Use the console’s built-in Trophies screen to see what you have earned and what remains. On PS5, open your profile picture, choose Trophies, select a game, and open a trophy for its requirements; choose View All Trophies for the complete list. On PS4, open Trophies from the function screen and select a game. The exact objectives, grades, and number of trophies are set separately for each game, so the selected game’s own details are the authoritative checklist. Sony’s official instructions for both consoles are in PlayStation Support’s trophy guide.

What PlayStation trophy tracking shows

A trophy list is a game-specific record of objectives. It shows which trophies you have earned, which remain available, each trophy’s grade, and the condition Sony has associated with it. There is no universal requirement shared by all games: Sony says, “The number and grades of trophies, and the conditions for earning them, vary from game to game.” Treat the details displayed for the selected game as the checklist for that title rather than assuming that a trophy’s name explains everything.

Tracking is useful at three different points:

  • Planning: read the requirement before starting a chapter, activity, difficulty setting, or collectible route that could affect it.
  • During play: keep a small set of current objectives visible on PS5 with the trophies card and pinned trophies.
  • After play: review unearned trophies, sort earned trophies on PS4, compare profiles, and manually synchronize the record with PlayStation Network when the display needs refreshing.

Most tracking features are already part of the PS5 or PS4 interface. You do not need a separate tracker, accessory, or companion service to follow progress.

Track trophy requirements on PS5

Open a game’s trophy list

  1. From the PS5 home screen, select your profile picture.
  2. Select Trophies.
  3. Choose the game you want to inspect.
  4. Select an individual trophy to read its details and current status.

The list you first see reflects your progress in that game. To inspect trophies that are not currently shown in the available view, select View All Trophies. This is the important distinction between checking what is immediately available and opening the complete game list.

Use the details as the requirement checklist

Open each trophy that matters to your current goal rather than relying only on its title. A game may use similar wording for several objectives, and the grade or status alone does not tell you the full condition. If a trophy is still unearned, its detail view is the place to confirm what the game expects. If you are checking a completion plan, work through the full list and mark the objectives you intend to pursue in your own notes; the console remains the source for the displayed requirement.

Pin trophies while you play

PS5 can put selected trophies in the control center so you do not have to leave the game to check them.

  1. While the game is running, open the control center.
  2. Select the Trophies card.
  3. Select a trophy.
  4. Choose Pin Trophy.
  5. If you want the card beside the game screen, choose Pin to Side.

You can pin up to five trophies per game. The card shows trophy statistics, the progress or status of pinned trophies, and available trophies. Pin the objectives that are relevant to the section you are playing, then replace them when your plan changes. Pinning is a viewing aid; it does not change the trophy’s requirement or unlock it automatically.

A practical PS5 tracking routine

  1. Before a session, open the game’s full list and identify the trophies relevant to the activity you plan to play.
  2. Open each candidate trophy and read its displayed requirement.
  3. Pin no more than five current objectives so the card stays focused.
  4. During play, use the control-center card to check status without closing the game.
  5. After the session, return to the game list and review what changed. Replace completed or no-longer-relevant pins.

This routine separates two questions that are easy to confuse: “What trophies exist in this game?” and “Which of those trophies am I actively working toward?” View All Trophies answers the first; the pinned card helps with the second.

Track trophy progress on PS4

Open the trophy information

  1. From the PS4 function screen, select Trophies.
  2. Select a game.
  3. Review the game’s trophy information and earned trophies.

PS4’s documented workflow is centered on reviewing the game list and the trophies you have earned. It does not use the PS5 control-center trophy card or the PS5 pinning workflow described above.

Sort earned trophies or search for details

With the game’s trophies open, press OPTIONS. Sony’s PS4 instructions describe two useful choices:

  • Sort earned trophies by date.
  • Search online for trophy details.

Date sorting is useful when you want to reconstruct when objectives were completed or find the most recently earned entries. Online searching can provide additional explanation when the console’s wording is not enough, but check that any external guide matches the correct game edition, platform, and update context.

How trophy grades and rarity differ

Grade and rarity answer different questions, so do not use one as a substitute for the other.

Label What it describes How to use it
Platinum A trophy grade listed by Sony as the most difficult in the grade order. Use the game’s trophy list to see the condition; the grade alone does not explain the task.
Gold A trophy grade. Read the individual requirement to understand what earns it.
Silver A trophy grade. Do not infer difficulty or rarity solely from the color or grade.
Bronze A trophy grade. Check the game-specific details just as you would for any other grade.
Ultra rare A rarity label based on how many players earned the same trophy. It indicates how uncommon the trophy is among players, not its grade.
Very rare A rarity label based on player completion. Compare it with other trophies only as a measure of how many players earned them.
Rare A rarity label based on player completion. It is separate from the trophy’s Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum grade.
Common A rarity label based on player completion. It does not guarantee that the objective is easy or quick.

Sony lists the grade order as Platinum, Gold, Silver, then Bronze, from most difficult to least difficult in that classification. Rarity is calculated from how many players earned the same trophy and uses the labels Ultra rare, Very rare, Rare, and Common. A Gold trophy can therefore be common, while a Bronze trophy can be rare; those labels measure different properties.

