Check the platform account or game activity view where you play: Steam surfaces playtime with game information, PlayStation offers a PS5 stats dashboard with total hours, and Xbox game-time availability and navigation can vary. The exact Xbox route is not established in current Microsoft documentation cited here, so a missing counter should not be taken as proof that you never played a game.
Where to check game time by platform
Steam
Steam tracks playtime by game and account, but the official Steam source available here does not document the current click-by-click route for viewing your own hours. Steam Support does document an important visibility control: “Marking a game as private hides your ownership, in-game status, playtime, and activity in that game.” You can mark a game private in the Steam client, from the games list on your Community Profile in a browser, or while purchasing it. If friends cannot see a game’s playtime or activity, privacy settings may explain why. Steam Support: Private games
PlayStation
On PS5, Sony describes a personalized stats dashboard that includes total hours played. Sony says that total covers hours spent in-game on a PS5 console or PlayStation Portal. This is an account-level total; Sony’s page also distinguishes it from the number of games owned or played. For the latter full-game count, demos, trials, and betas are excluded. For hours on an individual PS5 game, a third-party guide describes a profile-based view, but Sony’s cited product page does not give the current navigation steps for that per-game figure. The guide also says idle time may be included, while acknowledging Sony has not officially confirmed that behavior. Treat it as an unverified caveat, not a confirmed counting rule. Xbox
Xbox game-time details may appear in game activity or statistics, but the current exact console or app route—and whether a particular game provides an hours-played figure—could not be established from the official Microsoft documentation cited here. Epic’s Fortnite support page directs readers to Xbox-enabled console and PC instructions, but the available page information does not specify the steps. Epic Games: checking Fortnite playtime
Look for activity or statistics associated with the specific game and your Xbox account, but treat availability as game-dependent rather than guaranteed. If no hours figure appears, that alone does not establish that no playtime was recorded.

Current stats versus yearly recaps
PlayStation’s annual Wrap-Up is a retrospective event, not a permanent live playtime screen. The 2025 Wrap-Up ran from December 9, 2025, through January 8, 2026. Sony said it included most-played games and genres, total hours across single-player and multiplayer titles, and other recap details. Eligibility was limited to qualifying regional PlayStation accounts, adults, and players with at least 10 hours of gameplay during 2025. How to interpret playtime across platforms
Platform counters are not necessarily measuring the same thing. The available sources do not establish a shared rule for when a session starts or ends, how idle time is treated, or whether every game reports hours. Sony explicitly includes PS5-console and PlayStation Portal play in its total-hours description; that should not be generalized to Steam or Xbox. Compare a platform’s figures as its own account metrics, not as standardized measurements across services.

- Per-game versus total: A game’s activity view and an account-level total answer different questions. Sony’s dashboard specifically describes total hours, while its Wrap-Up provides a yearly retrospective.
- Privacy: Steam’s private-game setting can hide playtime and activity from other users, even when a player has recorded time.
- Game coverage: The sources here do not establish that every Xbox title exposes hours, and PlayStation’s full-game count excludes demos, trials, and betas.
