To spawn one zombie directly, open the console, use lpi to find the target player’s ID, use se to list the current entity IDs, then run spawnentity <playerID> <entityID>. You can also open the Debug Mode Entity Spawner with F6, create a wandering horde with spawnwh, or send a Screamer toward the command location with spawnscouts.
Before you use a spawn command
Console spawning requires a game build or server in which you have permission to run console commands. On a dedicated server, the administrator may restrict command access even when you can play normally. Exact command behavior, entity names and interface details can vary between versions and platforms, so use the output from your current build rather than copying an ID from an old guide.
- Make a backup of an important world before testing unusual spawns.
- Stand near a safe location. A spawned entity can appear at a player’s position or approach from a distance, depending on the command.
- Decide whether you need one specific entity, a menu-driven spawn, a wandering horde or a Screamer. Each has a different method.

How to spawn one zombie with the console
1. Open the console and identify the player
Open the in-game console using the key or control assigned by your platform and installation. Run:
lpiThe command displays player IDs. Record the ID belonging to the player who should receive the spawn. In multiplayer, do not assume the first listed player is the correct target; match the ID to the displayed player name.

2. List the entity IDs available in this build
Run:
seThis lists current entity IDs. The internal name may not match the name shown in the game, and the list can differ by build or platform. Select the entity ID from this output instead of guessing a name from memory. If the list is long, read the complete console output and verify that you have selected the intended zombie or other entity.
3. Spawn the entity at the selected player
Use the player’s ID from lpi and the entity ID from se:

spawnentity <playerID> <entityID>For example, if the console reported a target player ID and an entity ID for the desired zombie, replace both angle-bracketed values with those exact values. The entity is spawned at the selected player’s location.
se is also the short alias for the spawn command. The equivalent form is:
se <playerID> <entityID>Because se is also used by itself to display entity IDs, include both arguments when you intend to spawn something. Running it without arguments is the listing step; running it with the player and entity IDs is the spawning step.

4. Confirm the result safely
- Check the selected player’s position rather than the administrator’s position if you targeted another player.
- If nothing appears, verify that the command returned no permission or syntax error and repeat the ID lookup in the current session.
- Do not reuse an ID copied from a different world, build or server configuration until it appears in the current
seoutput.
Using the Debug Mode Entity Spawner
Debug Mode provides a visual alternative when you prefer selecting an entity from a menu. Enable Debug Mode in the game, then press F6 to open the Entity Spawner. Choose the entity from the list and confirm the spawn through that interface.

This route avoids manually entering an entity ID, but it still depends on your permissions and on the entities exposed by the current build. If F6 does not open the spawner, confirm that Debug Mode is actually enabled and that the current platform supports the same debug interface. The exact Debug Mode activation control is not universal across every release, so use the setting exposed by your build.
How to spawn a wandering horde
Use:
spawnwhThis command creates a wandering horde in the distance. The horde generally moves toward the player from the place where it was spawned, giving you time to prepare rather than placing every enemy directly on top of you. Because it is a group event, the result is not equivalent to repeating the single-entity command several times: movement, timing and the active-world spawn cap can affect what you see.
Use a clear observation area and avoid testing the command inside a base you cannot afford to defend. If the horde appears smaller than expected, other active entities and the world’s spawn limits may be consuming the available capacity.
How to spawn a Screamer
Run:
spawnscoutsThe command creates one Screamer in the distance and makes it navigate toward the location where the command was used. It is therefore useful for testing a defense or a Screamer-related encounter without waiting for ordinary world spawning. The command does not represent an unlimited stream of Screamers; each use creates the documented single Screamer.

Blood Moon: the built-in way to create a large horde event
A Blood Moon is not a manual “spawn every zombie” command. It is a recurring event whose wave number and zombie strength are driven by Game Stage. Each wave has a total and a timer. The event advances when the wave is killed or its timer expires; at 04:00 the Blood Moon is complete, and remaining Blood Moon zombies return to normal behavior.
How many enemies can be active
The official Blood Moon reference lists these default values:

These are documented defaults, not a guarantee that every multiplayer group will see 8 enemies per player. The world-wide maximum can become the limiting value, particularly when several players are present or other entities are already active. Game Stage, the number of players, the wave timer and both caps all influence the event.
Server settings that affect spawning
Gameplay settings
If ordinary zombies are absent, unusually numerous or not behaving as expected, inspect the world’s Enemy Spawning and related game settings before assuming the console command failed. A setting that disables or reduces normal spawning does not necessarily prevent an administrator from using a direct entity command, but it changes what happens outside that command.

BloodMoonFrequency, which controls how often the Blood Moon cycle occurs.BloodMoonEnemyCount, which controls the Blood Moon enemy allowance per player.MaxSpawnedZombies, which controls the world-wide active-zombie cap.
Change these values only while the server is stopped or according to the server administrator’s normal configuration procedure, then restart and verify the effective settings in the running world. A configuration change is a server-management route, not a substitute for the quick console commands above.
Bedroll dead zones
The dedicated-server reference also documents a bedroll dead zone. Normal zombie spawning is prevented inside that area, and the zone can affect cleared sleeper volumes. If a settlement near a bedroll seems unusually empty, check this mechanic before changing global spawn limits.
World and biome spawning configuration
Dedicated servers can alter world and biome spawning through spawning configuration. This is a configuration or modding approach for changing ongoing spawn behavior, not a one-time gameplay command. It is appropriate when you need a persistent rules change across a server, but it requires configuration management and version-specific validation.

Choosing the right method
For a quick one-zombie test
Use lpi, se, and spawnentity. This is the most precise route because you choose both the receiving player and the entity ID.
For experimenting with several entity types
Enable Debug Mode and use F6. The menu is faster when you are testing possibilities and do not want to interpret internal names, provided the debug interface is available in your build.

For testing defenses against a moving group
Use spawnwh. Its distant starting position and movement toward the player more closely resemble a wandering-horde approach than a single entity placed at your feet.
For testing Screamer responses
Use spawnscouts once, then observe the approach and your base’s response. Remember that the command documents one Screamer, not a repeating escalation mechanism.
For a scheduled challenge
Use the Blood Moon system rather than manually creating a large number of entities. Its finite waves, timer, Game Stage scaling and caps produce the game’s intended event behavior. If the event is too small or too large on a dedicated server, adjust the relevant server settings rather than relying on repeated ad-hoc commands.
What can vary between versions and platforms
Entity IDs, command permissions and UI behavior are not established as universally identical across every release or platform. Treat the current console output and the permissions granted on your server as authoritative. The command patterns above are the documented routes, but a current build may expose a different entity list or restrict debug and console functions to administrators.
