You can move an existing Verizon account from MyPlan to the Simplicity phone plan in My Verizon, either on the Verizon website or in the My Verizon app. On the website, sign in as an Account Owner or Account Manager and open Account > My plan > Plan overview > Change plan. In the app, open the Mobile or Home tab, open your current plan, tap the applicable mobile number if requested, and choose Change plan.
The most important restriction is account-wide: Verizon says every line on the account must move to Simplicity, including connected-device lines that need a compatible connected-device plan. You do not have to buy a phone to make the change. You can bring your existing device, and Verizon lists several other device and payment choices when activating a Simplicity line.
What changes when you leave MyPlan for Simplicity
This is a plan change on your existing Verizon account. It is not a transfer of ownership, a move to a different account, or a requirement to replace your phone. You start it through the account’s Change plan workflow in My Verizon.

Moving to Simplicity has one account-level consequence that matters before you begin: Verizon’s Simplicity FAQ states, “Switching to Simplicity requires that all lines on your account switch to the plan.” A single phone line generally cannot be moved while other phone lines remain on MyPlan.
Check your account before starting
A few checks prevent the most common surprises during the change.
Confirm that you are changing the same account
The instructions below apply when you are keeping the lines and billing relationship on the current Verizon account. If a line is moving to another Verizon account or the person responsible for billing is changing, use Verizon’s separate Transfer Your Service process instead. That process is designed to move lines and billing responsibility between accounts.

Include all smartphone lines and any connected-device lines. Simplicity requires all account lines to move. A connected device cannot remain on its old arrangement while the phone lines move; it needs a Simplicity-compatible connected-device plan.
Decide whether you need a phone at all
The plan change itself does not require a new phone, SIM tool, case, charger, or other physical product. If your current device works with the service, bringing it is one of Verizon’s listed choices. You can consider a different device only if you want one, not because the plan change forces a purchase.
Review the offer shown in My Verizon
Prices, discounts, and perks are account-specific and can change. Before confirming, read the plan summary and any perk selections displayed for your account. Do not rely on an old price remembered from an advertisement or a previous bill.

Switch from MyPlan to Simplicity on the Verizon website
Use the website when you want the full account overview and a larger review screen.

- Open the plan controls. Select Account, then My plan, then Plan overview.
- Start a plan change. Select Change plan.
- Choose Simplicity. Select the Verizon Simplicity plan presented for your account. If the page asks you to select perks, make those selections now.
- Choose an effective date if prompted. Use the date offered by the page and check the resulting summary. The screen may present the change as immediate or provide a date-selection control; follow the option actually shown for your account.
- Review every line and selection. Confirm that the account-wide move includes the phone lines and any connected-device lines. Check the displayed price, discounts, perks, and effective date.
- Accept the terms. Read the terms presented by Verizon and accept them when you are ready to proceed.
- Submit the change. Select Change to Verizon Simplicity Plan. Wait for the confirmation rather than closing the page while it is processing.
If the Simplicity option is not available in the plan picker, first check whether every line on the account is eligible for a compatible Simplicity arrangement. A connected-device line that cannot move to a compatible plan can prevent an account-wide switch.
Switch in the My Verizon app
The app uses a shorter path, but the same account-wide rule applies.
- Open the My Verizon app. Start from either the Mobile tab or the Home tab.
- Open your current plan. Tap the plan currently associated with the account.
- Choose the line when needed. If the app displays multiple mobile numbers, tap the relevant mobile number to continue.
- Tap Change plan. This opens the available plan choices for that account and line.
- Select Simplicity. Review the Simplicity details and select any perks the app offers during the flow.
- Review and confirm. Check the lines included, the displayed price and discounts, any selected perks, and the effective date if one is shown. Accept the terms and submit the change.
The app and website perform the same kind of plan change. If the app does not show the expected option, sign in on the website as an Account Owner or Account Manager to inspect the full plan overview and all lines.
What happens after you confirm
Verizon says a plan change can take up to 15 minutes to appear. During that interval, My Verizon or the phone may still display the previous plan. Avoid submitting the change repeatedly while the first request is processing.

