In [OG] All Star Tower Defense, you obtain characters through the Summon Gate, deploy those units to stop enemy waves, and upgrade troops during a battle to unlock additional attacks. The safe way to play is to treat the live Gate and each unit’s information panel as the authority for costs, banner contents, guarantees, leveling choices, and evolution requirements. The official Roblox listing confirms the core loop, but it does not publish permanent summon rates, pity thresholds, inventory commands, or evolution recipes.
This guide applies to the original experience published by Top Down Games, not All Star Tower Defense X (ASTDX).
What the official game description confirms
| Game element | Confirmed behavior | What you should do |
|---|---|---|
| Summon Gate | The Gate is where players summon and unlock new units for battles. | Open the Gate and read the currently displayed banner before spending currency. |
| Battle units | Units fend off waves of enemies. | Choose a team that fits the mode and place units where their attacks can cover the wave path. |
| In-battle upgrades | Troops can be upgraded during battle to unlock new attacks. | Inspect the upgrade options shown during the match and spend resources only when the new attack helps the current wave. |
| Gate rotation | New things appear in the Summon Gate and Emote Shop every hour. | Use the in-game timer and current display rather than an old banner list. |
These points come from the official Roblox listing for [OG] All Star Tower Defense. The listing showed an update date of October 8, 2026, so screenshots, wikis, and videos made for an earlier version may no longer match the interface.
Before you spend a summon
Take a few seconds to establish what the current screen actually offers. Summoning is a resource decision, and the available evidence does not establish a permanent price, rate, or guarantee that applies to every banner.
- Confirm the experience. Check that the Roblox page and in-game title identify the original [OG] All Star Tower Defense experience. Search results often mix it with ASTDX.
- Open the Summon Gate from the lobby. Do not rely on a remembered menu location from an older video; use the current lobby labels.
- Read the banner name and featured units. Record which characters are shown and whether the screen describes a normal, special, or other category.
- Check your currency balance and the displayed cost. Treat the number on the current Gate screen as the applicable cost for that option.
- Look for a rotation timer. The official listing says Gate content changes hourly, so a banner can be replaced before you return.
- Read every visible term. If the interface shows a multi-summon quantity, guarantee, pity counter, or other condition, use that wording. If it does not show one, do not assume an older guide’s threshold still applies.
How to summon characters at the Gate
- Enter the original All Star Tower Defense experience and reach the lobby. Locate the object or menu labeled Summon Gate.
- Open the Gate screen. Review the currently available options, featured artwork, currency icon, price, and any timer or guarantee text.
- Compare the options using only displayed information. Note the cost, the units highlighted, and whether the banner appears aimed at a particular role. A community page may use different names or rates than the live game.
- Decide how much currency you can commit. Keep enough resources for the rest of your planned progression instead of spending everything automatically when a banner changes.
- Select the summon option and read the confirmation dialog. Verify the quantity and final cost before confirming. Cancel if the dialog differs from what you intended.
- Review the result immediately. Identify the unit, its displayed rarity or stars, and any role or ability information. If the game provides a new-unit animation or result panel, let it finish or use the on-screen close control so the unit is recorded in your inventory.
- Return to the roster before summoning again. Check whether the result fills a missing role, duplicates an existing unit, or should be reserved for a later leveling or evolution decision.
How to read a changing banner
The official description says that new things appear in the Summon Gate every hour. That statement confirms the cadence, not a fixed schedule of names, prices, or rates. When the timer is near zero, finish reviewing the current terms before confirming a pull; the available option may change as the rotation updates.
For each live option, write down four facts if you are comparing banners:
- the currency and amount required for one displayed summon;
- the featured unit or group of units;
- the remaining availability time;
- any guarantee, pity, or increased-chance wording actually shown by the game.
A community-maintained Hero Summon page describes categories and historical rates, but those details are not certified as current by the official listing. Use it as background only, and defer to the live Gate for a purchase decision.

How to budget currency without a fixed rate guide
You can make a disciplined plan even when banner numbers change. Start with your current balance, subtract the amount you need for any activity you already intend to play, and treat the remainder as your summon budget. If the Gate offers single and multi-summon choices, compare the displayed total and the result quantity rather than assuming the larger option is automatically cheaper or better. Record what you spent so a later banner does not make you forget how much currency remains.
Set a stopping rule before you pull. For example, stop when you obtain a unit that fills the role you needed, when the displayed cost would leave too little for planned progression, or when the banner timer expires. A stopping rule is especially useful when the interface does not show a guarantee. Never infer that repeated unsuccessful pulls must produce a particular unit unless the current screen explicitly states that protection.
Using units in battles
Summoning adds units to the collection; battles determine whether those units can handle the current wave pattern. The official description says units are used to fend off waves and can be upgraded during battle to unlock new attacks.
Deploy with a purpose
- Place a unit where its attack can reach the path or target type you need to control.
- Watch the first waves before committing all available placement space. Early information about enemy movement can show whether a unit needs a different position.
- Keep track of which units are providing damage, coverage, or another displayed effect. This makes it easier to decide which troop deserves the next upgrade.
- Leave room for later placements when the map has a valuable bend, lane, or shared coverage area. The correct position depends on the map and the attack information shown by the unit.
- After a new summon, test the unit in a manageable battle before building an entire team around assumptions from its star display.
Upgrade during the match
- Select a deployed troop to open the upgrade information shown by the current interface.
- Read the cost and the attack change before purchasing. The official listing confirms that upgrades unlock new attacks, but it does not define one universal upgrade order.
- Prioritize an upgrade when its new attack helps the next wave, expands useful coverage, or fixes a weakness you can already see.
- Compare the upgrade cost with the immediate threat. Saving for a new attack can be more useful than spreading small upgrades across every unit, but the displayed wave and attack details should decide.
- After upgrading, verify the troop’s attack behavior rather than assuming the change affected every unit of that type.
Upgrade names, prices, and controls can vary with game updates. Follow the labels in the match instead of importing a control sequence from a different version.

