To turn an LG TV off completely rather than leave it in standby, disable Quick Start+ (called Q Start+ on some older models), then press the remote’s Power button as usual. Quick Start+ keeps supported TVs in standby so they can start faster. The setting and its menu location vary by model and webOS version.
Turn off Quick Start+
With the TV on, open Settings and look for Quick Start+ or Q Start+. LG lists different paths for different software generations, so use the path that matches your TV:
- 2021 and later, webOS 6.0 and later: All Settings → General → Devices → TV Management → Quick Start+ → Disable.
- Some 2023 and later versions: All Settings → General → System → Additional Settings → Quick Start+.
- 2020, webOS 5.0: All Settings → General → Additional Settings → Quick Start+.
- Older models: Look under General or Additional Settings for Q Start+ or Quick Start+.
These are example paths, not a universal menu map. If your labels differ, consult the user guide for your exact model or the TV’s built-in guide. LG’s model-specific guidance is available at LG Support.

After disabling Quick Start+, press Power on the remote. LG says this allows the TV to turn off completely instead of remaining in standby. You do not need to unplug it for routine shutdown.

What changes when Quick Start+ is disabled?

When should you unplug the TV?
Unplugging is not the regular way to turn an LG TV off. LG documents a specific power cycle for a memory or app troubleshooting scenario: unplug the power cord, wait 10 minutes, then reconnect it. Use that procedure for troubleshooting rather than as a daily shutdown method. See LG’s support guidance for help with your model and issue.
If the setting is missing
Quick Start+ availability and menu placement depend on the model and software generation. Search the exact model’s user guide for “Quick Start+” or “Q Start+”; LG also recommends the model guide or built-in guide when menu sequences differ. Do not assume that a missing setting means the TV is broken.
