To stop your iPhone calls from ringing on an iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or another linked Apple device, use the iPhone that receives the calls: Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices. Turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices to disable call relay everywhere, or leave it on and switch off only the devices you want to silence. If a device still rings through Wi‑Fi Calling, remove it separately under Settings > Cellular > [your line] > Calls on Other Devices.
The quickest way to stop every other device ringing
The master control is on your iPhone, not on the iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch that is ringing. Apple documents the current iPhone path in its iOS 26 guide: Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices.
- Unlock the iPhone that normally receives your cellular calls.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap Phone.
- Tap Calls on Other Devices.
- To silence every configured Apple device, turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices.
With the master switch off, your iPhone continues to receive calls normally, but the call-relay feature no longer sends those calls to the other devices selected in this section. This is the broadest, fastest fix when you want the iPhone to be the only device that announces incoming phone calls.

After changing the switch, place a test call to the iPhone. Check each nearby iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch rather than assuming that one silent device means every device has been removed. If a device still rings, it may be using the separate Wi‑Fi Calling control described below.

Silence only one iPad, Mac, or other device
If you still want calls to ring on some devices, keep Allow Calls on Other Devices turned on. Under it, find the device you want to silence and switch that device off. Other devices whose switches remain on continue to receive the relayed calls.
| Choice | Setting | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Stop relay everywhere | Turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices | All configured devices stop receiving calls relayed from the iPhone. |
| Keep relay on selectively | Leave the master switch on; turn off individual devices | Only the selected devices stop ringing. Devices still enabled remain available. |
This is usually the best first solution because it controls the feature from the source iPhone and lets you preserve the arrangement you actually want—for example, calls on a Mac but not an iPad. It also avoids changing FaceTime sign-in or other Apple Account settings that may be needed for unrelated services.
Why calls can ring on an iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch
Apple’s call-relay feature lets an iPhone provide its phone calls to nearby Apple devices. Apple’s setup guidance says the devices should use the same Apple Account and Wi‑Fi network and be near the iPhone. FaceTime must also be signed in with that same Apple Account, with your iPhone number enabled in FaceTime settings. These conditions explain how relay works; you do not need to change them merely to turn relay off.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe relay is intended for calls to your iPhone number. It is separate from an ordinary FaceTime audio call. The setting in Phone > Calls on Other Devices concerns calls made to your iPhone number and delivered through Apple’s relay system. If you want to keep FaceTime available while stopping iPhone-number calls, change the call-relay controls rather than signing out of FaceTime or disabling your Apple Account.
The same prerequisites are useful when diagnosing an unexpected device. A device that is on another Apple Account, another Wi‑Fi network, or out of range of the iPhone may not be eligible for ordinary relay. FaceTime also has to be signed in with the phone number enabled. Those conditions do not mean you should alter your account or network simply to silence a device; they explain why a device appears, disappears, or behaves differently from another device.
Apple’s general setup instructions for supported devices are available at Make and receive phone calls on Mac, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. The guide covers the relationship between the iPhone and receiving devices, while the switch on the iPhone is the practical control for turning the feature off.
When Wi‑Fi Calling makes a device keep ringing
A device can also appear in the iPhone’s Wi‑Fi Calling device list. That list has its own removal control. If you turned off the regular relay switch but a device still presents incoming calls, check the Wi‑Fi Calling list as well.
- On the iPhone, open Settings.
- Tap Cellular.
- If the iPhone has more than one SIM or cellular line, tap the line associated with the calls you want to change.
- Tap Calls on Other Devices.
- Turn off the device that should no longer use your line through Wi‑Fi Calling.
Apple describes this as removing the device from Wi‑Fi Calling. It is a device-level control, so you can remove one listed device without changing the status of the other devices shown for that line. If you have only one line, you may go directly from Cellular to Calls on Other Devices; with multiple lines, selecting the correct line first is essential.
The exact menu presentation can vary with the iOS version, cellular plan, and whether the iPhone has multiple lines. Apple’s Wi‑Fi Calling instructions are at Make a call with Wi‑Fi Calling. If you cannot find the list, use Settings search for Calls on Other Devices or Wi‑Fi Calling, then verify that you are editing the line that actually received the test call.

Apple Watch and Wi‑Fi Calling
Apple says Wi‑Fi Calling is automatically enabled for Apple Watch when Allow Calls on Other Devices is enabled. Therefore, an Apple Watch that keeps ringing deserves two checks: the master or per-device relay switch under Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices, and the relevant device entry under Settings > Cellular > [line] > Calls on Other Devices.
Check both locations even if the Watch is the only device you want to silence. Turning off a Watch entry in one list does not mean the other list has been inspected. The two controls address related delivery paths, and the Wi‑Fi Calling list is particularly important when the Watch continues to announce calls after ordinary relay has been disabled.

