Pause the washer, untangle and spread the laundry evenly around the drum, then restart the cycle. If it still shakes, check that the machine is stable and level; if it is a newly installed front-loader, check that its shipping bolts were removed. Samsung’s codes and calibration steps vary by model, so use the manual for your washer’s full model number.
Start with the load
A washer can become unbalanced when a small load bunches on one side or bulky, absorbent laundry tangles into a wad. That does not by itself mean the machine is broken. Samsung recommends redistributing the items and restarting; a lower spin speed may help with bulky items that keep tangling. Follow your model’s manual and cycle guidance because suitable load size depends on the washer and the laundry. Samsung’s shaking troubleshooting guide covers these checks.
- Pause the cycle. Open the door or lid only when it is safe to do so.
- Separate tangled items and spread the laundry around the drum rather than leaving it piled on one side.
- For a small load that has bunched together, redistribute the items or add laundry as appropriate for the cycle and model. For bulky bedding, untangle it and spread it out; consider a lower spin speed if it continues to wad up.
- Close the door or lid and restart the cycle.
If an unbalance code appears, rearrange the laundry and restart. An Ur indication can mean the washer is adding water and retrying the balance automatically, which may extend the cycle. Samsung’s error-code guide explains that code meanings depend on the model.
If the washer was just installed, check the shipping bolts
On a newly installed front-loader, shipping bolts left in place can cause strong shaking. Samsung’s installation guidance states: “Before using your front load washing machine, you must remove the shipping bolts from the back.” Use the manual for your exact model to identify the bolts and spacers, remove them as directed, and fit the supplied hole covers. The number and positions vary. Keep the bolts and spacers for a future move. Samsung top-load washers do not use these shipping bolts. Samsung’s installation instructions provide the model-specific context.

This is a check for installation, not a reason to dismantle the washer. If the bolts have already been removed, continue with the stability checks.
Check the floor, clearance, and feet
The washer needs a firm, level surface and clearance from nearby objects. Samsung’s US shaking guide recommends one inch between the washer and a wall and between the washer and dryer. Carpet or another soft surface can contribute to vibration, and some vibration may remain when the washer is on a pedestal or riser. A machine that can slide may also develop balance problems.

- Move objects away so the washer is not touching a wall, dryer, or other item.
- Gently rock the cabinet. It should not wobble, and all four corners should remain in firm contact with the floor.
- Adjust the leveling feet until the washer is stable, keeping the feet as short as practical. The number of adjustable feet and the adjustment method vary by model; consult the manual. Samsung’s US guidance describes four adjustable legs and locking nuts on front-load models, while top-load arrangements vary.
- Run a small test load. If the cabinet still rocks or shakes, recheck the foot contact and make further adjustments.
A small level is optional: Samsung Philippines suggests placing one on the washer when checking alignment. A level does not replace the rocking test—each foot still needs firm contact with the floor. See Samsung Philippines’ leveling instructions.

Some Samsung washers have a calibration mode, but button combinations and availability differ. Empty the drum and follow the calibration procedure in the manual for your full model number; do not rely on a button sequence from another washer. If the tub does not spin during the calibration procedure described for your model, Samsung says service is required. Samsung’s shaking guide discusses calibration for supported models.

Read an unbalanced-load code in context
Samsung lists dc*, Ub, U6, Ur, UE, 1 Ub, and 1U6 among its unbalanced-load indications. The immediate response is to rearrange the laundry and restart. But codes are model-dependent: Samsung warns that dc means an unbalanced load on some models and a door error on others. Look up the code in the manual for your washer’s full model number rather than diagnosing from the display alone. Samsung’s code reference lists the distinctions.

Request service if the washer continues vibrating after you have corrected the load, confirmed a stable installation, checked shipping bolts where applicable, and used any model-supported calibration. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance directs users to service when vibration persists after those checks. Avoid attempting internal repairs to suspension, bearings, sensors, or control boards without model-specific repair instructions.
