To turn on a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G, press and hold the Side key until the phone starts. If it does not respond, charge it and try again; a phone that still will not start may need Samsung service.
Turn on the Galaxy A32 5G
- Locate the Side key on the phone.
- Press and hold it until the device starts.
Samsung’s Galaxy A32 5G user manual names this control the “Side key.” It is the button some people call the power button.
If the phone does not respond
Check whether the battery may be depleted
Connect the phone to a compatible charger, allow it time to charge, then press and hold the Side key again. Charging is a sensible first check, not a guaranteed fix for a damaged phone or faulty key. Samsung’s manual notes that the wall charger is sold separately. Samsung lists USB Type-C for the unlocked US Galaxy A32 5G; confirm your regional model and accessory compatibility before choosing a charger. Samsung’s US support page identifies that model as SM-A326U1/DS.
Check for damage or a failed key
Samsung advises not to use the phone if its body is cracked or broken until it has been repaired. If the Side key does not work, or the phone remains unresponsive after charging, contact Samsung support or an authorized service provider. A separate startup method for a broken Side key is not established in the model’s manual.

Turning on is different from restarting or powering off
For a phone that is already running, press and hold the Side key and Volume down together to open the power menu. Tap Power off or Restart, then confirm the choice on screen. To start the phone normally after it is off, hold the Side key.