Wi‑Fi Calling itself depends on carrier support. Its availability, and the options shown in Settings, can differ by country, region, carrier, cellular plan, and iOS configuration. FaceTime is also not available in every country or region, according to Apple’s guidance. If a menu is absent, that can reflect the carrier or regional configuration rather than a fault with the iPhone.
Turn off relay from the device that is ringing
Apple’s security documentation gives a second, receiving-device control: turn off iPhone Mobile Calls in FaceTime settings on that device. Apple states, “Users can turn off phone call relay on a device by turning off iPhone Mobile Calls in FaceTime settings.” See iPhone mobile call relay security.
Use this approach when you have access to the iPad or Mac but not the iPhone, or when you want that particular device to reject relay independently. Open the device’s FaceTime settings and switch off iPhone Mobile Calls. Apple’s menu labels and placement can vary by operating system, so look specifically for that option inside FaceTime settings rather than general notification settings.
This receiving-device setting is useful for a shared workspace or a laptop that should not announce personal calls, while other Apple devices remain enabled. It changes the receiving device’s participation; it does not remove the iPhone’s phone number, sign you out of FaceTime, or alter the settings of other devices. For a complete account-wide change, use the iPhone’s master or per-device controls first.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf you later want that device to ring again, return to the same FaceTime setting and re-enable iPhone Mobile Calls, then confirm the device is still selected under the iPhone’s relay list if necessary. Keeping the receiving-device override in mind prevents you from making wider account changes just to silence one Mac or iPad.
Which setting should you use?
| Your goal | Use this control | What remains unchanged |
|---|---|---|
| No Apple device except the iPhone should ring | iPhone: Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices; turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices | Incoming calls still arrive on the iPhone. |
| Silence just one iPad or Mac | Keep the master switch on and turn off that device in its list | Other enabled devices can still ring. |
| A device is still receiving calls through Wi‑Fi Calling | iPhone: Settings > Cellular > [line] > Calls on Other Devices; turn off that device | The selected cellular line remains active on the iPhone. |
| Change one receiving device without managing the iPhone | On that device, turn off iPhone Mobile Calls in FaceTime settings | Other devices and the iPhone keep their existing settings. |
Choose by scope. The master switch is an all-devices decision. Individual switches are selective. The Wi‑Fi Calling list is a second device-removal check tied to a cellular line, and iPhone Mobile Calls is a local override on the device that is ringing.
Troubleshooting when calls continue to appear
The master switch was turned off, but the Watch still rings
Return to the iPhone’s Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices page and confirm that Allow Calls on Other Devices is actually off. Then open the cellular path for the applicable line and check Settings > Cellular > [line] > Calls on Other Devices. Apple’s separate Wi‑Fi Calling list can keep a device eligible even when you were looking only at the general relay controls.

When testing, allow enough time for the setting to apply and use a call to the iPhone number, not a FaceTime audio call. The relay setting does not govern every kind of Apple communication, so a FaceTime call appearing on a device is not evidence that the Phone relay switch failed.
Only one of several phone lines is affected
On a multiple-SIM iPhone, Wi‑Fi Calling settings are associated with a particular cellular line. Open Settings > Cellular, choose the line that received the call, and then open Calls on Other Devices. Changing the list for another line will not necessarily change the behavior of the line you are testing.
Repeat the test after selecting the correct line. If the iPhone has personal and business lines, identify which number the caller used before changing any device entry. This avoids removing a device from the wrong line while leaving the original behavior unchanged.
The device does not appear in the list
Check the feature that is actually delivering the call. A device absent from the general relay list may not be configured for that service, may be using a different Apple Account, or may be involved through a Wi‑Fi Calling configuration instead. Apple’s relay setup expects the same Apple Account, the same Wi‑Fi network, proximity to the iPhone, and FaceTime signed in with the iPhone number enabled. If those conditions are not met, the device may not be eligible for ordinary relay even though another call path is present.
On the receiving device, inspect FaceTime settings for iPhone Mobile Calls. A local setting can prevent or allow that device independently of the iPhone’s other per-device choices. Check the iPhone and receiving-device settings before changing Apple Account sign-in or network arrangements.

Apple changes menu organization between iOS releases and adjusts the available options for different carriers and regions. On iOS 26, the main path is under Settings > Apps > Phone. For Wi‑Fi Calling, start at Settings > Cellular and select the relevant line when prompted. If your device uses a different layout, search Settings for Calls on Other Devices, Wi‑Fi Calling, or iPhone Mobile Calls rather than changing unrelated notification settings.
A missing Wi‑Fi Calling option can reflect carrier support or regional availability. FaceTime is likewise unavailable in some countries or regions. In those cases, only the controls exposed by your carrier and operating-system configuration will appear; do not assume that installing another app or accessory will add the feature.
You changed a setting but still hear a ringtone
Identify which device is making the sound and which service is involved. A Mac, iPad, and Watch can each have separate participation choices. Start with the iPhone’s master switch, then check the individual entry, then the cellular line’s Wi‑Fi Calling list. If only one device remains, use its FaceTime setting to turn off iPhone Mobile Calls. This ordered check is narrower and more reliable than signing out of every Apple service.
What these changes do—and what they do not require
These controls change call delivery; they do not require an app, accessory, replacement part, repair, or purchase. Turning off relay does not delete the Apple Account, remove the phone number from the iPhone, or prevent the iPhone itself from receiving calls. It simply removes one or more additional destinations.

Disabling a device in the iPhone list is also different from signing out of FaceTime. Signing out can affect FaceTime communication and the account relationship used by other Apple services, while the call-relay switch targets the specific ability to receive iPhone calls on other devices. Use the narrowest setting that matches your goal.
There is no physical product that fixes this behavior. The relevant controls are built into iOS, FaceTime, and the carrier’s Wi‑Fi Calling integration. Buying a case, headset, replacement part, or utility app will not substitute for changing the correct setting.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical sequence for selective control
If you are unsure which setting is responsible, work from the broadest control to the narrowest without changing account settings:
- On the iPhone, open Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices.
- If no other device should ring, turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices and test with a call.
- If some devices should remain active, turn the master switch back on and disable only the unwanted device entries.
- If the unwanted device still rings, open Settings > Cellular, select the line that received the call if necessary, and inspect its Calls on Other Devices Wi‑Fi Calling list.
- For a device-specific override, open FaceTime settings on that device and turn off iPhone Mobile Calls.
- Place another test call and note exactly which devices ring. Re-enable only the devices you want to use.
This sequence separates general iPhone call relay, Wi‑Fi Calling, and the receiving-device override. It avoids disabling FaceTime wholesale or altering network and Apple Account settings that may be needed for other services.
