To assess a Nendoroid, match it against Good Smile Company’s official information for the exact product and release, then compare the packaging, figure parts, paint, and base markings. No single clue proves a figure is counterfeit: Good Smile Company says bootlegs may not share its listed traits and may closely resemble genuine products.
Start with the exact product and release
Identify the character, full product name, version, and whether the item is an original release or a rerelease. Find the matching official product information before judging differences. A comparison with a different version or release can make genuine packaging or part variations look suspicious.
Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid-specific examples cover Hatsune Miku: Symphony 5th Anniversary Ver., Chuya Nakahara, and Hunter. The details described for these figures are examples tied to those products, not a universal checklist.
Check the seller and purchase channel
Good Smile Company reports counterfeit sales through online auctions, private sales, and flea-market applications. It recommends buying from its online store or partner shops. A listing on one of those resale channels is a reason to assess the item carefully, not proof that it is fake.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Compare the packaging with the matching reference
Check whether the box has the manufacturer and brand logos, copyright statement, expected language, and product-specific details shown for that exact item. Good Smile Company’s general warning signs include missing marks, unusual or incorrect Japanese text, and products sold in bulk or without packaging. Its named examples also include missing foil stamping and a different box size.
Do not use box size or a changed design alone to decide authenticity. Good Smile Company announced that new Nendoroid and Nendoroid [Basic] packaging would be adopted gradually, product by product; rereleases may come in either old or new packaging. Compare the item’s release context with its official references.

Inspect the figure, parts, and base
Compare the actual figure with official product images, focusing on details specific to that model: how parts fit together, paint application, color and transparency, and the copyright text on the base. Good Smile Company’s examples describe differences in face-part separation and head-part assembly, as well as accessory paint, a lamp’s transparency or color, and missing base copyright text. Which details matter depends on the figure being checked.
Interpret license labels cautiously
A missing or different license label does not establish that a figure is counterfeit. Good Smile Company says some products have no label, some have the label printed on the packaging rather than applied as a sticker, and labels can vary with release timing or distribution region.

Use the manufacturer’s examples as clues, not a verdict
Good Smile Company explicitly cautions: “Not all bootleg will match the characteristics described below, therefore, we cannot guarantee that there is no bootleg using a similar design to genuine products.” A mismatch is a reason to compare more closely; a match to the listed traits—or their absence—cannot certify authenticity on its own.
Hatsune Miku: Symphony 5th Anniversary Ver.
In the specific counterfeit example, the box lacks manufacturer and brand logos and copyright text, has no foil-stamped product name on the transparent window, and differs in size. Good Smile Company cautions that other bootlegs may use different designs.