The official listing confirms that summoned units are used in battles, but it does not publish a permanent button name or menu path for equipping them. Use the current roster and loadout labels as your guide.
- Open the collection, inventory, team, or loadout screen shown in the lobby.
- Choose the slot you want to change and inspect the units the interface makes available.
- Read the selected unit’s name and displayed information before confirming the slot change. This prevents replacing a useful unit with a similarly named duplicate by mistake.
- Review the full lineup after making changes. Check that each slot contains the intended unit and that no duplicate displaced a role you still need.
- If the game offers more than one team or preset, name or note the purpose of each lineup, such as a general wave team or a team being tested. Do not assume every mode permits the same number of units or uses the same preset.
If you cannot find an equip control, return to the lobby and inspect the current labels rather than following a video made for another layout. The exact control path is not established as a permanent mechanic.
Organizing your unit roster
A manageable roster starts with knowing what you own and postponing irreversible decisions until the unit’s current information panel explains them.
Make a simple inventory pass
- Open the unit collection or inventory screen. Use the live menu label; the official listing does not publish a permanent path or button name.
- Inspect each unit’s information. Record its name, displayed star or rarity rating, level, and any role or ability text the game provides.
- Separate active candidates from reserves. Active candidates are units you can explain a battle use for now. Reserves include duplicates, units awaiting materials, and units whose role you have not tested.
- Keep at least one copy of an unfamiliar unit. A star rating alone does not establish that a duplicate is safe to consume, sell, or use as material.
- Recheck after every summon and major upgrade. New units can change which combinations cover your current modes.
Use a duplicate checklist
When a summon produces a duplicate, do not immediately feed, sell, lock, or otherwise consume it. First compare the two copies’ names, stars, levels, and displayed requirements. Check whether the unit panel mentions an evolution, upgrade, or other use for duplicates. If the panel does not answer the question, keep the copy in reserve. This costs storage space but avoids an irreversible decision based only on appearance.
Where the interface provides a lock, favorite, or similar protection control, use it for units you are testing or saving. Because the official listing does not document the control, verify that the visual state actually changes and still appears after you leave and reopen the roster. A lock is a safeguard, not proof that a unit can never be consumed by every action.
Do not infer value from stars alone
Star ratings are one displayed attribute, not a complete management plan. They do not, by themselves, tell you whether a unit is the best choice for your mode, whether a duplicate is needed for an evolution, or whether a lower-star unit fills a role your roster lacks. Compare the unit’s shown attacks and requirements with the needs of your team.

Feeding units for leveling
A community Leveling page describes feeding units to raise another unit’s level and notes that fed units are removed from the inventory. Because this consumes the selected units, treat it as a permanent roster change unless the current game explicitly offers a recovery method.
- Open the target unit’s leveling or enhancement screen from the current roster interface.
- Confirm the target name before selecting materials.
- Review every unit marked as feed material. Remove any unit you have not verified as expendable.
- Check the resulting level or experience preview and the final confirmation text.
- Confirm only after you understand which units will disappear. Then reopen the roster and verify the target’s updated level.
Never label a particular character as “safe to feed” from a tier list alone. A unit that looks weak may be required for a current evolution, a collection objective, or a mode you have not tried.

