To move data with Apple’s Move to iOS app, start the iPhone 17 Pro’s setup, choose From Android and Transfer with App, then enter the code shown on the iPhone into Move to iOS on your Android phone. Select the content to copy and keep both phones powered, nearby, and undisturbed until the iPhone’s loading bar finishes. Apple also documents a direct USB-C connection and a limited no-app option for compatible Android 17 or later devices. Apple’s Android-to-iPhone transfer guide was published May 11, 2026; it describes the general setup process, not a special iPhone 17 Pro transfer speed or guarantee.
Choose your transfer method before you set up the iPhone
The standard Move to iOS method runs during the iPhone’s initial setup. If your iPhone 17 Pro is still at the setup screens, use that route for the broadest Apple-documented automatic migration. You can connect wirelessly or, if you have a compatible USB-C cable, connect the phones directly. Apple says the cable option can make the transfer faster, but does not provide a speed figure or a guaranteed completion time.
If you have already finished setting up the iPhone, decide whether you are willing to erase it and start setup again. That is Apple’s documented route for using Move to iOS after setup is complete. If you do not want to erase the phone, you will need to move content manually instead. For compatible Android 17 or later devices, Apple also describes a transfer without the Move to iOS app; that option is device-dependent rather than universal.
- New or erased iPhone: use Move to iOS during setup, with a wireless or direct USB-C connection.
- Already configured iPhone: erase and restart to use Move to iOS, or keep the iPhone as it is and transfer content manually.
- Compatible Android 17 or later: check with the Android device manufacturer whether the no-app transfer is supported.
These are Apple’s general Android-to-iPhone instructions. They do not establish a model-specific time estimate, compatibility for every Android handset, or a universal carrier and eSIM outcome for the iPhone 17 Pro. The practical choice is therefore less about a promised speed and more about whether the iPhone is still in setup, whether the Android phone supports the no-app option, and whether you prefer a wireless or wired connection.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Prepare both phones and check what will fit
Before starting, make sure the iPhone has enough available storage for the content you plan to select. Include content on an external Micro SD card in your estimate if you intend to bring it over. If the selected Android content is larger than the iPhone’s available space, the migration may not finish as intended. Apple does not give a transfer-time estimate: duration depends on how much content is being moved.
- Turn on Wi-Fi on the Android phone.
- Connect both phones to power and keep them close together.
- If you want to bring Chrome bookmarks, update Chrome on Android before starting.
- Have any carrier account or login details available in case number or SIM activation requires follow-up.
- If using a direct connection, have a USB-C cable that connects the two devices. Apple does not specify a required cable data rate or particular cable model.
Wait to begin until you have time to leave the phones alone. The Android phone needs to remain in Move to iOS, and the iPhone’s own loading bar—not an early completion message on Android—is the indicator that the transfer is finished.
It helps to decide in advance which categories you actually need. The setup flow lets you select data, so think about the categories you want to bring over and whether their combined size will fit. If you rely on files stored on a Micro SD card, include them in that decision rather than assuming the phone’s internal storage is the only content involved. The official instructions do not publish a universal duration or a size threshold; both the amount being moved and the available space matter.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Transfer with Move to iOS over Wi-Fi
Use this procedure while the iPhone 17 Pro is in initial setup, or after erasing it and returning to setup. The exact screens can vary slightly with setup choices, but the key destination is the Transfer Your Apps & Data screen.
- Start iPhone setup. Turn on the iPhone and follow the setup prompts. If asked how to set it up, choose Set Up Without Another [Apple] Device as applicable. On Transfer Your Apps & Data, tap From Android, then choose Transfer with App.
- Open the Android app. On Android, open Move to iOS and accept its prompts. Grant requested permissions when needed so the app can access the content you want to move.
- Enter the iPhone’s code. The iPhone displays a six- or ten-digit code. Enter that code in Move to iOS on Android.
- Join the temporary network. When prompted, let Android connect to the temporary Wi-Fi network created by the iPhone. Keep both devices near each other.
- Select content. On Android, choose the categories you want to transfer and tap Continue. The transfer begins; leave both phones powered and do not switch away from Move to iOS on Android.
- Wait for the iPhone to finish. Do not stop when Android says its part is complete. Wait until the loading bar on the iPhone itself reaches the end.
- Complete setup. When the iPhone indicates the move is finished, tap Done on Android and Continue on iPhone, then follow the remaining setup prompts.
The temporary network is part of the guided connection, so allow Android to join it when prompted rather than trying to switch to another network during the move. Keep the app in the foreground and avoid using either phone for other tasks. If you see a completion notice on Android while the iPhone is still showing its loading bar, the iPhone has not yet given the signal to continue.
Some free apps may be identified as matches if they are available in both stores and support the transfer feature. Expect to download those apps from the App Store; Android app installations are not copied across as working iPhone installations.
