For a quick screenshot of part of the screen, press Windows + Shift + S, select the area, then click the notification to open and save or edit the capture. If you miss the notification, press Ctrl + V in an app such as Paint; the capture may be on the clipboard rather than saved as a file.
Take a screenshot of a selected area
- Press Windows + Shift + S.
- Choose a capture shape, then select the region, window, or screen area you need.
- Click the notification that appears to open the capture, edit it if needed, and save it.
Samsung Brazil identifies this as its main screenshot shortcut. Windows offers rectangular, freeform, window, and full-screen capture shapes; choose the one that matches what you want to include. If you do not see a notification, try pasting the capture with Ctrl + V into a document or image editor. Samsung Brazil’s screenshot guidance notes that model and Windows-version differences can affect command names and locations.
Use the Print Screen key instead
Look for a key labeled Print Screen or a shortened form such as PrntScrn, PrtScn, PrtScr, or PrtSc. On a Samsung laptop or compact keyboard, Samsung’s guidance pairs it with the Fn key:
- Press Fn + Print Screen (using the label shown on your keyboard).
- Open Paint or another app that accepts images and press Ctrl + V.
- Save the pasted image from that app.
The shortcut may copy the screenshot without an obvious on-screen response. Pasting is a quick way to check whether it worked. Key labels and mappings are not identical across every model. Samsung Uzbekistan’s instructions describe the Print Screen labels and the Fn combination.

Capture with Snipping Tool, without a shortcut
- Open the Start menu and type Snipping Tool.
- Open the app and select New.
- Capture the area you want, then save the image from the tool.
This menu-driven route is useful if the keyboard shortcut is inconvenient or not working. Samsung says Snipping Tool has been available since Windows 7, though labels and menus can vary by Windows version. See Samsung’s Snipping Tool and screenshot instructions.
If your screenshot seems to be missing
- Look for a notification. After Windows + Shift + S, click the notification in the screen corner to open the capture.
- Check the clipboard. Press Ctrl + V in Paint or another document. If the image appears, save it from that app.
- Try the capture again. Repeat Windows + Shift + S and select the area once more.
- Check your keyboard and model-specific instructions. If Fn + Print Screen does not work, verify the key mapping for your exact Galaxy Book model. Samsung explains that Fn Lock can let hotkeys work without holding Fn, but that general behavior does not establish a universal Print Screen mapping. Samsung’s Fn Lock guidance describes the feature.
Need a video, not a still screenshot?
A screenshot captures a still image; screen recording is a separate feature. Samsung says its Screen Recorder app is available only on Windows 11 Galaxy Book5 and Galaxy Book4 PCs running One UI 6.0 or later. Eligible users can search for Screen Recorder from the taskbar and start recording from its toolbar. Samsung’s Screen Recorder instructions list the eligibility and steps.
