You can move your existing mobile number to Mint Mobile during the normal activation process. Before you start, confirm that your phone is compatible with Mint’s network and unlocked, then collect your current carrier’s account number, the correct transfer PIN, and billing ZIP code. Buy a Mint plan, choose a physical SIM or eSIM, select the option to keep your current number, and submit the requested details.
Do not cancel the old wireless service while the transfer is in progress. Leave the old SIM in the phone until Mint confirms that the number move is complete; then install or activate the Mint SIM. Mint does not publish one guaranteed completion time for every carrier, so plan around a handoff rather than a promised number of minutes.
What you need before switching
A number transfer, often called a port, moves your telephone number from your current carrier to Mint. The number itself is transferred as part of Mint activation; you do not submit a separate port request after activation. Prepare the items below before opening the activation flow.
- An unlocked, compatible phone. Mint’s device checker is the authority for your exact model. Compatibility and coverage depend on the device and location. Mint operates on T-Mobile’s network, but that does not make coverage identical in every building, neighborhood, or rural area.
- Your current carrier’s account number. This is the wireless billing account identifier, not the phone’s IMEI, serial number, or your telephone number unless your carrier specifically uses the number as the account ID.
- The required transfer credential. Depending on the carrier, this may be an account PIN, a number-transfer PIN, or another port-out authorization. The terminology and retrieval method vary.
- Your billing ZIP code. Use the ZIP code recorded on the existing wireless account, not necessarily the ZIP code where you are activating Mint.
- A Mint activation method. You can receive a physical SIM by mail or use eSIM if the phone supports it.
- Access to the current line during the changeover. Keep the existing service available so you can receive carrier messages and calls while Mint validates the request.
Write the account details exactly as your current carrier displays them. A single incorrect digit, an outdated ZIP code, or the wrong kind of PIN can cause the request to be rejected or delayed.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
1. Check phone compatibility and coverage
Run Mint’s device check
Use Mint’s compatibility checker with the phone you actually intend to use. Check the precise model and variant rather than relying on a product family name such as “Galaxy” or “iPhone.” A phone can be technically similar to another model yet lack the bands, software support, or eSIM capability required for a particular activation.
The checker is also the right place to confirm whether your phone can be transferred to Mint. If the result says the device is unsupported, do not begin a number move with that phone. Resolve the device issue first or select another compatible, unlocked phone.
Check service where you use the phone
Mint identifies T-Mobile as its underlying network. Coverage is still location-dependent: service at home, work, school, highways, and indoor locations can differ. Review Mint’s coverage information for the places that matter to you instead of assuming that a network-level statement guarantees reception at your address.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCoverage checking and number transfer are separate decisions. A successful port does not compensate for a coverage problem, so verify the practical service area before ordering a SIM or starting activation.
2. Make sure the phone is unlocked
Mint requires a phone that is both compatible and unlocked when you bring your own device. A carrier lock prevents another carrier’s SIM or eSIM profile from registering, even when the hardware would otherwise work.
How to resolve a lock
- Ask the current carrier whether the phone is unlocked and, if not, what eligibility steps apply.
- Complete any requirements the carrier gives you, such as paying an eligible device balance or meeting its unlock policy.
- Have the carrier confirm the unlock before starting Mint activation. Do not assume that a request submitted to the carrier has completed.
Your phone’s screen passcode is unrelated to a carrier unlock. You will still use the screen passcode to access the phone, but Mint needs the device to accept a different carrier’s service.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
3. Get the correct account number and transfer PIN
Mint’s activation flow asks for information held by the old carrier. The exact labels differ, so use the carrier’s instructions rather than guessing.
Where to look
- Sign in to the current carrier’s online account and look under account, billing, security, or transfer settings.
- Contact the carrier’s support team and explicitly request the information needed to transfer a mobile number to another carrier.
- Check whether the carrier generates a temporary number-transfer PIN. Some carriers use a dedicated transfer PIN instead of the ordinary account PIN.
Do not substitute the phone’s unlock code, voicemail PIN, payment-card PIN, or a random security code. If the carrier offers both an account PIN and a number-transfer PIN, follow its port-out instructions and use the requested one. Mint notes that PIN requirements vary by carrier.
Record the account identity exactly
Copy the account number, transfer PIN, and billing ZIP without extra spaces or changed formatting. If your carrier recently changed the account or billing address, confirm which ZIP is currently attached to the line. Keep the old carrier’s support contact available in case Mint reports that a credential does not match.
4. Choose a physical SIM or eSIM
Mint supports two ways to receive service. The practical choice depends on your phone’s capabilities and whether you can wait for a mailed card.
| Option | Device requirement | How it is delivered | Activation path |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical SIM | A compatible phone with a SIM slot | Mint mails the SIM | Insert the card when the activation instructions tell you to, then complete setup in the app or website |
| eSIM | A compatible, unlocked phone with eSIM support | Digital delivery to the device | Use Mint’s app or setup instructions to download and activate the eSIM |
eSIM is not available on every compatible phone. If your device lacks eSIM support, choose the physical SIM option. Conversely, selecting eSIM does not remove the requirement that the phone be unlocked and eligible for Mint.
Neither method is universally faster or better. Device support determines the available route, while delivery logistics determine whether a physical card can be used immediately.

