To move your Hello Kitty Island Adventure island to another Nintendo Switch, use Nintendo’s nearby save-data transfer. On the old Switch, open System Settings → Data Management → Transfer Your Save Data → Send Save Data to Another Console. On the new Switch, open the same area and choose the receive option shown on screen.
Both consoles must be online, close to each other, and signed in with users linked to the same Nintendo Account. Nintendo Switch Online is not required for this direct transfer. It is a move rather than a permanent copy: after the send operation completes, Nintendo deletes that save file from the old console.
Choose the transfer method before you begin
Your best method depends on whether you still have the old Switch and whether the game offers Nintendo’s cloud-backup option. The two methods are separate; a cloud restore is not required when both consoles are available for a nearby transfer.

| Nearby save-data transfer | Yes | Not required | Both consoles must be connected to the internet, near each other, and using users linked to the same Nintendo Account | The save is moved and deleted from the source console after it is sent |
| Save Data Cloud restore | Not necessarily | Required active membership | The game must support cloud backup; the source must have an existing cloud backup, and the target must be online | The target downloads the backed-up version; the cited Nintendo guidance does not establish that every Hello Kitty Island Adventure installation supports this option |
Use the nearby method when the old Switch is in your possession. It is Nintendo’s documented console-to-console route and avoids relying on cloud compatibility. Use cloud restore only when a valid backup exists and the software presents a Save Data Cloud option.

Prepare both Nintendo Switch consoles
Preparation prevents the most common interruptions and gives you a way to verify the move before you retire the old system.
Install the latest system update
- On each Switch, open System Settings.
- Select System.
- Choose System Update and allow the console to install any available update.
- Repeat the check on the other Switch.
Do this before opening the transfer menu. The transfer procedure depends on the system software’s Data Management features being available on both consoles.
Connect both consoles and place them together
- Connect both Switch consoles to the internet.
- Keep them physically near each other while the transfer is running.
- Use stable power or make sure both systems have enough battery for the entire operation.
- Close Hello Kitty Island Adventure on both systems before starting.
The requirement is internet access on both consoles and proximity between them. The documented instructions do not require a particular Wi-Fi network, so do not change network settings unless one of the systems cannot get online.
Check the Nintendo Account link
The user that owns the save on the old Switch must correspond to a user linked to the same Nintendo Account on the new Switch. If the target has only a different account or an unlinked local user, stop and correct that account setup before selecting a save. The transfer menu uses the user profile associated with the save; it is not an anonymous file-copy operation.
Protect the old system until verification
Do not initialize, erase, or reset either console before the new Switch launches the game and you confirm that your island progress is present. A system reset cannot be used as a recovery step after the source save has been deleted.

Transfer the save directly between the consoles
Follow this sequence when you have both Switch systems available.
1. Open the send menu on the old Switch
- From the old Switch HOME Menu, open System Settings.
- Select Data Management.
- Choose Transfer Your Save Data.
- Select Send Save Data to Another Console.
Choose the user profile that contains your Hello Kitty Island Adventure progress when Nintendo asks which user’s data to send.

The old console displays the eligible save data for that user. Select Hello Kitty Island Adventure, review the confirmation information, and continue. If the title is not listed, do not substitute a microSD card or game card; first check the account and system requirements in the troubleshooting section below.
3. Open the receive menu on the new Switch
- On the new Switch, open System Settings.
- Select Data Management.
- Choose Transfer Your Save Data.
- Select the receive option displayed by the menu, usually labeled Receive Save Data.
Keep the new console awake and nearby while it searches for the sending system.
4. Match the consoles and approve the transfer
When the consoles identify each other, confirm the same user and select the Hello Kitty Island Adventure save. Follow the on-screen confirmations on both systems. Do not launch another game, put either console to sleep, or move out of range while the operation is in progress.

- This model includes battery life of approximately 4.5 - 9 hours.
- The battery life will depend on the games you play. For instance, the battery will last approximately 5.5 hours for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (games sold separately)
- Model number HAC 001( 01)
5. Wait for completion messages
Allow Nintendo’s transfer process to finish on both consoles. There is no published guaranteed transfer time, so do not cancel solely because the operation takes longer than expected. If either system reports an error, record the message, restore the required internet connection, and restart the procedure only after both consoles return to a normal HOME Menu state.
6. Launch the game on the new Switch
- Start Hello Kitty Island Adventure on the new console with the receiving user.
- Load the island and check recognizable progress, such as your current location, unlocked areas, inventory, or quest state.
- Exit the game normally after confirming the correct save loaded.
Only after this check should you consider erasing or repurposing the old Switch.
Understand what happens to the old save
Nearby transfer is designed to relocate a save, not maintain two independently synchronized copies. Nintendo states that the save file is deleted from the source system once it has been sent. That means the old Switch will no longer provide the transferred island to the original user after a successful move.
This matters if you intend to keep playing on both consoles. A single direct transfer does not create a permanent shared progression file. Decide which Switch will be your active system before sending the save, and verify the target before changing anything on the source.
If the old Switch is unavailable: try Save Data Cloud
Nintendo’s fallback is Save Data Cloud, but it is conditional. You need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership, a cloud backup made from the source console, and software that supports cloud backup. The cited Nintendo documentation does not confirm a Hello Kitty Island Adventure-specific exception or guarantee that every installation can be restored this way.