Evolution and star upgrades are related but should not be treated as the same action. A nonofficial Units guide distinguishes star upgrades from evolution and describes evolution as a lobby process using materials. Its recipes and examples are not independently confirmed by the official Roblox listing.
Use this verification sequence before committing anything:
- Open the individual unit’s information or upgrade panel.
- Identify whether the available action is labeled as a star upgrade, evolution, level increase, or another operation.
- Read the complete requirement list shown in the current game, including units, items, currency, and level conditions.
- Check whether the action consumes the selected unit, duplicate units, or materials immediately.
- Confirm only when the result and cost match your plan.
If the game does not show a requirement, do not fill the gap with a wiki recipe. Wait until the unit panel or another authoritative in-game message provides the needed information.
Choosing between two live summon options
The available sources do not establish two permanent banners that can be compared as a current best choice. When the Gate displays alternatives, use a short decision framework instead of a generic tier list.

| Question | How it affects your decision |
|---|---|
| Which currency and cost are displayed? | Calculate the real commitment from your current balance, not from an old guide. |
| Which unit is featured? | Check whether the unit fills a missing role or duplicates one you already use. |
| How long is the option available? | A short timer may justify waiting for more information, while a banner about to rotate requires a prompt decision. |
| Is a guarantee or pity statement visible? | Use the wording shown in the current interface; do not assume a hidden or historical threshold. |
| What will happen if the result is a duplicate? | Review the unit’s current leveling and evolution requirements before spending. |
If neither option clearly improves your lineup, saving is a valid choice. The hourly rotation means another Gate display can appear, but the listing does not promise what the next one will contain or whether it will be cheaper.
A returner’s first ten minutes
- Confirm that the Roblox experience is the original [OG] listing by Top Down Games.
- Open the Gate and note the current banner, currency, cost, and timer.
- Open the roster and identify your existing active team, reserves, duplicates, and units with visible requirements.
- Inspect one or two likely additions in a low-risk battle so you can see their displayed attacks.
- Upgrade only the troop whose next attack addresses the wave in front of you.
- Before leaving, recheck any newly summoned unit and decide whether it belongs in a team, reserve, or material review list.
This routine separates three decisions that are easy to confuse: acquiring a unit, equipping it, and spending it as material. Keeping them separate makes mistakes easier to spot.

The price or currency looks different from a guide
Use the live Gate display. The official listing does not publish a permanent price, and community pages may describe an earlier version. Do not confirm the summon until the current cost is clear.
Recommended Free Tools
A banner changed before you pulled
Reopen the Gate and read the new featured units, cost, and timer. The listing’s hourly-appearance statement makes this kind of change expected rather than an error.
You selected the wrong unit for feeding
Stop at the confirmation dialog if it is still open. If the action already completed, check the roster and any available in-game history or recovery control; do not assume the removed unit can be restored.
An evolution recipe from a video does not match
Ignore the external recipe and inspect the unit’s current information panel. Version changes can alter names, materials, or eligibility.
Your new unit is not visible
Close and reopen the roster or use the interface’s refresh or return control if one is shown. Check the summon result, inventory filters, and sorting mode. Do not summon again simply because a filtered list is hiding the unit; first verify the result and current collection view.
You upgraded the wrong troop
Pause further spending and inspect the affected troop’s current attack information. If there is no undo control, treat the purchase as final and adjust later placements or upgrades around the new state. The listing confirms that upgrades unlock attacks, but it does not promise refunds or a universal reset function.

Keeping your information current
Use the official Roblox game listing to confirm that you are following the original experience and to see its latest description. Then verify every volatile detail inside the game: banner contents, timer, costs, displayed rates, guarantees, inventory actions, and evolution requirements.
The practical loop is straightforward: inspect the current Gate, summon only after reading its terms, test the resulting unit in battle, upgrade troops when their displayed attack helps the wave, and preserve unverified duplicates until the unit panel shows what they are needed for.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you summon characters in [OG] All Star Tower Defense?
Use the Summon Gate in the lobby. The official Roblox listing identifies the Gate as the place to summon and unlock new units for battles.
How often does the Summon Gate change?
The official listing says new things appear in the Summon Gate and Emote Shop every hour. Check the live timer and banner because it does not publish a permanent schedule of names, prices, or rates.
Are summon rates and pity rules fixed?
Do not assume they are. Read the current Gate screen for any displayed rates, guarantees, or pity wording; older community pages may describe a different version.

Select a deployed troop and use the upgrade information shown by the current match interface. The official description confirms that in-battle upgrades unlock new attacks, but it does not establish one universal order or price.
Should I feed duplicate units for leveling?
Only after checking the target, every selected material, and the confirmation text. A community leveling reference says fed units are removed from inventory, so keep any duplicate whose future role or evolution requirement is unknown.
How do I evolve a unit?
Open that unit’s current information or upgrade panel and read the displayed requirements. Confirm whether the action needs levels, units, items, or currency, and do not substitute an old recipe when the game shows different requirements.
Why can’t I find the equip button?
Return to the lobby and inspect the current collection, team, or loadout labels. The official listing does not document a permanent button path, and layouts can change between versions.

What should I do if the banner or price differs from a video?
Use the live Gate display, not the video. Confirm the experience is the original [OG] game, then read the current featured units, currency, cost, timer, and terms before deciding.
The Bottom Line
Summon at the live Gate, read its current terms, and treat every result as a roster decision rather than an automatic upgrade. Equip units only after checking the current loadout screen, test them against waves, and spend battle resources on upgrades that unlock useful attacks. Keep unfamiliar duplicates until the unit panel confirms their leveling or evolution use, because rates, prices, menus, and recipes can change with the hourly rotation and game updates.
