel adapters and power strips.
  2. Use a different wall outlet that reliably powers another appliance.
  3. Reconnect the same compatible charger and cable, then check whether the phone shows its usual charging indication.
  4. If charging improves, replace or stop using the suspect outlet or power accessory rather than blaming the phone.

Keep the charger’s plug and cable dry. If the outlet, plug or brick becomes hot, smells burnt, sparks or shows physical damage, stop using it and have the electrical equipment assessed.

Inspect the phone’s charging socket safely

OnePlus manuals warn that a dirty socket can cause poor contact. Pocket lint and dust may prevent the connector from seating fully, producing low or intermittent power.

What to do

  • Shut down or disconnect the phone before inspecting the port in good light.
  • Look for visible debris, corrosion or a connector that appears physically damaged.
  • Reconnect the cable gently and confirm that it sits securely without force.

Do not poke metal objects into the phone port. Model-specific cleaning methods were not established here, so avoid improvised tools or liquids that could damage contacts. If debris is compacted, the connector is bent or the port is loose, use an authorized service route.

Bring the phone into the right temperature range

Temperature control can limit charging speed. OnePlus’s general charging guidance recommends an environment between 15°C and 35°C. The OnePlus 11 manual states that fast-charge mode may be unavailable below 15°C or above 35°C. Those thresholds are useful operating guidance, not a universal hardware specification for every OnePlus model.

If the phone is hot

  1. Unplug it if it is unusually hot and remove any thick case that traps heat.
  2. Move it out of direct sun and away from heaters, a car dashboard or other heat sources.
  3. Let it return to a normal room temperature before trying again.
  4. Do not cool it with ice, a freezer or liquid; condensation can cause additional damage.

If the phone is cold

Allow a cold phone to warm gradually indoors before charging. Avoid charging it immediately after bringing it in from freezing conditions. If fast charging still does not engage once the device is within the recommended range, continue with the accessory and workload checks.

Reduce the phone’s workload while it charges

OnePlus suggests avoiding activities that consume substantial power during charging. Gaming, video recording, navigation, hotspot use and large file transfers can consume much of the incoming power, making the battery percentage rise slowly even when the charger is working normally.

Low-load charging test

  1. Save your work and stop games, video calls and large downloads or file transfers.
  2. Close unnecessary background apps.
  3. Turn on Airplane Mode if you can temporarily go without cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
  4. Lock the screen and leave the phone untouched for several minutes.
  5. Check whether the charging indication and battery percentage now rise more quickly.

These are speed suggestions, not guaranteed repairs. If the phone remains slow while idle in Airplane Mode with a suitable charger, the cause is less likely to be foreground activity.

Compare the likely causes

What you observe Most useful next check What the result tells you
Charging improves with another outlet Stop using the original outlet, strip or extension lead The power source was limiting or interrupting power
Another cable restores fast charging Retire the damaged or incompatible cable The cable was the repeatable fault
Fast charging returns after cooling or warming Keep the phone within the recommended temperature range Temperature protection had limited the mode
Charging is faster with the screen off and Airplane Mode on Reduce workload during future charging sessions Power use was offsetting part of the incoming charge
Every suitable charger and outlet is slow Check the exact model manual and regional support A device-side, software or model-specific issue remains possible
The percentage does not rise at all Follow a no-charge support path rather than a speed-only path This is not merely reduced fast-charge performance

Confirm that fast-charge mode is available for your model

Fast charging depends on the phone, charger, cable, firmware, temperature and regional configuration. A phone can be operating normally in a lower charging mode if the accessory is not recognized as compatible or if protective limits are active.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use official model information

  1. Open the phone’s Settings and note the exact model designation and software version.
  2. Check the user manual or official product page for charging requirements, supported modes and regional differences.
  3. Compare those requirements with the markings on your charger and cable.
  4. Look for the phone’s expected fast-charge indication when you connect the verified accessories.

Do not treat a marketing claim about SUPERVOOC as an independent test result or as proof that a particular charger reaches a particular wattage on your phone. The supported rate is the one specified for your model and region.

Restart and retest after the basic checks

A temporary software process can keep the phone busy or interfere with charging negotiation. After stopping high-load activity and bringing the phone to a normal temperature, restart it and repeat the controlled test.

  1. Disconnect the charger.
  2. Restart the OnePlus phone using the on-screen power menu.
  3. After it boots, avoid opening demanding apps.
  4. Connect the verified charger and cable to the known-good wall outlet.
  5. Check the charging indication and battery percentage after several minutes with the screen locked.

A restart is a diagnostic step, not a substitute for compatible hardware. If the same result occurs repeatedly under controlled conditions, record it for support.

When to stop troubleshooting and contact OnePlus

Use the regional OnePlus fast-charge or normal-charge support route when the problem persists across a suitable charger, cable and outlet, at a safe temperature and with the phone largely idle. Regional support pages use separate categories for fast-charge issues and normal-charge issues, so choose the category that matches the observed behavior.

Information to provide

  • Exact OnePlus model and region of purchase
  • Software version, if requested by support
  • Charger and cable model or whether they are original accessories
  • Whether the phone shows a fast-charge indication
  • Outlets and accessory combinations already tested
  • Ambient conditions and whether the phone was hot or cold
  • Whether charging fails completely, disconnects repeatedly or is simply slower

Support and repair options vary by country. The appropriate manual, authorized diagnosis and spare-parts route are regional; do not assume that a service path advertised in one country applies elsewhere.

Battery safety: symptoms that require immediate action

Unusually high heat, a bulging or distorted back, discoloration, chemical odor or leaking fluid can indicate battery damage. Stop charging, move the phone away from combustible materials if it is safe to do so, and contact OnePlus or an authorized service provider. Do not puncture, squeeze, open or continue using a visibly damaged battery.

If the phone becomes hot only during heavy gaming but returns to normal when idle, reduce the workload and monitor it. Persistent or extreme heat while idle or charging should be treated as a safety issue rather than a speed inconvenience.

A repeatable troubleshooting checklist

  • Identify whether the phone is slow, not charging, or charging without fast-charge mode.
  • Confirm the exact model and region before selecting accessories.
  • Inspect the charger, cable, plug and phone port for damage or contamination.
  • Test the original or officially compatible charger and cable.
  • Plug directly into a known-good wall outlet.
  • Keep the phone between 15°C and 35°C as general OnePlus guidance, while recognizing that individual models may differ.
  • Stop gaming and large transfers, close unnecessary apps and try Airplane Mode for a controlled test.
  • Restart and retest with the screen locked.
  • Record the results and use the correct regional OnePlus support category if the issue persists.
  • Escalate immediately for swelling, leakage, discoloration or unusually high temperature.

What not to assume

  • Do not assume every OnePlus phone uses the same charger, cable or maximum rate.
  • Do not assume a slow percentage increase proves a failed battery when the phone is performing demanding work.
  • Do not assume a third-party accessory supports the phone’s proprietary fast-charge mode.
  • Do not force a connector or insert metal tools into the charging port.
  • Do not treat the 15°C–35°C guidance as a universal specification for every model.
  • Do not continue charging a phone with signs of battery damage.
