To start the Terrorizing Bird encounter in How to Fish, catch a Tuna with the Professional Boss Lure, keep its body, and place it on the ground at Island 4. Set up beside a building first: the guides recommend using cover during the bird’s attacks, then stepping out to fire during the opening. These details come from gameplay guides and community references rather than verified official documentation, so patch-sensitive steps may change.
What you need to start the fight
- Island 4 access: Gameplay guides place the Terrorizing Bird encounter on Island 4. A community reference also calls the boss the Albatross and associates it with Rocks Island; use the current in-game name and objective as your guide.
- Professional Boss Lure: The guides describe using this lure to catch Tuna.
- A Tuna body: Catch and defeat the Tuna, then keep its body. The guides say the body is the trigger bait; an ordinary fish is not described as a substitute.
- Building cover and a ranged weapon: Choose a building before placing the Tuna, and bring a weapon that can reach a flying target.
The exact quest activation sequence and NPC interaction are not consistent across the guides. Check the current quest objective rather than relying on a particular NPC order.
How to prepare the Tuna bait
- Go to Island 4 and check the active bird request or objective.
- Use the Professional Boss Lure to catch Tuna, following the game’s fishing prompts.
- Defeat or catch the Tuna and retain its body. Do not sell or consume it before the encounter.
- Move to the building you plan to use for cover. The NerdsChalk guide identifies the casino as a useful option because of its visibility, but this is guide advice, not a tested requirement.
- Place the Tuna body on the ground to draw in the bird, as described by the guides.
NerdsChalk Staff reported a $1,200 lure price, Tuna weight of 70, Tuna health of 6,000, and Tuna sale value of $2,000 in its 2026 guide. Those values have not been independently verified against current in-game data and may change with updates.
How to avoid the bird’s attacks
- Stay inside or behind the selected building while the bird attacks.
- Watch the bird’s position marker or listen for an attack cue if either is available in your current build. NerdsChalk describes using a marker or sound cue, but its presence and behavior have not been independently confirmed.
- Wait until the attack finishes, then step into a clear line of sight and fire.
- Return to cover before the next attack rather than remaining exposed to keep shooting.
The casino is one suggested place to balance visibility with cover, but the useful location is whichever building gives you a reliable sightline without forcing you to remain exposed.

What weapon should you use?
The guides suggest an Uzi or sniper-style weapon for a flying target and caution that a shotgun may be poorly suited to a distant bird. They do not provide comparable weapon tests or measured damage figures, so treat these as recommendations rather than a proven ranking.
- Range: Choose a weapon that can hit the bird from your protected position or during a brief opening.
- Accuracy: Favor a weapon you can aim quickly when stepping out to shoot.
- Control: Manage recoil so a short exposure window is not lost to missed shots.
What happens after you defeat it?
The How to Fish Game Help guide says to recover the bird trophy and return it for Volcano coordinates. A community guide describes defeating the Island 4 story boss as opening the Volcano route. Confirm the current quest giver and item label in-game, since the guides do not establish that every build uses identical wording or progression steps.

Names and version-sensitive details
Sources use both “Terrorizing Bird” and “Albatross” for this encounter. They agree on the Tuna-bait approach and building-cover strategy, but exact costs, combat values, attack behavior, and quest steps are not corroborated by primary game documentation here. Follow the current in-game objective if it differs from guide wording, especially after an update.
