To run Soulmask’s Shifting Sands Egypt DLC on a hosted or dedicated server, stop the server, change its map value to DLC_Level01_Main, save the setting, and start the server again. The normal Cloud Mist Forest map uses Level01_Main. Every player who joins must own both Soulmask and the Shifting Sands DLC on Steam.
A map-value change selects a separate world; it does not merge your existing Cloud Mist Forest world or automatically move characters and items. If players need access to both maps, configure a two-server cluster with cross-server transfer and an in-game portal instead of repeatedly replacing one server’s map.

The procedure applies to a hosted or dedicated Soulmask server with a control panel or command-line configuration. The exact label varies by provider, but the setting is usually called Server Map, Map, Startup, or Commandline.
- Server access: You need permission to stop the server and edit its startup configuration.
- Downtime: The server must be stopped before changing the map. Players will be disconnected, and the world will be unavailable until the restart finishes.
- DLC entitlement: Shifting Sands is a separate Steam DLC. The base game is required, and joining players must own the DLC.
- Save expectations: Cloud Mist Forest and Shifting Sands are separate worlds with separate save data. Do not treat the operation as a world migration.
- Backup: Make a provider-level backup or download a copy of the current save before changing the setting, particularly if the server has an established community.
The Steam listing showed a price of $19.99 when checked in 2026. Steam prices, regional pricing, taxes, and promotions can change, so check the current store listing before buying.

Use the correct Soulmask map code

Enter DLC_Level01_Main exactly as shown, including capital letters and underscores. A typo, an extra space, or selecting a similarly named test or event map can prevent the server from starting the intended world.
Switch a hosted or dedicated server to Shifting Sands
1. Stop the server cleanly
- Open your hosting control panel or dedicated-server management tool.
- Choose Stop or Shut down and wait until the status confirms that the process has ended.
- Do not edit the map while the server is still running. A running process can overwrite startup settings or leave the world in an inconsistent state.
2. Open the map or startup setting
Look for a page named Server Map, Startup, Configuration, or an equivalent command-line editor. Some hosts expose a drop-down; others provide a text field containing the map name.

Replace the existing Cloud Mist Forest value, normally Level01_Main, with DLC_Level01_Main. If the panel offers a preset, choose the entry labeled Shifting Sands (Egypt DLC) rather than typing a different display name into a raw command field.
4. Save or apply the change
Click Save, Apply, or the panel’s equivalent. Stay on the configuration page long enough to confirm that the new value persists; some panels discard an edit if you navigate away without applying it.

5. Start or restart the server
Click Start or Restart. Allow the startup process to complete before inviting players. A first launch after a map change can take longer while the new world is initialized.
6. Confirm that the intended world loaded
Use the panel’s status information or server-console view to confirm that the active map is DLC_Level01_Main. If the server still presents Cloud Mist Forest, stop it again and inspect the saved startup value rather than changing files while it is online.
Provider-specific ways to make the same change
Standard hosting panels
Documentation from GhostCap, Game Host Bros, and XGamingServer describes the same sequence: stop the Soulmask server, change the map in the panel’s map or startup field to DLC_Level01_Main, save, and start the server. The wording of buttons differs, but the map value does not.
Commandline Manager
On a host that uses Pingperfect’s Commandline Manager, stop the server first, select the command line named Shifting Sands (Egypt DLC), and start the server. The preset supplies the DLC map value without requiring you to edit the string manually.

Self-managed dedicated machines
If your provider exposes a raw startup command instead of a web form, edit the map argument in that command while the Soulmask process is stopped. Preserve the rest of the command exactly as supplied by the host. The required map identifier remains DLC_Level01_Main; the surrounding syntax depends on the provider’s launcher.
What happens to your existing world and characters
Changing one server from Level01_Main to DLC_Level01_Main selects another world. XGamingServer documents separate save locations for those two map values, and GhostCap and Game Host Bros warn that a straightforward map switch does not transfer existing character data.

Your Cloud Mist Forest buildings, storage, map progress, and other world state remain associated with the original save. Do not delete the old save while testing the DLC map, because changing the value back to Level01_Main is the way to return to that world.

