To track an objective in Disney Dreamlight Valley, open the menu that owns it: use Quests for story and character quests, Duties for Dreamlight Duties, Crafting for material goals, and the Event tab for event information and DreamSnaps requirements. Select the objective and choose its Track control. Event and Star Path information is not always placed in the ordinary quest list, so checking the correct screen is the fastest way to find a missing objective.
Which menu tracks each type of objective?
Dreamlight Valley uses several tracking surfaces rather than one universal event-quest list. Start by identifying what you are trying to complete.

The button prompt can differ between controller, keyboard and platform layouts. Use the on-screen prompt labeled Track (or the equivalent tracking icon) rather than relying on a particular controller button.

Regular quests are the objectives most players expect to see in the standard tracker. If a character asks you to gather items, visit a location or complete a task, use the Quests menu to make that quest active.

- Open the game’s Main Menu.
- Choose Quests.
- Highlight the quest you want to follow. Read its current objective so you know which step you are selecting; a quest can change objectives as you progress.
- Use the on-screen Track control or Track icon. The exact button prompt depends on your input device.
- Close the menu and look at the on-screen objective tracker while you play.
Tracking does not complete the quest or change its requirements. It only places the current objective where you can refer to it during exploration, gathering and conversations. If the quest advances to a new step, check the displayed objective again so you are following the new requirement rather than the one you just finished.
If the quest is selected but not visible
Reopen Quests, select the quest again and activate Track. A quest can remain in your quest list without being the objective currently shown on screen. Re-selecting its Track control is the first recovery step recommended by the game-guide instructions.
Track Dreamlight Duties
Dreamlight Duties are separate from ordinary quests. They are short goals that reward Dreamlight, and their tracking control lives in the Duties menu rather than the Quests menu.

- Open the Main Menu.
- Select Duties.
- Choose the Duty you want to work on.
- Use the tracking option shown for that Duty.
- Return to the valley and use the on-screen objective as your checklist.
When the selected goal is completed, the game guide says the most recent quest becomes tracked. That behavior can make the display appear to change immediately after you finish a Duty. If you intended to continue another quest, open Quests and select its Track control again.
Why a Duty may not appear in the quest list
A Duty is not necessarily missing just because it does not appear beside story or friendship quests. Duties use their own menu. Check Duties before searching the regular quest list, especially when the objective is a general action rather than part of a named character quest.

Track a crafting-material objective
Material goals have their own tracking entry. Use this route when the task concerns obtaining or making a crafting resource and the game presents it through the crafting interface.
- Open the Main Menu.
- Choose Crafting.
- Select the material or crafting goal you need to follow.
- Activate the tracking option displayed in that menu.
- Close the menu and gather or craft while watching the tracked requirement.
This is separate from opening a crafting station and choosing a recipe. The tracking control is in the menu’s goal view, so selecting a recipe alone does not necessarily put the broader material objective on screen.

Find live event information in the Event tab
For event objectives, open the Event tab from the main menu. Event information is organized separately because an event can include its own duties, rewards, challenge rules or dates rather than behaving like a single story quest.
- Open the Main Menu.
- Select Event.
- Review the event currently displayed and read its objective or instructions.
- Use any event-specific action or shortcut shown on that page.
Use the Event Board shortcut
The in-game Event Board is a piece of furniture that provides a shortcut to event information. It can display up to three live events. The board was introduced through the Astronomer’s Journey Star Path; it is an in-game object, not an external website or separate product.
If you have access to the board in your valley, interact with it to reach event information without navigating through every menu page. If an event is not shown there, open the main-menu Event tab directly. The board’s three-event display is a limit on what it can show at once, not proof that every event-related objective belongs in the ordinary quest tracker.

Check DreamSnaps requirements before submitting
DreamSnaps challenges use the Event interface for their instructions. The publisher’s DreamSnaps feature guidance also says that the requirements are available in Photo Mode, which is useful when you are composing the image.