Use a direct USB-C connection instead
Apple lists a direct USB-C connection between Android and iPhone as an alternative to the wireless route and says it can make the transfer faster. The same setup flow still applies: begin on the iPhone’s Transfer Your Apps & Data screen, choose From Android and Transfer with App, then proceed through Move to iOS. Connect the phones with the cable and follow the prompts shown on their screens.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Android may ask you to change a USB setting after the cable is connected. Follow the on-screen prompt if it appears. The available instructions do not specify a particular cable standard, a guaranteed speed increase, or a time savings for the iPhone 17 Pro, so treat “faster” as Apple’s general description rather than a performance promise for every phone and cable combination.
If you already have a cable that connects the devices, it is reasonable to try it rather than buying one solely for this move. If you need a cable, choose one that physically connects the two phones; Apple’s guide does not identify a particular model or cable specification. Keep both phones powered and follow any USB prompt on Android. A cable changes the connection method, not the fact that the migration is still started from the iPhone’s initial setup flow.
Transfer without the Move to iOS app, if your Android phone supports it
Apple’s no-app path applies to compatible Android 17 or later devices. Do not assume that every phone running Android 17 qualifies: Apple directs users to check compatibility with the Android device manufacturer, including eSIM support where relevant.
- During iPhone setup, open Transfer Your Apps & Data, choose From Android, and tap Transfer without App.
- Keep the two devices near each other. Scan the QR code displayed on the iPhone using the Android phone.
- Select the supported data you want to move and follow the prompts on both devices.
- If the QR scan does not work, use Apple’s manual pairing alternative: open Google Services on Android and enter the session ID and pairing code displayed on the iPhone, then continue through the prompts.
The categories and steps available through this method may depend on device compatibility. If the option is missing, the QR code cannot be used, or the manufacturer cannot confirm support, use Move to iOS or transfer content manually instead.

What transfers automatically—and what does not
Apple lists these categories for the Move to iOS migration. The list describes supported content types, not a promise that every item, account credential, app, or device-specific setting will carry over identically.
- Contacts
- Message history and SMS
- Camera photos and videos, plus photo albums
- Files and folders
- Accessibility and display settings
- Web bookmarks
- Mail accounts
- WhatsApp messages and media
- Voice Memos
- Call history
- Calendars
WhatsApp messages and media are among the listed transfer categories, but that does not mean every other app’s data is included. App matching is conditional: some free apps may be matched when a corresponding app is available in both stores and supports the feature. You may need to reinstall apps and sign in or configure them separately.

Apple Support states, “Music, books, and PDFs need to be moved over manually.” Those items are outside the automatic transfer and need a separate manual route. Check the iPhone after setup for the content you care about rather than assuming that an account, library, or setting not listed above was copied.
For that reason, treat the category list as a guide to what the migration can include, not an item-by-item guarantee. A listed mail account, for example, does not establish that every credential will be available without signing in again. Similarly, app matching does not mean an Android installation, its entire app data set, or every app-specific preference becomes an iPhone app automatically. Check important content directly on the iPhone after setup.
If iPhone setup is already complete
Apple’s Move to iOS flow is part of initial iPhone setup. Once setup is complete, the documented choice is to erase the iPhone and begin again, or to leave its current contents in place and move data manually. Erasing is consequential: protect anything already on the iPhone that you need to keep before choosing that route. Apple’s transfer instructions do not provide a scenario-specific backup plan for this decision.
- Choose erase and restart if you want the setup-time Move to iOS migration and are prepared to erase the iPhone after safeguarding its existing data.
- Choose manual transfer if you do not want to erase the configured iPhone. This avoids restarting setup, but it is not the same single guided migration and may require handling content categories separately.
Do not begin an erase simply to see whether Move to iOS works. First check available iPhone capacity and decide what you need to preserve; an incomplete transfer or a full destination phone can require erasing and retrying, which also makes preparation important.
In short, the choice is whether the convenience of the guided setup migration is worth restarting setup and protecting the iPhone’s existing contents first. If you keep the phone configured, use manual handling for the content you need rather than expecting the setup assistant to reopen the Android transfer later. The cited Apple instructions do not prescribe a single manual method for every content type, so choose a route appropriate to the item and verify it afterward.
Recommended Free Tools
SIM, eSIM, and phone-number activation
Number and SIM activation may be offered during the move, and Apple says you may be directed to your carrier’s website to finish activation. The no-app flow has a separate eSIM transfer step when supported. Whether activation is available can depend on the carrier, plan, region, Android model, and iPhone configuration; Apple’s general procedure does not guarantee one activation path for everyone.
If activation is not offered or does not complete, contact your carrier and keep its account details available. Treat the data migration and mobile-service activation as related but distinct tasks: successfully moving messages or photos does not by itself establish that the number or eSIM has been activated.

It is useful to have carrier login information at hand before setup so you can respond if a carrier site or account step appears. Do not assume that choosing an Android data transfer automatically completes number activation in every country or with every plan. If you are using the no-app option, verify device and eSIM compatibility with the manufacturer; for activation that is missing or unsuccessful, the carrier is the appropriate place to resolve the service side.
