AION 2 is a PC MMO built around flight, exploration, and combat that combines tab-targeting with timing and positioning. The global version launched October 5, 2026, and is distributed through Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform. Before choosing a class, know that the official launch information confirms eight classes but does not establish which is best for a particular player.
How do you start playing AION 2?
The global PC version is available through Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform. NC America announced local servers for North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, plus ten in-game language options: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Availability and account or regional restrictions can depend on the platform and location, so check the relevant live store and launcher before setting up an account. NC America’s global announcement lists the distribution and launch details.
NC America’s announced Early Access began September 30, 2026, for purchasers of a Founder’s Pack; the official launch followed on October 5. Those dates matter if you encounter older launch coverage: Early Access was a launch-period offer, not proof that a purchase is now required. The Early Access announcement described three launch-era packs: Standard at $24.99 USD, Deluxe at $49.99 USD, and Ultimate at $99.99 USD. Each included Early Access and a 30-day membership, with additional perks varying by tier. These historical prices do not establish what is currently offered; consult the live store for current access and membership terms.
What kind of MMO is AION 2?
Movement is a core part of the game, not just a way to travel between ground-based encounters. NC America highlights flight, aerial combat, and underwater exploration. It also describes the world as 36 times larger than the original AION; that is the publisher’s comparison, not an independently measured map-size assessment. The global announcement and the official Japanese AION 2 site provide additional launch information.

Combat is best understood as a blend rather than as purely action-based or purely tab-targeted. The global announcement describes traditional tab-targeting combined with precision, timing, and positioning. For a beginner, that means learning how target selection works while also paying attention to where you stand and when you act; the announcement does not provide enough detail to prescribe a specific control setup or combat rotation.
Which class should a beginner choose?
NC America confirms eight class choices and character customization across more than 200 features. The announcement does not provide a complete, current breakdown of class roles, range, complexity, solo strength, or PvP and PvE performance. Without those details—and current balance information—ranking the classes or naming a universally safest starter would be guesswork.
Rank #2
Instead, use the in-game class descriptions and preview options, if available, to compare what matters to you:
- Preferred range: Would you rather fight up close or from farther away?
- Combat feel: Do you want to focus on timing and positioning, or prefer a more straightforward-feeling approach?
- Group play: Do you expect to play mostly solo, in small groups, or in larger coordinated activities?
- Long-term interest: Are you more drawn to PvE, competitive arenas, or faction-versus-faction conflict?
Treat those questions as a way to identify your preferences, not as a verified class ranking. If you are deciding before the game shows you enough information, choose the class whose description and presentation appeal to you rather than relying on unsupported claims that one class is objectively best.

What activities can you play?
The announced content covers solo and group play, instanced challenges, arenas, and faction conflict. The global announcement lists the following formats:
| Activity | Announced format |
|---|---|
| Dungeons | Solo and four-player |
| Raids | Eight-player |
| Arenas | 1v1 and 4v4 |
| RvR | Cross-server |
| Abyss | Faction-based conflict |
Group sizes are not described identically across all official materials. The Japanese official site describes expedition dungeons for up to five players, while the global announcement lists solo and four-player dungeons. Check the activity’s in-game description for its actual party limit in your version rather than assuming every dungeon uses one format.

The official information cited here is enough to explain the game’s platforms, broad combat approach, class count, and activity types, but not to build a reliable leveling plan. The exact PC system requirements, an optimal leveling route, current class balance, recommended builds, gear priorities, and daily routine are not established by the available official details. A support search result surfaced a system-requirements FAQ, but its full contents could not be confirmed; consult the current support page and launcher before deciding whether your PC meets the requirements. That distinction is useful when evaluating beginner advice: a general description of flight or combat is not the same as a tested leveling route, and launch-era class information may not reflect later balance changes. Prefer current in-game tooltips and official notices for version-specific decisions.

Does AION 2 require a gaming mouse?
No specific mouse is established as a requirement. AION 2’s global version is PC-specific, and the publisher emphasizes precision, timing, and positioning, but that does not demonstrate that a particular accessory is necessary or superior. Start with your existing setup; consider a different mouse only if your own comfort or control preferences give you a reason to change.
