If your JBL Flip 4 won’t turn on, first make sure the speaker and its charging area are completely dry. Then try a known-good power supply that matches JBL’s documented 5 V/1 A input and check the battery LEDs. A dark power-button light only tells you the speaker is off; it does not reveal whether the battery is drained or a component has failed. If the speaker can turn on, you can try JBL’s factory reset. If it stays unresponsive, the available official guidance does not identify a definite cause, so seek JBL support or a qualified repair provider.
Check for moisture before charging
If the speaker or its charging port may be wet, disconnect it and let it dry before connecting power. JBL warns that exposing the Flip 4 to water while charging may permanently damage the speaker or power source. Its IPX7 rating applies with cables removed and the cap tightly closed: the guide defines it as immersion up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes. Test the power supply
JBL lists a charging input of 5 V/1 A for the Flip 4. Try a known-good supply that meets this specification, with a connector that fits the speaker correctly. The 2017 guide lists a 3.5-hour charging time at 5 V/1 A, but that is not a guaranteed recovery time for a deeply discharged, aged, or damaged battery. JBL Flip 4 Quick Start Guide (2017)

JBL’s advice about insufficient current is narrower than a diagnosis of every no-power problem: it concerns buttons that do not work while the speaker is on external power but work on battery. If your speaker powers on from its battery, test it unplugged. JBL says that behavior indicates the power supply is not providing enough current; use a supply meeting or exceeding the product’s specified amperage. What the indicator lights tell you
- Power-button light off: JBL says the product is off. This alone does not distinguish a drained battery from a hardware fault.
- Power-button light steady: The speaker is on.
- Battery LED blinking while connected: The blinking LED indicates charging progress.
- Battery LEDs off after charging: JBL says the battery LEDs turn off when the speaker is fully charged.

Reset it only if it can turn on
A factory reset cannot help if the Flip 4 is completely unresponsive, because the speaker must be on to perform it. If it does turn on but behaves abnormally, use JBL’s reset procedure:

- Turn on the speaker.
- Hold Volume (+) and Play together for more than three seconds, until the speaker powers off.
- Turn it on again and pair your devices as needed.

If the Flip 4 still will not turn on
If it remains unresponsive after you have checked that it is dry and tried an appropriate, known-good supply, the official guidance available does not establish whether the battery, charging port, or another component is at fault. JBL’s guide specifies a 3.7 V, 3000 mAh lithium-ion battery, but that specification does not indicate the health of the battery in an individual speaker or establish a safe user-replacement procedure.