- 6.2” LCD screen.
- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer

Check whether a cloud backup can be made
- On the source Switch, open the game’s software menu from the HOME Menu.
- Look for the Save Data Cloud option.
- Use the backup command for the appropriate user if Nintendo presents one.
If the software does not offer a cloud-backup command, this route is not established for that installation. Do not assume that having Nintendo Switch Online automatically creates a usable copy of every game’s save.
Download the backup on the replacement Switch
- Sign in on the target Switch with the user linked to the same Nintendo Account.
- Open the game’s software menu.
- Select Save Data Cloud.
- Choose Download Save Data.
- Select the available Hello Kitty Island Adventure backup and confirm the download.
- Launch the game and verify the island before making further changes.
The downloaded state is the version stored in the cloud. Any progress made after that backup will not be present unless it was included in a later backup.
Nearby transfer versus cloud restore: which should you use?
Use nearby transfer when you have both consoles
- It is Nintendo’s direct console-to-console workflow.
- It does not require Nintendo Switch Online.
- It requires both systems to be online and physically near each other.
- It relocates the save, so the old console loses that file after sending.
Use cloud restore only when the backup path is available
- It can help when the old Switch cannot be used.
- It requires an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- It depends on the game supporting Save Data Cloud and having a backup already stored.
- It restores the backed-up state rather than transferring directly from the old hardware.
If both paths are available, the nearby method avoids uncertainty about whether Hello Kitty Island Adventure supports cloud backup on your account and software version.

The transfer menu is missing or the game is not listed
- Run System Settings → System → System Update on both consoles.
- Confirm that you selected the user profile containing the island save.
- Check that the game is installed and that you are using the same Nintendo Account-linked user on the target.
- Close the game and reopen System Settings → Data Management → Transfer Your Save Data.
Do not treat a missing listing as evidence that the save is on the microSD card. Nintendo’s documented save-transfer workflow does not use a microSD card or game card as the transfer mechanism.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe consoles cannot find each other
- Confirm that both consoles show an active internet connection.
- Move them closer together and remove obstacles that could interfere with handling the systems.
- Keep both screens awake and remain in the transfer menus.
- Restart the attempt after both systems return to their HOME Menus if the first session times out.
The direct procedure requires internet access and proximity at the same time; having only one of those conditions is insufficient.

- One player can use a Joy-Con in each hand
- Two players can each take one
- Multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options (additional Joy-Con sold separately)
- Slip a set of Joy-Con into a Joy-Con grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
The target shows the wrong user or no island progress
- Exit the game without overwriting anything else.
- Confirm that the target user is linked to the same Nintendo Account as the sending user.
- Reopen the transfer menu and check that the selected save belongs to the intended user.
- Launch the game again only after the account and save selection match.
If the source save has already been sent, remember that Nintendo removes it from the source console. Do not initiate unrelated resets while trying to diagnose the target.
The cloud option is unavailable
An active Nintendo Switch Online membership alone does not prove that this title or installation supports Save Data Cloud. Check the game’s software menu for the option and use nearby transfer instead when the old console is available.
What this process does not transfer
The documented operation concerns the game’s save data. It is not a file-copy procedure using removable storage. Nintendo’s transfer instructions do not call for moving a microSD card or inserting the game card into the target as a substitute for the save-data transfer.
You still need to start the game on the target with the receiving user and confirm the island. The transfer menu and the game launch are separate steps: completing the former does not replace the latter verification.
Use Nintendo’s broader user-transfer option only for a different goal
Nintendo also documents a broader user-transfer process that can retain game save data, including saves for games that do not support Save Data Cloud backup. That is a different operation from sending one Hello Kitty Island Adventure save through Transfer Your Save Data. Consider it when you are moving a user and its associated data as part of a wider console change, not when you only want to relocate this one island.
For a single-game move with both consoles present, the dedicated nearby save-data transfer is the more targeted procedure. Follow the user-transfer prompts only when you intentionally want the wider user migration and have reviewed what else will move with that profile.
Quick Recap
Final verification checklist
- Both Switch consoles were updated through System Settings → System → System Update.
- Both systems were online and close together during the nearby transfer.
- The sending and receiving users were linked to the same Nintendo Account.
- Hello Kitty Island Adventure was selected from the correct user’s save list.
- The new Switch launched the game and displayed the expected island progress.
- You understand that the successful nearby transfer removes the sent save from the old Switch.
- You did not erase, initialize, or reset either console before verifying the target.
