If Cyberpunk 2077 crashes on startup with Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET) installed, first launch the game with all mods disabled. If it opens, restore CET and other mod components one at a time; if it still crashes, follow the game’s general file, overlay, and graphics-driver checks. A crash alone does not establish CET as the cause, and the available official guidance does not confirm one universal Windows 11-specific fix.
Record the game version, CET version, and crash details
Before changing files, note the exact Cyberpunk 2077 version, CET version, platform (Steam, GOG, or Epic), other installed mods or loaders, the visible error, and whether CET creates a log. Also note whether the crash began after a game, mod, or graphics-driver change. These details help distinguish a compatibility issue from a broader launch failure.

CD PROJEKT RED’s support contact page for game crashes asks players to identify their game version and provide crash details. It listed version 2.31 as “Latest” when accessed on October 7, 2026; that listing can change, so check the current page rather than treating 2.31 as the latest indefinitely.
Does Cyberpunk 2077 launch with all mods disabled?
Temporarily disable or remove all mods, then try to start the game. CDPR’s mod-user troubleshooting guidance specifically says, “If your game crashes on startup, disable all your mods.” Follow the instructions for your platform and mod setup so you can restore the files afterward.

This is the key diagnostic split: if the game opens, investigate CET and the other mod components; if it still crashes, prioritize general game-launch checks. CDPR’s mod-user troubleshooting guide recommends disabling all mods for startup crashes.
If the game launches without mods, isolate CET and other components
Restore components methodically
Re-enable CET and the other mod components in a controlled sequence, testing the game after each change. If the crash returns after a particular component is restored, you have narrowed the cause; that result does not automatically prove CET itself is at fault if other mods or loaders changed at the same time. Keep track of what you re-enabled and in what order.

Check CET’s troubleshooting information and logs
Use the CET troubleshooting guide to review its relevant installation checks and log guidance. Record whether a CET log is created and any error it contains. Compare the installed CET release and the game version against current CET release information; the cited troubleshooting material does not establish a current compatible version pairing.

If the game reaches a point where the issue is the CET overlay or key configuration, CET’s guide documents resetting bindings.json. That is a targeted configuration step, not a general fix for a process that crashes before CET loads.

If the game still crashes without mods, check the game and PC launch path
With mods disabled, follow CD PROJEKT RED’s general game-crash troubleshooting guidance. Work through relevant checks and test after each change so you can tell whether the failure persists.
- Confirm that the PC meets the game’s system requirements.
- Verify the game files using the relevant option in your platform’s launcher.
- Disable overlays and close unnecessary background applications. CD PROJEKT RED advises: “If you have any applications that are using overlay features, e.g Discord, Ubisoft Connect, Galaxy etc. disable their overlays or completely disable these applications.”
- Consider a clean graphics-driver installation only if you can safely follow the graphics-card vendor’s instructions. If crashes started after a driver update, CD PROJEKT RED says reverting to the prior driver may be appropriate and recommends reporting the issue.
CD PROJEKT RED’s separate Windows launch-issues article was published on December 16, 2020, and discusses older Windows 10 builds and Windows 7. It should not be read as evidence of a specific Windows 11 fix.

Send useful crash information to CD PROJEKT RED Support
If the launch problem remains, provide the details requested on the official support page. CD PROJEKT RED asks for the latest report in %localappdata%REDEngineReportQueue, including stacktrace.txt, and a DxDiag report. Include your platform and game version, whether Phantom Liberty applies, whether you used mods, trainers, or console commands, and whether the game launches directly from binx64Cyberpunk2077.exe.