5. Buy a Mint plan and start activation
Purchase the Mint plan you want, then open Mint’s activation flow in the app or on the website. The labels can change slightly as Mint updates its interface, but the number-transfer choice is explicit.
- Open Mint activation after you have the phone, account credentials, and SIM method ready.
- When asked whether you want a new number or to retain an existing one, choose “Keep your current one.”
- Enter the mobile number you are moving and the ZIP code associated with the old carrier account.
- Select your current carrier from the list.
- Enter the account number and the PIN or number-transfer PIN requested by the form.
- Review every digit and submit the transfer request as part of activation.
Use the information for the specific line being moved. A family account’s master login, an old account number, or credentials from another line can produce a mismatch even when the phone number is correct.
6. Keep the old service available during the handoff
Do not cancel the existing wireless plan before Mint activation and the number transfer are complete. The old account must remain available while the port is being processed, and the old SIM may be needed to receive calls or texts during validation.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Mint’s number-transfer guidance says to leave the old SIM in the phone until Mint confirms completion. Once Mint provides that confirmation, replace the physical SIM with the Mint SIM, or finish the eSIM installation if you selected digital activation. Follow the on-screen restart or network-update instructions rather than removing the old SIM at the beginning.
What completion should look like
- The Mint activation flow reports that the transfer has completed or the Mint line is active.
- The phone registers on Mint after the new SIM or eSIM is enabled.
- Incoming calls and text messages to the transferred number arrive through Mint.
- Outgoing calls, texts, and mobile data work with Wi-Fi turned off.
There is no universal Mint promise that every port will finish in minutes or within a fixed number of hours. The reviewed Mint instructions do not establish a carrier-by-carrier completion schedule. Treat any individual claim that a transfer happened “instantly” as a personal marketing testimonial, not a service-time guarantee.
7. Move multiple lines in the right order
If you are moving several numbers from one account, do not submit every line at once. Mint advises activating the lines one at a time, with the primary account-holder line last.

- Choose a non-primary line and complete its activation and transfer.
- Verify that the first line can call, text, and use data on Mint.
- Repeat the process for each additional line.
- Move the primary account-holder line only after the other lines are working.
This order helps preserve account access while the other numbers are being transferred. Keep each line’s account details organized separately; a shared billing account can still require line-specific information.

Common problems and how to correct them
Mint says the phone is incompatible
Re-enter the exact model in Mint’s checker and verify that you are not confusing a regional variant with the supported model. If the checker still rejects it, use another compatible phone. Do not proceed on the assumption that an unsupported device will work after the number is moved.
The phone is locked
Contact the current carrier and ask for an unlock review before activating Mint. A device can show a clean account balance and still remain locked under the carrier’s policy, so obtain confirmation rather than relying on an assumption.
The PIN is rejected
Stop trying random codes. Ask the old carrier whether Mint needs the ordinary account PIN or a separately generated number-transfer PIN, then request a fresh credential if necessary. Confirm the billing ZIP and account number at the same time; a correct PIN paired with the wrong account identifier will still fail.
The transfer request is pending
Do not cancel the old line or repeatedly submit new requests while the first request is being processed. Check Mint’s activation status and use the old carrier’s support channel to verify whether the submitted account information matches its records. Because no fixed completion time applies to every carrier, follow the status instructions rather than a clock-based promise.
The new SIM is installed but calls or texts do not arrive
First confirm that Mint has marked the transfer complete. Then verify that the Mint SIM or eSIM is enabled, restart the phone, and test with Wi-Fi disabled. If the old SIM was removed before confirmation, put it back while following Mint’s instructions and wait for the activation status to update.

eSIM is unavailable
Check the phone’s specifications and Mint’s compatibility result for eSIM support. If the phone is compatible with Mint but lacks eSIM capability, use the physical SIM option. An eSIM-capable phone may also need to be unlocked before Mint can install the profile.
After activation: a practical verification checklist
Once Mint confirms the transfer, take a few minutes to verify all functions before disposing of the old SIM or changing account settings.
- Place an incoming call to the transferred number from another phone.
- Send a text message to the number and reply from the Mint line.
- Make an outgoing call and send an outgoing text.
- Turn off Wi-Fi and load a webpage or use another data-dependent app.
- Check that caller ID displays the transferred number where your phone exposes that setting.
- Open Mint’s account or app view and confirm that the intended line is active.
- Keep the old carrier’s account records until any final billing or device obligations are settled.
If one service works and another does not, record the exact symptom, time, SIM type, and activation status before contacting support. That information helps distinguish a completed port from a phone-setting or network-registration issue.

Can I keep my current phone number?
Yes. Mint provides a “Keep your current one” choice during activation. You supply the existing number and the old carrier’s requested account details as part of that process.
Do I need to buy a new phone?
Not necessarily. Bringing your existing phone is the normal path when the device passes Mint’s compatibility check and is unlocked. A replacement phone is only relevant if the current device fails one of those requirements.
Can I use eSIM?
Use eSIM only when the particular phone supports it and is unlocked. Otherwise, choose Mint’s mailed physical SIM.
Should I cancel my old service first?
No. Keep the old service in place until Mint activation and the number transfer are complete. Cancelling early can remove the service needed while the port is being validated.
