If your Dyson CameraJet toothbrush appears completely dead, start with the charging path rather than assuming the motor has failed. Clean and dry the charging contacts, reconnect the official charger, and look for a solid-white battery indicator and a charging-detection tone. If the handle still shows no battery response, leave travel mode, perform the normal Power reset, then perform the separate battery reset. When those checks do not restore charging or LEDs, Dyson’s troubleshooting flow identifies a battery failure; the CameraJet uses a swappable battery that can be replaced.
What this guide covers
This procedure is for the Dyson CameraJet electric toothbrush. The buttons, indicator behavior and battery procedure described here are CameraJet-specific, so another Dyson product may use different controls. A completely dark handle requires a different approach from a handle that powers on but does not recognize a brush head.
Use the steps in order. The early checks are external and reversible; opening the battery compartment should be considered only after charging and reset procedures have failed.

1. Check the entire charging path
The CameraJet will not start if the battery is depleted and the charger is not making electrical contact. Check every part of the path before trying to reset the handle.

Use a compatible CameraJet charging method
Use Dyson’s USB-C to Pogo-pin cable with a listed or certified USB-C power adapter, or use the CameraJet refill dock. The cable and dock are not interchangeable with an arbitrary charging lead simply because it has a USB-C plug; the Pogo-pin connection is part of the CameraJet charging system.
Inspect and dry the contacts
- Disconnect the charger from power.
- Check the Pogo-pin contacts on the cable or dock and the matching contacts on the toothbrush.
- Make sure the contact areas are free of moisture, dust and dirt. Do not reconnect the charger while the contacts are wet.
- Reconnect the charger firmly so the pins are seated against the handle.
When the CameraJet detects charging, Dyson says the battery indicator becomes solid white and a tone sounds. Both are useful confirmation that power has reached the toothbrush; a USB-C plug being inserted into an adapter is not, by itself, proof that the handle is charging.
Try the alternate charging path
If there is no solid-white indicator and no detection tone, unplug and reconnect the charger once. Then try another listed or certified USB-C power adapter. If you have both accessories, test the refill dock instead of the USB-C-to-Pogo-pin cable, or test the cable instead of the dock. This separates an accessory or adapter problem from a fault inside the toothbrush.

2. Make sure travel mode is off
Travel mode disables most CameraJet functions. A handle in this mode can appear to have no power even when its battery and motor are not the underlying problem.
- Hold the Power button for 2 seconds.
- Release it when the LEDs light.
- Try the Power button normally.
If the LEDs light during the two-second hold, travel mode was blocking normal operation. If no LEDs appear, proceed to the reset steps; do not assume travel mode is the only cause.
3. Perform the normal Power reset
A reset clears an unresponsive operating state without opening the battery compartment.

- Keep holding for around 9 seconds, or until the LEDs turn off and then on again.
- Release the button after that off-and-on indication.
- Reconnect the charger and check for the solid-white battery indicator and charging tone.
The timing is approximate: the relevant confirmation is the LEDs switching off and on again. If the handle remains dark, continue to the battery reset rather than repeating short button presses.

4. Perform the separate battery reset
The battery reset is different from the Power reset and must be done with the toothbrush off its charger.
- Remove the CameraJet from the cable or refill dock.
- Press and hold the Intensity button for 10–15 seconds.
- Release it when the LEDs turn off.
- Reconnect the toothbrush to the charger.
- Look for the solid-white battery indicator and listen for the charging-detection tone.
If charging is detected after this procedure, allow the handle to charge before testing normal operation. If there is still no indicator or other battery response, the remaining checks are diagnostic rather than additional button combinations.
How to interpret the indicators
Solid-white battery indicator and a tone
This combination means the CameraJet has detected the charger. If the handle does not immediately run while it is on the dock, leave it connected and then test it after charging. A detected charging connection is the evidence to pursue power delivery, not a reason to replace the battery immediately.

No indicator after every charging attempt
First rule out the adapter, cable or dock and dirty or wet contacts. Then complete the travel-mode check, the approximately nine-second Power reset and the off-charger Intensity reset. If none produces an LED response, Dyson’s support flow points to battery failure and a replacement battery or service.

Continuously blinking red battery indicator
A continuously blinking red battery indicator can signal a critical fault. Perform the prescribed reset procedure once. If the red indication persists, stop troubleshooting and contact Dyson through the support route for your country rather than repeatedly charging or opening the handle.

When the battery is the likely failure
After you have verified a compatible charging path, dried the contacts, checked travel mode, completed the Power reset and completed the battery reset, a handle with no LED or charging response matches Dyson’s battery-failure endpoint. At that point, repeatedly pressing the buttons or trying unverified accessories is unlikely to restore it.
The CameraJet has a swappable, click-in battery. Dyson describes replacement as a way to prolong the life of the toothbrush. Before opening the compartment, consider whether the toothbrush is still within the warranty applicable in your country. Dyson support can confirm the correct service route and part availability.
How to replace the Dyson CameraJet battery
Use the CameraJet replacement battery specified for your region and a T6 screwdriver. Do not improvise with a battery that has different physical or electrical specifications.

- Remove the seal at the base of the toothbrush.
- Use the T6 screwdriver to remove the exposed screw.
- Gently pull the existing battery out of the handle.
- Insert the replacement battery.
- Reattach the screw and replace the seal.
After reassembly, connect the toothbrush to its charger and check for the solid-white indicator and charging tone. If the new battery does not produce a charging response, stop and contact Dyson; the problem may involve the charging interface or another internal fault rather than the battery itself.
Battery safety
- Do not install a modified or damaged battery.
- Keep the terminals of a removed battery insulated and away from metal objects.
- Dispose of the removed battery according to applicable local rules for lithium-ion batteries.
- If the battery compartment is damaged or wet, do not continue opening or charging the toothbrush; contact Dyson support.

If the handle turns on but does not recognize a brush head
Brush-head compatibility is a separate issue from a completely dead handle. The official UK parts information states that the Dyson toothbrush works properly with a Dyson brush head. If the LEDs and motor operate but the head is not detected, fit a compatible Dyson CameraJet head and check that it is seated correctly. Do not use brush-head troubleshooting as the first remedy for a handle that has no LEDs, no charging tone and no battery response; resolve the power path first.

When to contact Dyson
Escalate to Dyson support when any of the following applies:
- The USB-C-to-Pogo-pin cable and refill dock both fail to produce a solid-white indicator or charging tone after the contacts have been cleaned and dried.
- Travel-mode, Power-reset and battery-reset procedures do not restore LEDs or charging.
- The battery indicator continues blinking red after the reset procedure.
- The battery compartment, seal or handle is damaged or wet.
- The toothbrush may still be covered by the warranty in your country.
Use Dyson’s country-specific support and parts route so the representative can check regional warranty terms, compatible part numbers and current stock. Have the toothbrush, charging accessories and the observed indicator behavior available when you contact support; describing whether you heard the charging tone and saw a solid-white or red indicator helps distinguish an accessory problem from a battery fault.
