To trade a Riven Mod, meet the Riven-specific Mastery Rank 8 requirement, then exchange it with another player at a Clan Dojo Trading Post or in Maroo’s Bazaar using Warframe’s trade interface. Both players need enough Credits for the displayed trade tax. Before confirming, check the exact items and Platinum in the window; for players on different platforms, Cross Platform Play must be enabled, and Platinum may be restricted for some platform pairings.
What you need before trading a Riven
Digital Extremes’ Riven-specific requirement is Mastery Rank 8 or higher. Its general Trading FAQ & Safe Trading Tips lists Mastery Rank 2 or higher and TennoGuard 2FA as account requirements for trading. These rules work together: the Riven-specific rank is higher than the general trading baseline, so meeting the baseline alone is not enough to trade a Riven.
Digital Extremes stated the Riven-specific rule in The Remote Observer – Vol. 39, published on September 21, 2018: “A Mastery Rank of 8+ is now required to Trade Rivens.” If you are preparing a Riven trade, check that requirement for the accounts involved as well as the general trade requirements.

- Mastery Rank 8 or higher: the published Riven-specific requirement.
- TennoGuard 2FA: required under the general trading rules.
- Enough Credits: both players need to cover the trade tax displayed during the transaction.
- A trade location: use a Clan Dojo Trading Post or Maroo’s Bazaar.
- Cross-platform setup, if needed: enable Cross Platform Play to trade with a player on a different platform, and check the currency rules for the pairing.
If the trade option is unavailable, check your Mastery Rank and account security requirements first. Do not assume that the general MR 2 threshold means you can trade a Riven; the Riven-specific MR 8 rule is the higher gate. Rules can differ by platform pairing, especially for Platinum.

Make sure you and the other player can pay the Credit tax before you spend time arranging the exchange. The interface displays the tax during the trade process, and each player is responsible for having enough Credits for the amount shown. The amount can depend on the items in the transaction, so check the actual window rather than relying on an estimate from a previous trade.
How to trade a Riven in-game
- Choose where to meet. Go to a Clan Dojo with a Trading Post, or meet the other player at Maroo’s Bazaar. These are the two locations identified by Digital Extremes for player trading.
- Start the trade. At the Dojo Trading Post, approach it and select the other player. At Maroo’s Bazaar, set up or approach a shop. Use the in-game process to open the trade; the agreement you make elsewhere is not a substitute for the offer shown in the trade window.
- Add the Riven and any agreed items. Put the Riven and any other tradeable items into the interface. If Platinum is part of the agreement, verify the amount in the window. Do not rely on a separate message, listing, or verbal agreement as a substitute for what the game displays.
- Check the Credit tax. The interface shows the tax for the trade. Both players must have enough Credits to pay it. If either player cannot cover the displayed tax, resolve that before trying to complete the transaction.
- Review the complete offer before confirming. Verify the Riven, every other item, and the exact Platinum amount. Digital Extremes warns players to check the Platinum shown in the trade UI: the confirmed UI amount is the amount received.
- Ready and confirm. Both players must ready and confirm the transaction in the interface for it to complete. Take another look at the full offer if anything changes before confirmation.
Check the trade window as a whole, not just the Riven. A buyer and seller can agree on terms in chat or through a listing, but only the items and currency displayed in the game interface are part of the transaction. Confirm that the Riven shown is the one you intended to exchange and that the accompanying offer matches what you agreed to.
If the final offer changes while you are checking it, pause and review the entire window again before you confirm. Do not accept a promise that an item, service, or additional payment will be delivered after the trade. Digital Extremes warns that trading for goods or services not listed in the interface can result in trading restrictions, suspension, or a ban.
Which Riven states can be traded?
Digital Extremes’ Veilbreaker: Update 32 describes three tradeable Riven states. Those notes are the basis for the distinctions below; check later official patch notes if you need to verify a subsequent change to a particular state or mechanic.

When you agree on a Riven, make sure you and the other player mean the same state. A veiled Riven does not display the unveiled stats that may matter to a buyer, while an unveiled one can be assessed from its shown stats. If you are comparing offers, do not treat a veiled Riven and an unveiled Riven as identical simply because they are associated with the same weapon.
The “???” state has a separate practical detail: the Update 32 notes describe newly acquired Rivens in that state as stackable, and say that equipping one reveals its challenge and makes it use a Riven slot. That is useful to know before deciding whether to equip it or trade it in that state. The notes identify these states as tradeable, but they do not establish a universal price for any of them.

Trading with someone on another platform
Digital Extremes’ Update 37: Koumei & the Five Fates says Cross Platform Play must be enabled to trade with a player on a different platform. The notes also identify Mastery Rank 2 or higher and TennoGuard 2FA as general requirements for PC and Cross Platform Save players, alongside the separate MR 8 Riven rule.