Once the new plan is visible, reopen the account summary and verify that the expected lines and perks are present. If you selected a future effective date, the final plan may not appear until that date.
Why all lines must move to Simplicity
Verizon’s requirement is broader than “all smartphone lines.” The account-wide switch covers every line associated with the account, with connected devices handled through compatible connected-device plans.
Multiple smartphone lines
On a family or multi-line account, you generally cannot leave one smartphone on MyPlan and move only another smartphone to Simplicity. Start the change only after you are comfortable moving the account’s phone lines together.

Connected-device lines
If the account includes a connected device, that line must also move to a Simplicity-compatible connected-device plan. Review the connected-device portion of the plan summary before submitting; it is part of the same account-level decision.
A smartphone with a second number
Verizon says that when a smartphone has a second number and you migrate to Simplicity, both the number and the Second Number perk transfer. You should still verify the second number in the confirmation summary after the change appears.
Do you need a new phone?
No. Switching plans and obtaining a device are separate decisions. Verizon lists four device choices when activating a Simplicity line:

- Bring an existing device.
- Pay over time with a Device Payment Plan.
- Use Simplicity Plus or Simplicity Pro.
- Buy a full-price or certified pre-owned device.
These choices mean the plan change does not automatically create a hardware order. If you bring your current phone, the practical task is the plan migration in My Verizon. If you want a different phone, review the payment or purchase choice shown during activation and keep that decision separate from the plan-selection confirmation.

Change plan versus Transfer Your Service
These Verizon workflows solve different problems.
Use Change plan when
- You are staying on the same Verizon account.
- You want the account’s lines moved from MyPlan to Simplicity.
- The current account owner and billing relationship remain in place.
Start at Account > My plan > Plan overview > Change plan on the website, or use Change plan in the app.
Use Transfer Your Service when
- A line is moving from one Verizon account to another.
- Billing responsibility is moving to another person or account.
Starting a transfer when you only need a plan change can put you into the wrong process. For a same-account move from MyPlan to Simplicity, remain in the Manage plan or Change plan workflow.

The Simplicity plan is not listed
Check the account for every line, including connected devices. The all-lines requirement means an incompatible connected-device arrangement can block the move. Also confirm that you are using an Account Owner or Account Manager profile on the website.
Only one phone appears in the app
From the Mobile or Home tab, open the current plan and look for the line-selection step. If the app does not expose the other lines, use the website’s Plan overview, where the account-level change can be reviewed in one place.

The old plan still appears after confirmation
Allow up to 15 minutes for the change to appear. If you changed the plan online, restart the phone afterward, as Verizon says a restart can help phone performance after an online plan change.

A second number is missing from the view
Recheck the affected smartphone after the new plan is displayed. Verizon says the second number and Second Number perk transfer with the migration, so the number should be associated with that line rather than treated as a separate plan change.
You are asked to buy a phone
Review the activation choices instead of assuming a purchase is mandatory. Verizon lists bringing an existing device as an option, along with Device Payment Plan financing, Simplicity Plus or Simplicity Pro, and full-price or certified pre-owned device choices.
The account should belong to someone else
Stop the plan-change workflow and use Transfer Your Service. A plan change adjusts service on the current account; it does not move billing responsibility or ownership to another Verizon account.
Practical examples
One smartphone on one account
Sign in, open the plan overview, choose Change plan, select Simplicity, review the offer, accept the terms, and submit. You can keep the current phone if you want to.
A household account with several smartphones
Prepare to move the account’s smartphone lines together. Review the plan summary for every number, choose the available perks, and confirm only after the account-wide result is acceptable.
An account with a connected device
Include the connected-device line in your review. The line must move to a Simplicity-compatible connected-device plan as part of the account change.
A phone with a second number
Move the account through the normal Change plan flow. The second number and Second Number perk transfer with that smartphone, then can be checked in the updated account view.

Do not use Change plan as a substitute for an account transfer. Use Transfer Your Service because that process handles the move between accounts and the associated billing responsibility.