Because hosts organize files differently, the panel may show world identifiers, save slots, or backup entries rather than readable folders. The important distinction is the map-specific save association, not the folder name visible in a particular host’s interface.

Do all players need the Egypt DLC?
Yes. Shifting Sands is sold as a separate Steam DLC and requires the base game. A player who does not own the DLC should not be expected to join a server running DLC_Level01_Main. Have each member verify ownership on the Steam account used to launch Soulmask before scheduling the server change.
Owning the base game alone is sufficient for Cloud Mist Forest, but it does not grant entitlement to the Egypt world. DLC ownership is per Steam account, so family members or alternate accounts need their own entitlement where Steam’s sharing rules do not provide access.
Simple map switch versus a two-server cluster
Use a simple switch when the group is willing to play one world at a time. Use a cluster when both worlds must remain available and characters need a supported route between them.

How a two-server Shifting Sands cluster works
EmeraldHost documents a layout with one main server and a second server designated as the Shifting Sands client server. The servers use cross-server settings and an in-game portal terminal to provide movement between worlds. This is a different architecture from repeatedly editing one server’s map field.

Plan the two server instances
- Keep the existing Cloud Mist Forest instance on
Level01_Main. - Create or assign a second Soulmask server for Shifting Sands and set that instance to
DLC_Level01_Mainusing the stop-edit-save-start process. - Give each instance its own save and administrative identity so a backup or restart on one does not overwrite the other.
Configure cross-server options
Use the host’s cluster or cross-server settings to designate the main server and the Shifting Sands client server. The exact fields, addresses, and credentials depend on the provider, so copy the values required by that host rather than mixing settings from unrelated panels.

Place and test the portal terminal
After both servers are online and linked, use the game’s portal terminal as the travel entry point. Test with a non-critical character first: confirm that the destination loads, that the character arrives on the intended server, and that returning does not alter the original world’s save.
Account for the first-created character limitation
EmeraldHost notes that the first-created character has transfer limitations. Treat that account as a special case during planning and verify the current host documentation before promising unrestricted travel to your community. Do not assume that a cluster removes every character restriction.
Shifting Sands content and why the map matters
Steam describes Shifting Sands as an Egypt-themed, anti-gravity world with a buildable Solar Barge and new masks. The store listing says: “Soulmask: Shifting Sands features a world as large as the base game, with 500+ hours of content.” That figure is the publisher’s store description, not a guaranteed playtime for every player; actual time depends on pace, multiplayer activity, and how much optional content a group completes.
Those features exist in the DLC world selected by DLC_Level01_Main. They will not appear simply because a player owns the DLC while the server continues running Level01_Main.
Troubleshooting a failed or unexpected switch
The panel keeps showing Cloud Mist Forest
- Stop the server again and verify that the saved value is exactly
DLC_Level01_Main. - Check whether the panel has separate fields for the selected map and the startup command; update the field that actually controls launch.
- If a preset is available, select Shifting Sands (Egypt DLC) instead of entering a display name in a raw text field.
- Start only after the panel confirms that the change was applied.
The server will not start after editing
- Look for a typo, missing underscore, incorrect capitalization, or quotation marks inserted into the map value.
- Restore the previous known-good value,
Level01_Main, to determine whether the problem is the map setting or a broader server issue. - Use the host’s support channel if the preset fails; provide the exact map value and the time of the attempted restart.
Players cannot join the DLC server
- Confirm that the player owns the Shifting Sands DLC on the same Steam account used to launch the game.
- Confirm that the base game is installed and updated.
- Verify that the server is fully started on
DLC_Level01_Main, not still restarting or loading the previous world.
A returning player cannot find a character
This is consistent with the separate-world behavior of a basic map switch. Return the server to the map associated with the character’s original save, or use a properly configured cluster if supported transfer is the goal. Do not create a new character or overwrite backups until you have confirmed which map save contains the original progress.
The group wants both maps without repeated restarts
A single server cannot keep both map values active at once. Preserve the Cloud Mist Forest instance, run a second instance on DLC_Level01_Main, and configure the host’s cross-server and portal features. Plan around the documented transfer limitations, especially for the first-created character.
