Start with a Windows restart, a connection check, and updates for both Windows and the Xbox app. If loading is still slow, use the Xbox app’s Repair option in Settings, then Reset only if Repair fails. If Microsoft Store itself is hanging, run wsreset.exe. This order separates common restart, network, update, app-data, and Store problems without changing services or registry settings that Microsoft has not documented as fixes for this symptom.
Use this order before changing anything
Slow loading can come from several layers: Windows may have a pending update or a long-running session, the connection may be unstable, the Xbox app or Microsoft Store may be out of date, or the app’s local data may need repair. Work from the least disruptive checks toward the changes that can remove local app data.
- Restart Windows.
- Check whether the connection is stable, and compare with a wired connection if one is available.
- Update the Xbox app through Microsoft Store and install available Windows updates.
- Run Repair for the Xbox app.
- Run Reset if Repair does not help.
- Run
wsreset.exeonly when Microsoft Store itself is stuck or failing.
Test the Xbox app after each step. If a step changes the behavior, you know which layer was involved and can avoid more disruptive actions.

1. Restart Windows completely
Choose Start > Power > Restart, then wait for Windows to return to the desktop before opening the Xbox app. A restart clears a stalled app process and completes some updates that cannot finish while Windows is running. It is especially worthwhile if the computer has been running for days, the Xbox app was left open, or Windows has displayed an update notification.

- PoE Supported: All lengths of ethernet cord can support the PoE power supply function except 65ft. You don't need additional power supply when installing a PoE camera, which is very convenient and safe
- Wide Compatibility: With the RJ45 Connector, network cable can be perfectly compatible with computers, laptops, modems, routers, PS5, X-Box and other networking devices. It can also be fully backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6e, Cat6, Cat5e, Cat5
After signing in again, open the Xbox app from the Start menu and wait for its home page to load. Do not treat a single faster launch as proof that the underlying problem is permanently fixed; test the pages that were slow, such as the library or a game detail page.
2. Separate a network delay from a local app problem
The Xbox app needs a functioning internet connection to retrieve account, catalog, subscription, and game information. A brief Wi-Fi drop can look like an app that is frozen. Check whether other websites or online services load normally at the same time.
Compare the same task on another connection
If you have access to a wired network, connect the PC temporarily and repeat the same Xbox app action. A wired comparison can help isolate wireless instability, but changing the cable or connection is not a guaranteed fix for an app defect. If both connections show the same delay while other services work, continue with the app and update steps rather than repeatedly changing network hardware.
Record what the network test shows
- Only the Xbox app is slow: prioritize Store updates, Windows updates, Repair, and Reset.
- Several online services are slow: stabilize the connection first and retest the app afterward.
- The app is fast on one connection but slow on another: the comparison points to a connection-specific problem, not proof that the Xbox app itself is damaged.
A network test is diagnostic. It does not establish that an Ethernet cable, router change, or other accessory will speed up the app in every case.

3. Update the Xbox app and Windows
Store apps can behave poorly when the app or its supporting Windows components are behind the current release. Microsoft’s PC troubleshooting guidance directs users to update the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store and notes that Windows Update can deliver Store app updates.
Update the Xbox app in Microsoft Store
- Open Microsoft Store from the Start menu.
- Open Library.
- Select Get updates (the exact button can vary by Store release).
- Allow updates for the Xbox app and any other Store components to finish.
- Close Microsoft Store, restart Windows if an update requests it, and test the Xbox app again.
Keep the Store window open until the download and installation status completes. A queued update that has not finished can leave the app on an old build even after you have clicked the update control.
Install available Windows updates
- Open Settings.
- Go to Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install the updates Windows offers and restart when prompted.
- Launch the Xbox app after the restart and repeat the slow action.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 use different Settings layouts in places, but both provide Windows Update and Microsoft Store update controls. If a restart is requested, complete it before judging whether loading improved.
4. Repair the Xbox app without removing its local data
Windows provides a Repair action for some installed apps. Repair is the first app-level recovery step because it attempts to correct the installation without the broader local-data change associated with Reset. Not every app exposes Advanced options, so the button may be absent.

