To get a Qualtrics free trial, first check whether your school or employer already provides access. If not, create a free account with your email, verify it, then start the 30-day Strategic Research trial from Qualtrics’ trial page or from the trial banner or Plans page in an existing account. The ongoing free account and the 30-day trial are different options.
Check for school or workplace access first
Your university, employer, or another organization may already license Qualtrics. Start with its instructions rather than creating an individual account. Some organizations use a custom Qualtrics URL for sign-in, particularly when access is managed through single sign-on. Students can check for university access through Qualtrics’ academic flow; use your institution’s own login instructions if it provides them. See Qualtrics Support’s account and login guidance.
Start an individual account and activate the trial
- Sign up for a free account: Open Qualtrics’ free-account page, enter your email, create the account, and follow the verification link Qualtrics sends you.
- Start the Strategic Research trial: If you are new to Qualtrics, use the Strategic Research trial page. If you already have a free account, select the “Start Free Trial” banner or open the Plans page in your account.
- Allow time for activation: Trial features may take a few minutes to appear. If they are still missing after that, refresh the account and check again.

Free account vs. 30-day trial
The free Surveys account is an ongoing option for basic surveying. The Strategic Research trial lasts 30 days and opens many premium features, but Qualtrics says it does not include every feature available with a paid license. Both options have a three-active-survey limit, and neither allows email distribution.

Qualtrics documents the free-account limits in its Free Accounts guide and the trial limits in its Strategic Research Trial guide. If you only need a few basic surveys, the ongoing free account may be enough. If you need advanced question types or analytics, the time-limited trial is the relevant option.

What happens when the trial ends?
Qualtrics says that if you do not upgrade, your account automatically downgrades to the free Surveys account after 30 days. Surveys and responses remain accessible, but premium capabilities—including advanced question types and analytics—are no longer available. Plan work that depends on those features before the trial expires.
Qualtrics’ Buy Qualtrics Online Today page lists the online Strategic Research plan at $420 per month, billed annually at $5,040, with 1,000 responses shared across users. This is the listed price and allowance on the page as of 2026; check the page for current terms before purchasing.