Do not assume Platinum can be transferred in every cross-platform trade. Premium-currency restrictions still apply between some platforms, and the permitted pairing depends on the accounts involved. Check current platform guidance for both players before agreeing on a Platinum amount. The trade interface is the final check: if the agreed currency or item cannot be offered there, do not treat an outside promise as an equivalent transaction.
It helps to settle the platform question before choosing a price or arranging a meeting. Confirm that Cross Platform Play is enabled for the cross-platform trade, then verify that the intended items and currency can actually be placed in the trade window. A listing or chat message cannot override a platform restriction. If Platinum is unavailable for the pairing, renegotiate only through a permitted in-game offer—or do not proceed.
How to find a buyer and compare Riven offers
Third-party services can help you find listings or compare what other players are asking, but they are not Warframe’s official trading interface. Riven.market identifies itself as unofficial and explains its listing process. Rivens.wf describes a fan-made catalogue and trading board. In either case, the actual exchange still takes place in Warframe.
These services are useful for finding potential buyers, seeing how other listings are presented, or making an offer. Treat them as discovery and comparison tools, not as proof of a completed sale. A listing is an asking price: it does not establish that a buyer accepted it or that a trade completed at that amount. No verified market-wide average, completed-sale dataset, or time-to-sale statistic is available here, so do not present an isolated listing as a dependable market price.

- Weapon: compare Rivens for the same weapon rather than treating all Rivens as interchangeable.
- Stats and state: for an unveiled Riven, inspect its displayed stats; note whether each Riven is veiled or unveiled. A veiled Riven cannot be compared through the same displayed-stat details as an unveiled one.
- Roll count: include the roll count when it is relevant to the comparison. It is one factor to check, not a standalone price formula.
- Comparable listings: look at current listings for similar Rivens, while remembering that those are asking prices rather than completed-sale records.
- Platform: confirm the accounts can trade and that the agreed currency is permitted for their platform pairing.
- Final offer and tax: compare the exact Platinum and Credit tax shown in the in-game trade window, not just a price discussed elsewhere.
For example, if you are weighing two offers, first check whether they concern the same weapon and whether the Rivens are both veiled or both unveiled. For unveiled Rivens, compare the stats actually displayed; include roll count if relevant. Then use current comparable listings as context, confirm the platform pairing can support the proposed currency, and inspect the final Platinum and Credit tax in the trade window. That process makes the differences visible without pretending that one factor has a fixed numerical value.
The available price information does not establish a numeric weighting for these factors, so no single attribute or listing can produce a dependable universal valuation. An asking amount is not a completed sale, and an apparently similar listing may differ in weapon, state, stats, roll count, or platform. If you are selling, decide what offer you will accept before opening the trade window. If you are buying, compare the Riven itself—not just the amount requested—with other current listings for similar Rivens.
Common ways to search include asking how to sell a Riven, how to price-check one, and where to list it. Marketplace help pages discuss listing, importing Rivens, and making offers. Those are useful practical tasks, but they do not change the central safety rule: arrange the transaction using the service if it helps you find a partner, then place and verify the actual exchange through Warframe’s interface.

The offer differs from what you agreed
Do not confirm until the trade window matches your agreement. Recheck the Riven and the Platinum amount whenever the offer changes; Digital Extremes says the confirmed UI amount is the amount received. If the displayed offer is unclear or different, stop and resolve it before either player confirms.
You cannot complete the trade
Check the Riven-specific Mastery Rank requirement, the general trading requirements, and whether both players have enough Credits for the displayed tax. If the other player is on another platform, check that Cross Platform Play is enabled and review current platform rules for the accounts involved. A general MR 2 requirement does not replace the Riven-specific MR 8 gate.
A buyer or seller proposes an off-interface deal
Keep the transaction inside Warframe’s trade interface. Digital Extremes warns that trading for goods or services not listed there can lead to trading restrictions, suspension, or a ban. Only purchased Platinum is eligible to be traded. Do not exchange an item for an outside service or count on someone to deliver a promised item after the in-game trade.

This applies even when the other person sounds trustworthy or the proposed arrangement seems convenient. The trade window records the actual items and amount being exchanged; an external listing, message, or promise cannot make a missing item part of that trade. If the full agreement cannot be represented in the interface, do not proceed on the assumption that the rest will be honored later.
A third-party listing looks like a guaranteed sale price
Treat a listing as an offer or asking price only. It does not establish that the Riven sold for that amount. Use listings to find potential buyers or compare similar examples, then agree on the terms and verify the actual trade in-game. There is no verified market-wide average in the information available here.
The agreed Platinum cannot be offered
For a different-platform trade, check current platform guidance rather than assuming that Platinum rules are identical across every pairing. If the amount cannot be offered in the game interface, it is not part of the transaction. Do not substitute a promise of later payment or an outside service.

Digital Extremes’ Update 44: Iceblade of Narin notes, published in 2026, say Trade Chat is hidden from players below Mastery Rank 2. This affects visibility of Trade Chat, but it does not lower the MR 8 requirement for trading a Riven.
The same notes say Riven Trait Locking is live and describe Riven Splicing as planned for a later update at that time. Do not assume that a feature described as upcoming in those notes is available now; check current official patch notes for its status. These feature notes are separate from the basic trade process: use a Dojo Trading Post or Maroo’s Bazaar, meet the requirements, and confirm the exact in-game offer.

What Mastery Rank do I need to trade Rivens?
Digital Extremes’ Riven-specific requirement is Mastery Rank 8 or higher. The general trading baseline is MR 2 or higher, with TennoGuard 2FA, but MR 2 alone is not enough for a Riven trade.
Can you trade veiled or unveiled Rivens?
