Start with the transaction hash, not the wallet balance. A failed settlement did not complete and normally leaves the USDC in the source wallet; a delayed settlement has started and is still processing. Check the hash in the source or destination block explorer, confirm the network and gas balance, then fix wallet display issues before retrying. Do not resend a transaction until you know whether the first attempt failed, because confirmed blockchain transfers cannot be canceled or reversed.
First, identify which problem you have
The status shown by a bridge, exchange or wallet determines the safest next action. “Failed” and “delayed” are not interchangeable labels.

Circle’s support wording is useful for delayed cases: “If your transaction is delayed, the bridge process has started, but your transfer is still being completed on the network.” A delay is therefore a monitoring problem first, not a reason to assume the funds disappeared.
Use the transaction hash as your source of truth
A transaction hash (also called a transaction ID or TXID) is the unique identifier for the blockchain transaction. The status page in a bridge or wallet can lag behind the chain, while the explorer shows whether the transaction was broadcast, included in a block, confirmed, reverted or still waiting.

- Copy the exact hash. Use the transaction-details screen, not a shortened history entry. A valid hash is usually a long hexadecimal string; copying an address instead will produce no useful result.
- Open an explorer for the network that sent the transaction. If you are bridging from Ethereum to another network, begin with Ethereum’s explorer. If the source transaction is not found, check the destination network only after confirming that the source network and hash are correct.
- Check the transaction state. Look for a pending indicator, block number, confirmation count, success status, or a failure/revert reason. Record the block time and the network shown by the explorer.
- Follow the bridge’s destination transaction. Many bridges display a second hash after the source lock or burn is recognized. Search that destination hash on the destination network; a successful source transaction alone does not prove that the mint or release is complete.
- Compare the recipient address. Make sure the destination transaction sends USDC to the wallet address you control. A successful transfer to a different address is not a display problem.
How to interpret common explorer results
- Pending with no block: the transaction has been submitted but not included. Wait while checking gas conditions and the wallet’s nonce or replacement controls. Do not create a second transfer unless the original is explicitly dropped or replaced.
- Confirmed or successful: the chain accepted the transaction. If the wallet balance is unchanged, investigate the destination network, token contract and wallet display.
- Failed, reverted or out of gas: the transaction was included but its state change did not complete. The native gas used for the attempt is normally not returned. Read the revert message and correct the input, allowance, route or gas problem before trying again.
- Dropped or replaced: the original transaction is no longer the active transaction for that nonce. Check whether a replacement succeeded and use the final hash for troubleshooting.
- Not found: verify that you selected the right chain and copied the hash completely. If the provider never broadcast the request, support may need to inspect its internal logs rather than a blockchain explorer.
Confirmations are a practical progress signal. If the count is rising, the network is processing the transaction; continue monitoring until the bridge’s required finality stage is reached. A single “success” label on the source chain can still be followed by a waiting period while the bridge observes confirmations and completes the destination step.
Verify the two balances and the selected networks
Most user-visible settlement failures come from one of four basic mismatches: insufficient stablecoin, insufficient native gas, the wrong source or destination network, or a token that the selected route does not support.
Check the stablecoin amount
- Confirm that the source wallet still holds at least the amount you attempted to send, plus any provider fee deducted from the wallet.
- Remember that a failed transaction can leave the USDC in the source wallet, while a successful source leg may have locked or burned it and therefore should not be sent again.
- Check the token contract and decimals shown by the provider. Two assets can both be labelled “USDC” while belonging to different networks or contract deployments.
Check native gas
USDC pays the transfer amount, but the wallet normally needs the network’s native token to authorize and execute the transaction. For example, a wallet sending on an EVM-compatible network may need that network’s native coin even when the asset is USDC. A zero or very small native balance can prevent approval, locking or the final bridge transaction. Gas spikes can also make a previously sufficient balance inadequate.

- In the bridge or sending interface, verify the source network matches the chain where the USDC and source hash exist.
- Verify the destination network matches the chain selected in the receiving wallet.
- In the wallet’s network selector, switch to the destination chain before searching for the balance.
- Confirm that the route supports the specific USDC representation you selected; do not assume that a token with the same ticker is interchangeable across routes.
Wallets can retain a cached balance from the previous network. A refresh, full restart or account re-selection often forces a new balance query, but it cannot change the chain on which the funds actually reside.

When the bridge says complete but the wallet shows no USDC
Treat this as a display and network-verification problem only after the destination transaction is successful and the recipient address is yours.
- Open the destination hash in the destination explorer. Confirm a successful token transfer, the receiving address, the token contract and the amount.
- Switch the wallet to the exact destination network. A wallet connected to Ethereum will not show a balance held on Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche or another chain.
- Refresh or restart the wallet. Close the extension or mobile app, reopen it, and select the same account again.
- Import the token if needed. Use the token contract displayed by the destination explorer or the bridge’s official transaction details. Verify the contract character by character before importing; never rely on a random token with the same ticker.
- Check another wallet view. A second interface connected to the same address and network can distinguish a wallet-display cache issue from a chain-level problem. Do not expose your seed phrase or private key while doing this.
If the explorer shows the transfer to a different address, the wallet cannot recover it through a refresh or token import. Blockchain transactions are final once confirmed and cannot be canceled, reversed or changed. Contact the receiving service only if it controls that address; a transfer to an address you do not control is generally unrecoverable.
How long a stablecoin settlement should take
There is no single universal settlement time. The route, product mode, confirmation requirement, congestion and bridge capacity all matter. The following figures are route-specific estimates from Circle’s 2026 support documentation, not guarantees for every transaction.

These estimates can change with product configuration and network conditions. A transfer that is still gaining confirmations is usually progressing even if it has exceeded the typical time. A transfer with no confirmations, a clear revert, or a route-specific error needs diagnosis rather than indefinite waiting.