Windows 11 path
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Find Xbox in the list, or use the search box.
- Select the app’s three-dot menu and choose Advanced options.
- Under the Reset section, select Repair.
- Wait for Windows to finish, then open the Xbox app and test the page that was slow.
Windows 10 path
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Apps & features.
- Select Xbox in the list.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair, wait for completion, and test the app.
If Advanced options or Repair is not present, skip to the next applicable step. Do not substitute unrelated service or registry changes for a missing Repair button.
5. Use Reset only after Repair fails
Reset is the next Windows recovery action when Repair does not resolve the loading problem. Windows warns that resetting an app can reset its local app data or settings. The available guidance does not establish the exact Xbox-specific data that will be removed, so treat Reset as a change that may require you to sign in again or reapply local preferences.
- Return to the Xbox app’s Advanced options page using the Windows 11 or Windows 10 path above.
- Select Reset and confirm the Windows prompt.
- Wait for the operation to complete.
- Open the Xbox app, sign in if requested, and test loading again.
Reset is not the same as uninstalling every related Windows component, and it is not a promise of a faster launch. It is a controlled way to rebuild the app’s local state when Repair has not helped.

- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Enter
wsreset.exe. - Press Enter.
- Wait while a blank command window opens and closes. Microsoft says this takes about ten seconds.
- Microsoft Store should open automatically after the command completes.
- Return to Library, select Get updates, and retest the Xbox app.
Do not close the blank command window merely because it does not display progress. If Store does not open after it closes, reopen Microsoft Store from Start and check whether Library updates work.
Choose the next step from the symptom
| What you observe | Most useful next action | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Windows has been running for a long time or has a pending restart | Restart Windows | A restart clears a stalled session and applies updates that require rebooting. |
| Other online services also load slowly | Compare with a stable wired connection if available | The comparison helps identify connection instability. |
| Microsoft Store opens and Library updates are available | Update the Xbox app, then install Windows updates | An outdated Store app or Windows build can leave the app in a faulty state. |
| Only Xbox is slow and Advanced options contains Repair | Run Repair | Repair is the least disruptive app-level recovery option. |
| Repair finishes but the same loading problem remains | Consider Reset | Reset rebuilds local app state but can remove local data or settings. |
| Microsoft Store is blank, stuck, or unable to perform updates | Run wsreset.exe |
The command resets Store cache behavior; it does not directly repair every Xbox app problem. |
What not to change without verified guidance
Microsoft identifies Configuration Service as a service used by apps including the Xbox app. That relationship does not establish that stopping, restarting, reinstalling, or reconfiguring the service is a supported remedy for slow loading. Avoid changing it merely because the app is slow.
The same caution applies to registry edits, deleting protected folders, and ad hoc service changes. They can create new problems while obscuring whether the original issue was a connection, update, Store, or app-data problem. The supported sequence above gives you several lower-risk checks first.

How to test after each change
Use a repeatable test instead of judging only the first splash screen. Close the Xbox app, reopen it, and perform the same action that was slow before—for example, opening the home page, library, or a game listing. Note whether the page loads, remains blank, or shows an error. Then repeat once after the app has been closed and reopened.

- If the first launch improves but later pages remain slow, continue with updates and Repair rather than assuming the issue is solved.
- If Store updates cannot run, resolve the Store condition with
wsreset.exeand try the update again. - If Reset completes but the app still loads slowly on both Wi-Fi and wired testing, the available guidance does not identify a further Xbox-specific loading fix.
No measured loading-time improvement or repair success rate is established by the official material used for this procedure. Results depend on the PC, Windows edition, app state, Store state, and network conditions.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 paths at a glance
| Task | Windows 11 | Windows 10 |

| Repair or Reset | Choose Repair or Reset on the Advanced options page | Choose Repair or Reset on the Advanced options page |
| Install Windows updates | Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates | Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update |
| Refresh Microsoft Store cache | Win + R, enter wsreset.exe, press Enter |

Labels can vary slightly after a Windows feature update, but the distinction between Windows 11’s Installed apps page and Windows 10’s Apps & features page remains the key navigation difference.
When to stop troubleshooting
Stop after the sequence has isolated the likely layer and you have completed the supported recovery actions. If the Xbox app remains slow after a restart, stable-connection comparison, Store and Windows updates, Repair, and (when acceptable) Reset, repeating the same commands is unlikely to add information. Keep a note of which steps you performed and whether Microsoft Store itself worked; that record is useful if you need Microsoft support or Windows-specific assistance.
Recommended Free Tools
Do not claim that a particular cable, service restart, or hidden setting will solve the problem unless an up-to-date Microsoft instruction specifically supports it for your Windows build. The safest practical approach is to preserve your account and app settings where possible, escalate from reversible checks to Reset, and reserve Store cache reset for an actual Store failure.