Fix a stalled or incomplete transfer
If the transfer stalls, fails, or stops before the iPhone’s loading bar finishes, Apple recommends removing common interruptions and retrying. Make changes on Android before starting again, then leave the transfer flow in the foreground.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Keep Move to iOS open. Do not open another app or answer an incoming call on Android while the transfer is running. If Android reports completion first, continue waiting for the iPhone’s loading bar.
- Reduce Wi-Fi interference. Turn off Android features that can interfere with Wi-Fi, forget known Wi-Fi networks, and turn off Android cellular data before retrying.
- Restart both phones. Restart Android and iPhone, then begin the transfer again from the iPhone setup flow.
- Check storage before another attempt. If the destination iPhone runs out of space or appears full after an incomplete transfer, Apple advises erasing the iPhone and trying again only after confirming the Android content will fit in the iPhone’s available storage.
When retrying, return to the relevant setup process and select the data again. Do not infer that a partial attempt completed just because some files or messages appear on the iPhone. If the same issue recurs after following these steps, check the device-specific guidance from Apple or the Android manufacturer rather than assuming the problem is a transfer-speed issue.
Pay particular attention to interruptions on Android: switching apps, receiving a call, or allowing a Wi-Fi-related feature to interfere can disrupt the process. Before a retry, make sure both devices are charged or connected to power, the phones are nearby, and Android is not using cellular data for the transfer. If the iPhone is full, do not repeat the same attempt without first checking whether the selected Android content can fit.

Once setup is complete, verify the categories that matter to you on the iPhone: contacts, recent and older message history, photos and videos, calendars, files, and WhatsApp content if selected. Then download any matched apps from the App Store and sign in where required. Move music, books, and PDFs through a manual method appropriate to where those files are stored.
Finally, confirm that calling and mobile data work if you moved a number or SIM/eSIM during setup. If carrier activation remains incomplete, resolve that with the carrier; it is separate from checking whether the transferred personal content is present.
A short post-move check can catch omissions while the transfer decision is still fresh. Compare the important categories you selected against what is visible on the iPhone, then separately handle excluded content and app sign-ins. Do not treat the presence of a few transferred items as proof that every selected category or account finished correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I transfer WhatsApp from Android to iPhone 17 Pro?
Apple lists WhatsApp messages and media among the content categories that can move through the setup-time transfer. Use Move to iOS during iPhone setup, select the content offered, and verify WhatsApp on the iPhone afterward. This does not imply that data from every other app transfers too.
What data transfers from Android to iPhone?
Apple lists contacts; SMS and message history; camera photos and videos and photo albums; files and folders; accessibility and display settings; web bookmarks; mail accounts; WhatsApp messages and media; Voice Memos; call history; and calendars. Some free apps may be matched for App Store download. Music, books, and PDFs need to be moved manually, and not every app, credential, or device-specific setting is guaranteed to carry over.
Can I transfer Android data to an iPhone 17 Pro with a cable?
Yes. Apple documents connecting Android and iPhone directly with a USB-C cable during the setup-time Move to iOS process and says this can make the transfer faster. Android may prompt you to change a USB setting. Apple does not specify a required cable model, speed, or guaranteed time saving.
Can I use Move to iOS after setting up my iPhone?
Apple says Move to iOS is part of initial iPhone setup. To use it after setup is complete, erase the iPhone and begin setup again; protect anything on the iPhone that you need to keep before erasing. If you do not want to erase it, transfer content manually instead.
Can I transfer without Move to iOS?
Apple documents a no-app option for compatible Android 17 or later devices, but it is not universal. During iPhone setup, choose From Android and Transfer without App, then scan the iPhone’s QR code with Android and follow the prompts. If scanning fails, Apple describes a manual pairing option using Google Services, a session ID, and a pairing code. Confirm compatibility with the Android manufacturer.
Why does Android say the transfer is complete while the iPhone is still loading?
Wait for the loading bar on the iPhone itself to finish before continuing. Keep Move to iOS onscreen on Android, avoid other apps and incoming calls, and do not interrupt the phones while the iPhone’s bar is still moving.
What should I do if the transfer fails or the iPhone runs out of space?
Keep Move to iOS open, turn off Android features that can interfere with Wi-Fi, forget known Wi-Fi networks, turn off Android cellular data, and restart both phones before retrying. If the iPhone is full after an incomplete transfer, Apple advises erasing it and retrying only after confirming the selected Android content will fit.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe Bottom Line
For the broadest guided move, start with a new or erased iPhone 17 Pro and use Move to iOS during setup. Keep both phones powered and nearby, confirm the selected content will fit, and wait for the iPhone’s loading bar to finish. Use a direct USB-C connection if desired; treat the no-app route as conditional on Android-device compatibility. If setup is already complete, choose between safeguarding the iPhone’s contents and erasing it to restart, or moving content manually.
