Apple lets you request a blur for your own house in Look Around imagery. In Apple Maps, find your address, open Look Around, choose Report an Issue, select the privacy or imagery option for obscuring a home, describe the exact residence, and submit it. If that reporting route is unavailable, email MapsImageCollection@apple.com with your name, full address, and a screenshot or precise description of the image.
What the Apple Maps house-blur request actually changes
The request applies to Apple’s published Look Around imagery—the street-level views you can pan through in supported locations. Apple separately says it automatically blurs faces and license plates before publication, and its Image Collection information specifically allows a person to request that their own house be blurred.
A successful request does not establish that the property will disappear from aerial or satellite imagery. It also does not remove photographs from real-estate listings, images hosted by other map services, or views that anyone can obtain by standing on a public street. The remedy targets the Apple Look Around view that identifies your residence.
Blur your house from the Apple Maps app
- Search for the property. Open Apple Maps and enter the complete street address. Confirm that the map pin is on the correct residence.
- Open Look Around. Tap the Look Around preview or binoculars-style control when it appears. Look Around is not available for every address or region.
- Start a report. From the imagery or map reporting controls, choose Report an Issue. Apple also documents reporting from the map pin card and from your profile or initials → Reports → Report a New Issue on iPhone.
- Choose the privacy or imagery concern. Select the option that lets you request obscuring a home. The exact wording and menu location can vary by device, software version, and region; Apple documents the reporting entry points rather than one permanent label for every interface.
- Identify the correct house. State that you are requesting a blur for your own house. Include the full address and explain which building, frontage, or view should be obscured. Review the preview or map position before sending.
- Submit the report. Keep a screenshot of the submitted view and any confirmation for your records.
Use email when the in-app report is missing
If Look Around has no visible reporting control, or the app cannot submit the issue, contact Apple’s Maps Image Collection team at MapsImageCollection@apple.com. Put the request in plain language, for example: “I am requesting that my own house be blurred in Apple Maps Look Around.” Include:

- The property’s complete postal address, including city, region, and country.
- A screenshot of the Look Around image, if possible.
- Details that distinguish the correct building, such as the viewing direction, side of the street, or a nearby landmark.
- A short explanation of why the image is the one you want obscured.
Apple says it may request additional information and communicate by email to resolve a report. Do not send unrelated identity documents or sensitive information unless Apple specifically asks for it through an official channel.

Privacy information attached to a report
Apple says a report about a home or a request to blur Look Around imagery is associated with the reporter’s Apple Account or email address. The contextual information can include the map image shown before filing, zoom level, most recent search term, location, device and operating-system details, and the Look Around viewing direction and angle. Apple may also retain information that you choose to submit.

Apple says information associated with an account or email may be stored for up to two years to understand reporting trends. It describes a separate retention period of up to five years for certain copyright-related reports; that longer period is not stated as the standard period for a house-blur request.

Before submitting, frame the report so it contains only the details needed to identify the property. A screenshot that shows the relevant building and address is generally more useful than a wide image containing neighbors, people, or unrelated private information.

What Apple does not promise
- No published response deadline: Apple does not provide a service-level turnaround time for a house-blur request in the cited materials.
- No guaranteed permanence period: Apple documents the request mechanism but does not promise how long an accepted blur will remain or how often imagery may be republished.
- No universal coverage: Look Around availability and reporting labels differ by location, device, and software version.
- No control over other images: The request does not establish removal from aerial views, third-party map services, real-estate pages, social media, or ordinary public views.
If the image remains visible after you report it, verify that you reported the correct address and camera view, then send a follow-up email with the original screenshot and any confirmation details. Avoid filing repeated, contradictory reports that identify different properties.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Reporting the wrong property: Check the pin, street number, and viewing direction before submitting.
- Assuming a normal map pin hides the house: A standard map marker or satellite layer is not the same as a Look Around blur request.
- Requesting removal of someone else’s home: Apple’s published wording is for “your own house.” If you are an authorized representative, explain that relationship rather than claiming ownership you cannot establish.
- Expecting curtains, privacy film, cameras, or alarms to alter Apple-hosted imagery: Physical or security products cannot change an image already stored and published by Apple.
When to use this process
Use Apple’s reporting route when a street-level Look Around image gives an unusually clear view of your residence and you want Apple to obscure it. Start with the in-app report because it carries the exact image context; use email when the controls are unavailable or when you need to provide a screenshot and a detailed description. The documented option is a request, not an instant switch, so retain your submission details and treat the scope as limited to Apple Look Around.
