If the picture on your Sharp AQUOS TV is cut off at the edges, open the screen-size or view-mode setting for the active input and look for Dot by Dot or underscan. Sharp describes these modes as displaying the image according to the input signal. The available choices vary by video type and TV model, so check the manual for your exact AQUOS before following model-specific button instructions.
Find the right screen mode for your AQUOS
Sharp’s guidance for the 2TC40/32AE1 lists screen modes including Normal, Cinema, Full, Wide, Dot by Dot, and underscan. It describes Dot by Dot and underscan as showing the image according to the input signal. When available, choose the mode that shows the entire input image without enlarging or cropping it. Check a screen with visible edges, such as a computer desktop with its taskbar, or a video whose borders are easy to see. This is a practical way to confirm whether the setting corrected the crop.

- Identify the TV model. Check the label on the television or its existing documentation, then enter that model in Sharp’s AQUOS manual finder. The menu names and instructions can differ by model and region.
- Open the picture-size or view-mode control. Use the TV’s controls or remote while the affected input is active. The exact menu path and button sequence depend on the model; the cited Sharp guidance does not establish one universal sequence.
- Look for Dot by Dot, underscan, or a similarly named mode. Select the option that displays the input without cropping, if the TV offers one for that signal.
- Check all four edges. Use a screen with visible borders or desktop elements to verify that the image is no longer cut off and has not been stretched.
If Dot by Dot or underscan is unavailable
Sharp says the selectable screen sizes depend on the type of video. If a mode is missing or cannot be selected, check the manual for your exact TV and confirm which input and video format are active. A mode listed for one AQUOS model or signal type may not be available for another.

If you no longer have the original remote, check the manual and model compatibility before buying a replacement. Sharp’s AQUOS support portal includes remote-control purchasing information, but it does not establish that any particular replacement remote works with every TV.
How to choose among the available modes
Compare the options by whether the whole picture is visible, the image keeps its proportions, and the TV stretches or crops the signal. Sharp’s model-specific page names Normal, Cinema, Full, Wide, Dot by Dot, and underscan, but it does not establish the behavior of every listed mode across all AQUOS TVs and inputs. Consult your model’s manual rather than assuming that a label works the same way on every set.
