You can move a Fitbit account from inside the Google Health app, while signed in with the Fitbit credentials you already use. During the move, review the historical data and account setup shown on screen, then choose what to transfer to the destination Google Account. Google says you keep all historical data you choose to move.
Make a separate export first if you need an archive you control. An export downloads a copy; it does not move the account. The account move is a one-way action, so verify the destination account, selected history and family arrangements before confirming.
Important timing: Google says Fitbit-account access ended on May 19, 2026, and that download or deletion requests were available before deletion processing began on July 15, 2026. Both dates have passed. Some accounts may still show a migration prompt during processing, but availability is not guaranteed. If the prompt is missing, contact Google support rather than assuming your data has transferred.

Migration, export and app connections are different actions
These three routes solve different problems. Selecting the wrong one can leave you with a backup file but no active Google Health account, or with a connected app that receives only new activity.

For the safest sequence, identify the login that still works, export what you can, complete the in-app move only after checking the destination Google Account, and then verify history and connected services one by one.
Check eligibility and prepare before moving
Confirm which sign-in you have
Open the Fitbit sign-in you normally use and determine whether it is already a Google Account or still a legacy Fitbit login. The export instructions differ, and the credentials you enter in Google Health must be the Fitbit login associated with the history you want to retain.
Check the destination Google Account
Decide which Google Account should own the migrated data before opening the confirmation screen. If several Google Accounts are active on your phone, sign out of unused accounts or otherwise make the intended destination unmistakable. Do not confirm a move simply to test the flow: Google documents the completed move as irreversible.

Consider the post-deadline status
The published Fitbit-access deadline was May 19, 2026. Google’s support information says users could download or delete data before deletion processing started on July 15, 2026, and notes that some people might still be able to migrate during processing. On October 17, 2026, those dates are in the past. Your account may still present a move option, but no general eligibility guarantee can be made.
If Google Health does not offer the move prompt, contact Google support with the email address used for Fitbit and explain that the account was not migrated before the published deadlines. Avoid creating a new Fitbit profile with a different address while trying to recover the old history; a new profile will not be the same account.

Make a backup when the controls are available
An export is optional for the move, but it is the only separate archive described by Google. Save the resulting files somewhere you control, such as an encrypted computer drive, and keep the email confirming the request until the download is complete. Large archives may take up to a few days to prepare.
How to move Fitbit into Google Health
Use the following sequence in the Google Health app. Labels can change as Google updates the app, but the documented flow starts with the existing Fitbit credentials and an on-screen account-move prompt.
- Open Google Health. Install or open the Google Health app on the device where you want to manage the destination account.
- Start with the Fitbit login. At the account or sign-in screen, choose the option to sign in with your existing Fitbit credentials. Do not substitute a different Google Account unless it is the destination you selected during preparation.
- Open the account-move prompt. Google Health should display the option to move the Fitbit account to a Google Account. If it does not appear, stop and contact Google support; do not infer that an empty Google Health profile contains your Fitbit history.
- Review the data and setup shown. Read the historical data categories, profile details and account setup presented by the app. Check that the Fitbit identity and the destination Google Account are the ones you expect.
- Select the history to move. Choose the historical Fitbit data offered by the flow. Google’s statement is limited to the data you choose to move: it says that selected historical data is kept in the Google Account, not that every possible Fitbit field is guaranteed to transfer identically.
- Review family arrangements. If the account belongs to a Fitbit family, check each member before continuing. Children under 13, or the applicable age in their country, move with the guardian. Older children and adults must move their own accounts, and a family migration has Google Family Group requirements.
- Confirm only after the review. Accept the move when the destination account, selected data and family plan are correct. The completed account move cannot be undone.
- Wait for the move to finish. Keep the app open long enough to receive its completion state, and note any warning about data or connections that need separate attention.
Export a copy before or after the move
Exporting and migrating are independent. If the export controls remain available, request the copy before confirming the account move so you have an archive even if a setting or connection does not reappear as expected.
If you already sign in with a Google Account
- Open Google’s data-download controls for the Google Account.
- In the list of products, include Google Health.
- Continue through the download settings and create the export.
- Download the archive when Google notifies you that it is ready, then store it in a location you control.
This route exports Google Health data associated with that Google Account. It is not a second Fitbit migration and does not change which account owns the data.
If you still use a legacy Fitbit login
- Open Fitbit settings and go to Data Export.
- Select Request Data for the full archive.
- Confirm the request using the email Google sends.
- Wait for the archive notification. Google says a large archive can take up to a few days.
- Download the archive and keep more than one copy if the records are important.
For a smaller download, use the separate export option for legacy users. Choose the required time period, data types and file format before submitting the request. A date-limited export is useful when you need a focused record for a clinician, insurer or personal analysis, while the full archive is better as a long-term fallback.

