Mortal Shell II calls its New Game Plus cycle New Purpose. According to current guides, you begin it by choosing Send Ova at the Gloom Siphon after defeating the final boss; the victory itself does not force the transition. The game’s warning that many Ova will not survive is qualitative story text, not a published percentage or odds formula.
When does New Game Plus begin?
Two current guides report that after the final boss, you can continue exploring and complete desired current-cycle tasks before committing. Choosing Send Ova at the Gloom Siphon is the reported transition point into New Purpose. Treat that choice as a commitment: finish any world cleanup you care about before selecting it. NerdsChalk and KeenGamer describe this sequence; it is guide-reported practical guidance rather than a complete first-party specification.
What does “Ova survival” mean?
The MS2 Database manual transcribes the New Purpose message as: “Although Mether has sent the Ova on their way, many will not survive. Recover more Ova, that we may bolster our odds of survival. The Foul Passenger has returned, growing ever stronger.” The passage frames the next cycle as a renewed effort to recover Ova because some sent onward will not survive. It does not name a speaker in the retrieved transcription.
“Ovum survival,” as used in some guide phrasing, should not be read as a confirmed numerical game mechanic. The text gives no survival percentage, named statistic, or odds formula; “many will not survive” is a qualitative statement. MS2 Database’s manual transcription is the source for the quoted wording.

- THEIR FLESH IS YOUR WEAPON: The corpses of exceptional warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell 2’s destroyed world. Once discovered, each warrior can be possessed, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the unique abilities of each warrior and unlock their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.
- CLEANSE A RAVAGED WORLD: Mortal Shell 2’s compact open world connects over winding footpaths guarded by desperate and fanatical adversaries. Players who wander are rewarded with new warriors to possess, additional story elements, powerful and strange weaponry, upgrades, curiosities and more. Step through derelict temples of ancient deities, across forbidden forests and icy graves, into citadels carved out of bone. Scattered between these lost landmarks are more than 60 dungeons, each providing a challenging test of the talents and weaponry you have collected on your journey.
- DETHRONE FALSE GODS: You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures. Mortal Shell 2’s combat system is agile and expressive. Stamina gauges are removed, and execution options have been enhanced, delivering a kinetic and chaotic dark power fantasy. Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.
What carries over, and what resets?
Current New Game Plus guides broadly report that character development and equipment progression carry into New Purpose, while Ova and substantial world-state progress reset. This is useful for planning, but not an official exhaustive persistence table: the first-party sources do not specify the fate of every named item, quest, map marker, or activity.
Use this as a broad rule rather than a guarantee about individual edge cases. If a particular collectible or activity matters to you, complete it before choosing Send Ova instead of assuming it will persist. The carry-over summary is reported by the guides at NerdsChalk and KeenGamer.

- Arcade-Favorite Games: 3 Mortal Kombat arcade titles ship on this cabinet, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II among them, so the ladder, the hidden fighters and the finishing moves live on the countertop
- Real-Feel Joystick and Buttons: Full-size arcade controls sit under your hand the way the original cabinets did, which is the point of buying an arcade machine instead of playing arcade games on a phone
- 7" Full-Color LCD: A 7 inch full-colour screen keeps the sprites sharp and the frame rate smooth, and the viewing angle suits a table top or a bar top where you stand over it rather than sit
- Portable with a Built-In Handle: A top-mounted carry handle and a countertop footprint mean it moves between a desk, a shelf and a game room unaided, far smaller than full size arcade machines
- Multiple Power Options: Run it on 4 AA batteries, not included, or plug in a Micro-USB cable, and it arrives fully assembled with nothing to build, among the easier gifts for a retro gaming household
