You can keep an Indian music YouTube channel live around the clock from Google Cloud by running an encoder on a cloud compute instance and sending its output to YouTube with the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Google Cloud’s Live Stream API is a different service: its documented workflow ingests a feed, transcodes it, and stores HLS or DASH output in Cloud Storage; it is not documented as a direct YouTube publisher. For either setup, settle the music rights and Content ID arrangements before broadcasting. Choose the right way to keep the channel live

The exact VM size, encoder settings, redundancy design, and cost depend on your chosen resolution, frame rate, codec, feed format, and region; those values cannot be selected responsibly without that workload.
Prepare the channel, music, and cloud environment
Confirm music rights before you configure a 24/7 feed
“Indian music” is not a rights category. For every recording or catalog you plan to play, confirm that the permissions cover the intended livestream use and territories, the sound recording and composition, applicable performance or publishing rights, and any archive or monetization use you intend. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide use on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. This is practical guidance, not legal advice; a license for one use or territory may not cover another.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream; unresolved material can interrupt or terminate it. Even if you have a license, YouTube says the stream can still be interrupted unless the relevant rightsholder adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask each applicable rights owner about allowlisting before launch and confirm the channel and catalog are handled as agreed.
Allow time to activate live streaming
If this is the channel’s first live stream, enable live streaming in YouTube Studio and allow up to 24 hours for activation, according to YouTube Help’s encoder setup instructions. Do this before scheduling a launch. You can use a software or hardware encoder; YouTube does not require a particular encoder model.

Choose the Google Cloud location and estimate the workload
For a direct encoder, choose a Google Cloud compute environment in a region that suits availability, latency, compliance, and pricing. Do not assume the nearest region is automatically the best choice. Google’s Live Stream API quickstart lists Mumbai (asia-south1) among its supported regions; verify current availability for the service and project before designing around a region. Estimate compute and network charges for the direct-encoder route. The Live Stream API route has separate API, storage, and possible delivery costs. No fixed total is meaningful without a defined workload and current pricing calculation.

This is the straightforward architecture for a cloud-hosted encoder: YouTube supplies an ingest destination and key; your encoder runs in the cloud and publishes to that destination. The following is an operational sequence, not a tested deployment recipe. Exact console labels, machine sizing, encoder configuration, and process supervision depend on the cloud compute and encoder you select.

- Enable YouTube live streaming. In YouTube Studio, enable live streaming for the channel. If it is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours before expecting to go live.
- Create or select a stream in Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create a stream or select the one you intend to use. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Protect the stream key. Treat the key like a password. Store it only where the encoder needs it, restrict access to the cloud environment and configuration, and do not put it in public logs, screenshots, or shared documents. If it is exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Start a cloud compute environment and encoder. Run your chosen software encoder on the selected Google Cloud compute environment. Configure its output destination with YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Select an encoder profile and feed format that YouTube accepts for the channel; the right resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and keyframe interval depend on the source and intended output. The available guidance here does not establish one safe numeric profile for every stream, so use the current YouTube and encoder requirements for the exact profile rather than guessing.
- Start the contribution and verify it in YouTube. Start the encoder, then check the Live Control Room preview and live status. Do not treat a running encoder process as proof that viewers can see a healthy stream: confirm that YouTube receives the feed and that the preview is as expected.
- Plan recovery and monitoring. Monitor the encoder process, compute instance, network path, and YouTube destination. Decide how the process will be restarted after an encoder failure or machine interruption and how an operator will notice a failed contribution. This recovery design is operational guidance; Google Cloud and YouTube’s cited setup instructions do not prescribe a single 24/7 deployment recipe.
What “24/7” means for the archive
A continuous broadcast and a complete YouTube VOD are separate outcomes. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise one complete recording for an uninterrupted 24/7 stream. If preserving the program matters, arrange separate recordings and/or shorter planned sessions, and verify YouTube’s current archive behavior before launch.
Where the Google Cloud Live Stream API fits
The Live Stream API is a managed ingest-and-transcode service, not the same workflow as entering a YouTube stream key in an encoder. It receives an SRT or RTMP signal at an input endpoint, transcodes it into HLS or DASH renditions, and stores generated output in Cloud Storage. Google documents automatic infrastructure provisioning, a backup input option, and integrations with Cloud Storage and other Google Cloud services. The documented output and destination model does not establish that the API publishes directly to YouTube.

- Design for the API’s output. Use the API when your requirement is managed transcoding and HLS or DASH output in Cloud Storage, or a separate delivery workflow built around those outputs. If your requirement is direct YouTube ingestion, use the encoder-to-YouTube path unless you have a separately documented connector or delivery design.
- Configure and start the channel before sending input. The API channel must be started before it accepts input. Follow the current Google Cloud quickstart and service configuration for the selected input, output, and region.
- Prefer SRT when your encoder supports it. Google recommends SRT over RTMP for the Live Stream API when the encoder supports it, citing packet-loss recovery, forward error correction, support for multiple audio elementary streams, and higher bandwidth.
- Build around the session limit. Google documents a 24-hour active streaming session duration for the Live Stream API, after which the channel may need to be restarted. A 24/7 deployment therefore needs monitoring and a safe restart or continuity plan. Google also lists a limit of 10 running channels per region, along with caps on output stream resources; check the current quotas for your project and region before planning capacity.

Troubleshoot interruptions and missing recordings
- YouTube does not accept the first stream: Live streaming may not yet be activated for the channel. Enable it in YouTube Studio and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- The encoder runs but YouTube shows no healthy preview: Check that the encoder is sending to the server URL for the selected stream and that the matching stream key is correct. Confirm the feed appears in Live Control Room before treating the channel as live.
- The stream is interrupted after a music match: A Content ID match can replace the stream with a placeholder or interrupt it. Confirm the relevant use is licensed and ask the rightsholder whether the channel needs Content ID allowlisting; do not assume possession of a license prevents an interruption.
- The API stops accepting input after a long session: Check whether the channel has reached the documented 24-hour active-session duration. Monitor the channel and implement a controlled restart or continuity plan.
- The project cannot start another API channel: Check the project’s regional quota, including the documented limit of 10 running channels per region and output-stream resource caps. Verify current quota availability for the intended region.
- A long-running YouTube broadcast has no complete VOD: Streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Use separate recording or shorter planned sessions if an archive is required, and verify current platform behavior rather than relying on a single uninterrupted 24/7 VOD.
Monetization is conditional
YouTube Help says creators in the YouTube Partner Program can monetize live streams; its live settings documentation names ads and Super Chat, while channel memberships are available to some channels. Eligibility and feature availability depend on the channel. Music rights and Content ID policies can constrain monetization, so operating a continuous stream alone does not establish eligibility or guarantee revenue.
