Start by using HoYoPlay’s Repair Now option, then verify the game’s resource integrity and retry. Reinstalling is a later step—not the first one to try. Error 31-4302 is reported with a message describing a data error and asking you to download the latest game files, but HoYoverse does not publish a fix guaranteed specifically for this code.
What error 31-4302 means
The reported message reads: “Data error, please download the latest game file from the official website and log in again.” That wording points to a problem involving game data or client files, but it does not establish whether a particular installation is corrupted, incomplete, out of date, or affected by another issue. Community reports and a third-party guide describe the error appearing at login; those reports do not amount to an official diagnosis.
Some community advice associates the code with updating outside the launcher or with unexpected files in the game folder. Treat these as possibilities, not confirmed causes. Do not delete files based on an old or unverified list; some files that look unusual may be legitimate, and cleanup guidance can vary by game version. If you manually changed the installation, mention that when contacting support.
Try these fixes in order
- Record the error. Take a screenshot showing the full message and code. Note when it started, the game version if visible, and whether it followed an update or manual file changes. HoYoverse asks players reporting persistent problems to include a detailed description and supporting evidence.
- Run the HoYoPlay repair. Open the official HoYoPlay launcher, select Repair Now, and let the check finish. Close and reopen the launcher, then try logging in. - Verify resource integrity. If you can reach the login screen, use its wrench icon to run the resource-integrity check. HoYoverse also describes an in-game integrity check in its troubleshooting guidance for crashing, lagging, or freezing. Follow the prompts and allow verification or repair to complete before retrying.
- Restart and test again. Fully close HoYoPlay and the game, reopen the launcher, and try logging in. If the problem persists, restart the PC and make one more attempt. Restarting is part of HoYoverse’s general download/update troubleshooting.
- Reinstall from the official PC source if repair fails. Use the official Genshin Impact PC download source rather than an unofficial repack or an old direct-download instruction. HoYoverse recommends reinstalling from its official source when download or update problems continue. This takes more effort and may require downloading game files again, so try launcher repair and integrity verification first. No code-specific success rate or download-size figure is established.

Send a support request with the exact code, a screenshot of the complete message, when it began, your region, and the troubleshooting steps you completed. Include whether the issue followed an update or manual changes to the game folder. HoYoverse lists in-game and Help Center ticket routes, as well as genshin_cs@hoyoverse.com, in its support contact instructions. Its guidance on common game errors also provides general error-reporting context.