What should carry over, and what needs checking
Historical data you select
Google’s migration help says, “You’ll keep all historical data that you choose to move to your Google Account.” Treat that as the supported guarantee. It does not establish a field-by-field promise for every historical entry, device setting, profile option, family relationship or third-party link. After migration, compare representative dates and categories rather than assuming that an apparently complete dashboard proves every record transferred.
Settings and connections
Review notification choices, goals, devices and connected services in Google Health. A service that was linked to Fitbit may require a new permission grant in Google Health, and a connection that appears in the interface may still have no historical backfill. Keep the export archive until you have checked the records you need.
Family accounts
Family moves have an age boundary. Children under 13, or the country-specific equivalent, move with the guardian. Older children and adults must perform their own account moves. Google also requires the relevant Google Family Group arrangement. List each family member and confirm who has moved before deleting or abandoning any old login.
Reconnect other health apps safely
Android: Health Connect
Google Health can share data through Health Connect on Android 9 or later. The documented setup requires an adult Google Account. During setup, choose the data categories and permissions that each compatible app may read or write. Granting access allows compatible apps and devices to contribute data, but it does not prove that they can import your older Fitbit history.
After enabling a connection, check the destination app’s date range and source labels. If it shows only records created after the connection date, that is an app import limitation rather than evidence that your Google Health history was deleted. Keep the archive for older records.

iPhone: Apple Health
On iPhone, Google Health supports sharing through Apple Health. Select the categories and permissions in the Apple Health sharing controls, then inspect the receiving app for the first synchronized entries. As with Health Connect, the destination app determines whether it can read historical records; a successful permission grant is not a guarantee of Fitbit backfill.
Other devices and services
Google lists connections including Apple Watch, Garmin, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Whoop and Oura, along with apps such as Strava and MyFitnessPal. Availability and the direction of data flow depend on the specific integration. Connect one service at a time and verify its source, date and activity type before adding another, so duplicate records are easier to identify.
Strava’s historical-exercise limitation
Google’s connection guidance specifically warns that previous exercises may not upload to Strava through the normal connection. It recommends exporting activities as TCX files for that workaround. A TCX export is a separate file-transfer process; it does not mean that every Fitbit metric, such as sleep or heart-rate history, will appear in Strava.
Verify the migration with a checklist
Use a few known records from different periods and categories. Verification is more reliable than checking only the latest day.
- Sign in to the intended Google Account and confirm that the Fitbit profile is attached to it.
- Check an older date, a recent date and at least one period with a known workout or sleep entry.
- Inspect the categories you actually use, such as activity, sleep, heart rate or weight, and note any category that is absent.
- Review family members separately; do not assume an adult or older child moved with the guardian.
- Open each connected app and confirm its data source, most recent synchronization time and earliest visible record.
- Compare any missing or transformed records with the downloaded export before requesting support.
- Keep the archive until the destination apps and any person who relies on the records have confirmed access.
Troubleshooting common failure points
The Fitbit move prompt is missing
Check that you entered Google Health with the existing Fitbit credentials and that the intended Google Account is active. Because the published access and deletion-processing dates have passed, the missing prompt may reflect account eligibility rather than a phone error. Try the current Google Health app once, then contact Google support with the original Fitbit login if the option remains unavailable.

The wrong Google Account is displayed
Stop before confirmation. Switch to the intended destination account using the account controls, or sign out of other Google Accounts and restart the flow. Do not proceed and plan to “fix it later”; the completed move cannot be reversed.
The archive email never arrives
Check the inbox and spam folder for the address associated with the Fitbit or Google Account, verify that the request was confirmed, and allow the stated preparation period for a large archive. If the export control has disappeared after the July 15, 2026 processing date, ask Google support whether the account can still be exported.
A connected app has no old workouts
Review the app’s import documentation and its permission categories. Some integrations receive new data only, and Google specifically notes that previous Strava exercises may not upload normally. Use the app’s supported file-import method, such as TCX for the Strava case, when appropriate; do not delete the Google Health history to force a resync.

Records look duplicated
Pause additional connections and identify which service supplied each duplicate. Health Connect or Apple Health may expose overlapping sources when a watch, phone and Google Health all write the same category. Remove or restrict one source in the platform permissions, then recheck the destination app. Preserve the export before deleting any source data.
Privacy and control after the move
Google states that Google Health and Fitbit health and wellness data are not used for Google Ads. Google also says you can review, export or delete Google Health data through Google Account controls and in-app controls. Those are Google’s stated policies and controls; use them to inspect what is stored, create a fresh export or remove data you no longer want retained.
For sensitive records, review permissions whenever you connect a new app. Share only the categories that service needs, and keep the downloaded archive in protected storage. A third-party connection can have its own retention and privacy terms, so check the receiving app before granting access.