Inspect an individual requirement Select the trophy to see its details; use View All Trophies for the complete list. Select the game to review its trophy information and earned trophies.
Keep objectives visible during play Open the control center’s trophies card, select a trophy, and choose Pin Trophy; up to five can be pinned per game. The documented workflow does not include the PS5-style in-game card or pinning.
Organize earned trophies The cited workflow focuses on the game list, details, and in-game card. Press OPTIONS to sort earned trophies by date or grade.
Find additional explanations Open the trophy’s details and use an appropriate external guide if needed. Press OPTIONS and choose the documented online search option.
Compare trophies Open another player’s profile and its Overview tab, or compare from your own Trophies screen. Choose Compare Trophies from the Trophies function screen.
Manual synchronization Profile picture, Trophies, press the options button, then Sync Trophies. Open Trophies, press OPTIONS, then choose Sync With PlayStation Network.

Menu labels can change with system software updates. If a label is not in the exact position described, start from the console’s Trophies area and look for the same named action.

Manually synchronize trophies with PlayStation Network

Use manual synchronization when the trophy display needs to be refreshed between the console and PlayStation Network. Sony documents a separate path for each console.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

PS5 sync path

  1. Select your profile picture.
  2. Open Trophies.
  3. Press the options button.
  4. Select Sync Trophies.

PS4 sync path

  1. Open Trophies.
  2. Press OPTIONS.
  3. Choose Sync With PlayStation Network.

These commands are the documented manual sync options; synchronization is not a guarantee that every display, account, or game-data problem will be resolved. If the result still looks wrong, note which game, trophy, console, and profile view show the discrepancy before repeating the check or contacting PlayStation support.

What to do when a trophy or requirement seems missing

The trophy is not in the first list

On PS5, select View All Trophies. The initial available list reflects your progress, while the full-list command exposes the complete game list. On PS4, open the game from the Trophies screen and inspect its trophy information.

The requirement is unclear

Select the individual trophy and read its details rather than inferring the objective from the title, grade, or rarity. Requirements differ from game to game, and the same grade can represent very different tasks.

Your display appears out of date

Run the manual sync command for your console. Use the exact PS5 or PS4 path above, then check the game again. Sony’s instructions document the sync action but do not promise that it fixes every account or display issue.

You need to monitor several objectives

On PS5, pin up to five relevant trophies and use Pin to Side if you want the card beside the game screen. If you need more than five, keep the remaining requirements in a separate written checklist and rotate the pinned set as your session changes. PS4 has no corresponding pinned-card procedure in the documented workflow, so use its game list and your own notes.

You are checking another player’s progress

Use the comparison controls rather than assuming that a search result or a game’s leaderboard represents the person’s complete trophy record. On PS5, open the other player’s profile and its Overview tab, or start from your own Trophies screen. On PS4, choose Compare Trophies from the Trophies function screen.

Privacy and who can see trophy activity

Earned trophies are visible on a player’s profile, but Sony provides Privacy Settings that let users adjust who can see their games and gaming history. If another player’s trophies are unavailable for comparison, privacy settings may limit what is shown. Change visibility only if you are comfortable sharing that activity, and remember that a comparison view cannot reveal information the profile owner has restricted.

Privacy controls and menu placement can change with system software. Look for the console’s Privacy Settings when you need to review visibility, and verify the current wording on Sony’s support documentation before relying on a particular label.

A reliable trophy-tracking workflow

Before starting an objective

  • Open the selected game’s trophy list.
  • Read the full detail for the trophy you intend to pursue.
  • Check whether the objective’s wording imposes a condition you must remember while playing.
  • On PS5, pin it if you want an on-screen reminder.

While playing

  • Open the PS5 control center and trophies card when you need a status check.
  • Use Pin to Side when seeing the card beside the game screen is more useful than switching away.
  • On PS4, return to the Trophies screen when you need to review earned entries or use the OPTIONS sorting and online-detail commands.

After the session

  • Review the game list to confirm which trophies changed status.
  • Remove completed objectives from your PS5 pins and add the next ones, staying within the five-trophy limit per game.
  • Manually synchronize with PlayStation Network if the profile view does not reflect the result you expect.
  • Use the appropriate comparison screen only after checking the profile’s privacy visibility.

This process keeps the console’s official requirement text at the center while using pinning, sorting, comparison, and synchronization for the specific task each feature supports.

Important limits and qualifications

  • Requirements are not standardized across games. The number of trophies, their grades, and their earning conditions vary by title.
  • Grade is not rarity. Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze are grades; Ultra rare, Very rare, Rare, and Common describe how many players earned a trophy.
  • Pinning is a PS5 feature in this workflow. The documented limit is up to five trophies per game, and pinning only keeps objectives visible.
  • Sync is manual and console-specific. Use Sync Trophies on PS5 or Sync With PlayStation Network on PS4; neither command is presented as a universal fix.
  • Visibility depends on privacy settings. A comparison may be incomplete when a player limits access to games or gaming history.
  • Interfaces can be revised. The paths above follow Sony’s PlayStation Support guide for PS5 and PS4, accessed October 13, 2026; current system software may move or rename a control.

For the official console paths, trophy definitions, comparison options, privacy controls, and synchronization instructions, consult Sony’s PlayStation Support guide.
