To stop a Galaxy S22 from automatically falling back to mobile data when Wi-Fi is unstable, turn off Switch to mobile data in Intelligent Wi-Fi. On older software, look for Smart Network Switch or the same control under Wi-Fi’s Advanced settings.
Turn off “Switch to mobile data” on current software
-
Open Settings and tap Connections.
-
Tap Wi-Fi.
-
Tap More options (the three-dot menu), then tap Intelligent Wi-Fi.
-
Turn off Switch to mobile data.
Samsung describes this setting as switching to mobile data when Wi-Fi is unstable and returning to Wi-Fi when its signal is strong. A SIM is required for the feature. Samsung’s connection-options guide notes that available options can vary by device model and carrier.

Find the setting on older software
Depending on the software version, the feature may appear as Smart Network Switch or Switch to mobile data. Samsung’s legacy route is Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi, then Advanced—sometimes reached through the three-dot menu. Tap the switch beside the feature to turn it off.

- The S22 uses a flat (non‑curved) 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh that dynamically adjusts between 48 – 120 Hz depending on content — which means smoother scrolling and better battery efficiency when high refresh isn’t needed.
- Its main rear camera features a 50 MP sensor with what Samsung calls “Tetra‑binning,” delivering stronger detail in bright light and surprisingly good low‑light photos compared to many older flagships.
- The build quality is designed to feel premium and durable: it uses an Armor Aluminum frame combined with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on front and back, which gives better scratch and drop resistance — nice if you want a relatively compact but rugged flagship.
- For video content and editing, the S22 supports 8K recording — rare for a “smaller” flagship. That means you can shoot very high-resolution video, useful if you care about future‑proofing footage or cropping/editing later.
- The phone strikes a balance of compactness and performance — in a world of increasingly large phones, the S22 remains fairly pocket‑friendly while still packing the 4 nm flagship‑class chipset (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 depending on region) for smooth daily performance.
Samsung Germany’s support guide describes the historical name as “Intelligent Network Switch” and explains that later software has shifted related behavior toward settings for individual apps’ data use. Its example uses a Galaxy S22 Ultra running Android 15 and One UI 7.0; the guide cautions that screens and steps can vary by model, software version, and region. Do not turn off Wi-Fi or mobile data globally as a workaround. Those actions disable connectivity rather than just the automatic switch between networks.