Why a transfer is delayed
Network congestion and gas spikes
When blocks are full or fees rise quickly, a transaction can wait in the mempool or be included more slowly than usual. A bridge may also wait for additional confirmations after the source transaction is mined. Check whether the explorer’s confirmation count is moving and whether the provider reports a congestion event.
Node or RPC outages
Your wallet and the bridge rely on nodes or RPC endpoints to submit and read transactions. An unhealthy endpoint can show stale balances, fail to broadcast, or delay recognition of a transaction that is already on-chain. Switching networks repeatedly will not fix a chain-wide outage; use the explorer to determine whether the transaction itself is progressing.
Temporary service interruptions
A bridge can pause intake, verification or destination execution while its service is degraded. In that case the source transaction may be confirmed while the destination transaction has not yet appeared. Keep the source and destination hashes and wait for the provider’s route-specific threshold before escalating.

Bridges may process transfers in batches or require a defined number of confirmations before releasing or minting funds. A successful source transaction can therefore remain in a “processing” state until those finality conditions are met. The required stages differ by route, so compare your transaction with the provider’s status details rather than applying a timing rule from another network.

Fix a genuinely failed settlement
Retry only after the explorer confirms that the first attempt failed or was never broadcast and that the USDC remains available in the source wallet.
- Read the exact error. Capture the wording and any error code before closing the screen. “Insufficient funds,” “insufficient gas,” “unsupported route,” “allowance,” “reverted,” and “network unavailable” require different fixes.
- Confirm the source balance. Check both USDC and the native gas token. Leave enough native token for the approval and transfer, not just the displayed network fee estimate.
- Recheck route and token. Select the intended source and destination networks and the supported USDC version. If the provider offers multiple paths, choose the one that matches the asset already in your wallet.
- Resolve approval or allowance issues. If the interface asks for an approval transaction, complete it first and wait for confirmation. Then submit the transfer. A failed approval is not the same as a failed bridge transfer.
- Retry once with a clear transaction record. Record the new hash separately from the failed hash. Do not assume a new attempt succeeded until its own source and destination records are complete.
If the same error repeats after the balance, gas, network and token checks, stop submitting transactions and escalate. Repeated retries can consume gas without changing the underlying route or contract condition.

A pending transaction can sometimes be replaced or canceled by the wallet, but those controls are chain- and wallet-specific and can create a second transaction with the same nonce. Use them only when the explorer clearly shows that the original is stuck and you understand which transaction will remain valid. For a bridge, replacing the source transaction may invalidate the provider’s expected hash or create duplicate processing risk. If confirmations are increasing, monitoring is safer than replacement.
Never treat a pending label as permission to send the same amount again from another interface. First establish whether the original transaction is pending, confirmed, failed or dropped. Once a transfer is confirmed to the wrong address, neither the bridge nor the blockchain can reverse it.

What to send support
Escalate after the route-specific threshold, when the destination leg does not appear despite a confirmed source transaction, or when the same failure persists after the basic checks. A complete report shortens the investigation.
- Source transaction hash and, if available, destination transaction hash.
- Sending and receiving wallet addresses.
- Source and destination network names.
- USDC amount, token representation or contract, and the date and time including time zone.
- The bridge, wallet or exchange name and its app, browser or provider version.
- Operating system and client type, such as browser extension, mobile app or hardware-wallet connection.
- The exact displayed status and error text, plus screenshots with seed phrases, private keys and unrelated balances hidden.
- What the block explorer shows: pending, confirmation count, success, revert reason or missing transaction.
Do not send a seed phrase, private key, wallet password or one-time recovery code to support. A legitimate investigation needs transaction context, not control of your wallet.
How to compare settlement rails before you send
If you regularly move stablecoins, record the route’s operational details instead of choosing solely by the shortest advertised time.

A practical decision tree
- No transaction hash: inspect the provider error, selected network, USDC balance and native gas balance. If the provider cannot produce a hash, ask support whether the request was broadcast.
- Hash exists but is pending: open the correct source explorer and watch confirmations. Check congestion and avoid duplicate submissions.
- Hash failed or reverted: use the revert message, confirm that USDC and gas remain in the source wallet, correct the route or allowance, and retry only once the cause is fixed.
- Source succeeds but destination is processing: wait for the route’s confirmation and finality stages; escalate after the published threshold with both hashes.
- Destination succeeds but wallet is empty: verify the recipient address, switch to the destination network, refresh the wallet and import the correct token contract.
- Destination succeeds to an unfamiliar address: treat it as a wrong-address transfer, not a display issue. Recovery depends on whether the recipient is a service that can identify and return funds; confirmed on-chain transfers cannot be reversed by the sender.
Prevent the next settlement problem
- Copy and verify the destination address before signing; compare the first and last several characters on the confirmation screen.
- Check the selected source and destination networks immediately before submission, even if the interface remembers a previous route.
- Keep both USDC and the required native gas token in the source wallet.
- Send a small test amount when using an unfamiliar route or token representation.
- Save the source hash, destination hash and route details until the recipient wallet shows the balance.
- Use the provider’s stated timing and escalation threshold rather than a generic expectation for another chain.
- Bookmark the correct block explorers and use the explorer’s token-contract information when a wallet needs manual import.
The reliable sequence is simple: classify the status, inspect the hash, verify funds and networks, correct wallet display, then escalate with evidence. Circle summarizes the reassurance for ordinary delays as follows: “Your funds are not lost. Most delayed transactions will complete automatically.” That reassurance applies to a processing transaction that is moving through the expected route; it does not override a failed transaction, a wrong address or a confirmed transfer on the wrong network.