- Open Main Menu > Event.
- Open the current DreamSnaps challenge and read all listed requirements before taking your final photograph.
- When arranging the scene, open Photo Mode and check the challenge requirements there as well.
- Compare the finished image with the displayed requirements before submitting.
Do not rely on a remembered requirement from a previous challenge. The published feature announcement lists a Wednesday 1:00 PM UTC schedule, but that announcement is an older feature page. If the exact opening or closing time matters, use the current in-game challenge display as the authority.
Understand Star Path Duty tracking and weekly unlocks
Star Path objectives have progression rules that are different from a normal quest. Gameloft’s Deep Dive on Star Path Changes, published August 18, 2025, describes a set called Routine Duties. The article states: “Routine Duties are a new set of duties that unlock weekly on Wednesday at 1:00 PM UTC / 9:00 AM EST / 6:00 AM PST.”
Those times are a release schedule for the Routine Duty sets described in that August 2025 overview. They are not a guarantee that every future Star Path, event or DreamSnaps challenge will use the same schedule. For a live event, check the date and time shown in the game after an update.
Routine Duties remain available after unlocking
According to the same overview, a Routine Duty set stays available after it unlocks. You do not have to finish it during the exact hour it appears. This makes the tracker useful as a running list: open the Star Path interface, choose a released Duty, and work through it when convenient.

Non-Premium progression
Non-Premium players complete the released Routine Duty sets in order. Gameloft’s overview also says they can catch up, so a missed weekly release does not permanently prevent completion of later available content. Select the next released set in sequence rather than assuming every set can be opened at once.
Premium progression
Premium players may complete released Routine Duty sets in any order, according to the August 2025 overview. If a later set is more convenient for your current activities, its availability can change which Duty you choose to track first.
Using tokens after an event
The Star Path overview describes a 48-hour grace period after an event for using remaining event tokens. Treat that period and the wider Star Path rules as update-sensitive. When an event is ending, open the live Star Path screen and verify the displayed deadline rather than assuming that every season uses identical timing.

When an objective is not where you expect, classify it by the wording and the system that created it.

- It asks for a general valley action and is labeled a Duty: use Duties.
- It asks you to obtain or make a resource through crafting: check Crafting.
- It belongs to a limited-time event: open Event and inspect the Event Board if available.
- It concerns a photograph and challenge criteria: check both Event and Photo Mode.
- It is a Star Path Duty: use the active Star Path interface and account for the release and completion rules shown for your status.
These systems can overlap in theme. For example, an event may ask you to perform an action that resembles a Dreamlight Duty, but the event’s own page may contain the relevant instructions. Do not assume that every event objective will appear under Quests.

Troubleshoot an objective that is not being tracked
The quest is in the list but not on screen
Open Quests, highlight the quest and activate Track again. Confirm that the prompt you used was the tracking control, not merely the selection or details control. Then close the menu and check the objective display.
The objective disappeared after completion
Completing a tracked Duty can cause the most recent quest to become tracked. Reopen Quests and select the quest you actually want to follow. If the completed goal was a crafting or event objective, return to that system’s menu to select another available goal.
An event task is not in Quests
Open Event, inspect the relevant event page and, if available, interact with the Event Board. Event systems can present their own objective lists. A missing entry in Quests does not by itself indicate a bug.
A DreamSnaps requirement seems different
Check the current challenge in Event and then verify it in Photo Mode. The older published schedule and instructions may not reflect a later update, so use the live in-game requirement and timing when they conflict with an older feature announcement.
The button shown in a guide does not match your controller
Button labels vary by platform and input configuration. Follow the on-screen prompt next to Track in your own game. The menu location is more reliable than memorizing a button from a controller-specific guide.
A practical tracking routine
Use this short routine whenever you start playing or switch between limited-time activities:
- Open the menu and identify whether the goal is a quest, Duty, crafting target, event instruction, DreamSnaps challenge or Star Path Duty.
- Open the matching menu instead of searching every category.
- Select the exact objective and activate Track or the tracking option shown there.
- Read the current wording after tracking; a quest or event may have multiple steps.
- After completing the goal, check which objective is now displayed. If the game switched to the most recent quest, select your preferred quest again.
- For scheduled activities, compare the in-game date and time with any published schedule, especially after an update.
What the tracking system does—and does not do
Tracking places an objective on screen so you can follow it while playing. It does not merge all quest types into one list, alter Star Path progression, extend an event deadline or replace the event’s own requirements. The correct menu determines which instructions and schedule you see.
For that reason, the most dependable approach is menu-first: Quests for ordinary quests, Duties for Dreamlight Duties, Crafting for material goals, and Event or the Event Board for live event information. Check Photo Mode for DreamSnaps and the active Star Path interface for Star Path-specific rules. This separation explains most cases where an objective appears to be missing.
