Samsung Music Share lets a friend connect to an audio device that is already paired to your supported Galaxy phone, so you can share a Bluetooth speaker without first unpairing it. It shares access to the audio connection—not music files—and does not require buying new hardware. Both phones need Music Share, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth enabled for the documented setup.
Which Music Share setup do you need?
| Use case | Audio destination | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Share a speaker | A Bluetooth speaker already connected to the host Galaxy phone | The friend selects the same speaker and the host may need to approve the request. The Galaxy S23 manual says playback from the friend’s phone pauses music playing through the host phone. |
| Listen together | The host’s Galaxy Buds and a friend’s Galaxy Buds | On the Galaxy S23 series flow documented in the manual, the host chooses Music Share and the friend’s Buds from Media output; the friend accepts the request. The manual specifies the Galaxy Buds series for this flow. |
These are distinct features and steps. The documented speaker flow does not establish that both phones can play separate audio through one speaker at the same time. Samsung’s US setup instructions use a wireless Bluetooth speaker as an example, while the Galaxy S23 series manual separately explains the Buds listen-together flow.
How to share a Bluetooth speaker with a friend
In this setup, your phone is the host: the speaker is paired to it first, and your friend’s phone requests access. The friend does not need to pair the speaker by removing it from your phone.
- Prepare the host phone. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, then pair the Bluetooth speaker with your Galaxy phone if it is not already connected.
- Open Music Share. Swipe down to open Quick settings and tap Music Share. If you do not see the tile, edit Quick settings and add it. Samsung India also documents Settings > Connected devices > Music Share; menu names can vary, so search Settings for “Music Share” if needed.
- Check sharing options. In Music Share settings, review connected-device permissions and how long a device stays connected after music stops, if those options are available on your phone.
- Prepare your friend’s phone. Your friend turns on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Music Share. To find the speaker, they touch and hold the Bluetooth icon to open Bluetooth device search, then scan if necessary.
- Select the same speaker. Your friend chooses the speaker already connected to your phone. If a permission prompt appears on your phone, approve it only if you expect the request.
- Play music. After the connection is accepted, your friend can play music through the speaker.
Samsung describes the goal as sharing a paired audio device without registering a new Bluetooth connection: “With Music Share, you can easily pair a second Galaxy device without needing to register a new Bluetooth connection.” — Samsung Mobile Press, February 18, 2021.

How to listen together with Galaxy Buds
The Galaxy S23 series manual describes a separate Music Share flow for two listeners using Galaxy Buds. It is not the same as letting a friend play through your speaker.
- Your friend enables Music Share on their supported Galaxy phone.
- On the host phone, open Media output.
- Select Music Share, then select your friend’s Galaxy Buds.
- Your friend accepts the request on their phone.
The cited manual limits this listen-together description to the Galaxy Buds series. Do not assume that any two Bluetooth earbud pairs can use the same feature.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).

For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Why can’t you find Music Share?
Music Share is available only on select Galaxy devices; Samsung cautions that support and menus can vary by model, software, and region. The current US support flow points readers to Samsung’s supported-phone information rather than providing a universal model list in its setup instructions. Samsung Canada’s page, last updated October 5, 2020, names S20, Z Flip, Note10, Fold, and S10 series phones sold in Canada at that time, but that historical regional list should not be treated as a current worldwide compatibility list.
- Look for the Music Share tile in Quick settings and use the tile editor to add it if available.
- Search Settings for “Music Share.” Samsung India documents the route Settings > Connected devices > Music Share.
- If the feature is absent, verify support for your specific model and software with Samsung support.
- For a connection attempt, check that both phones have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Music Share enabled; confirm the speaker is connected to the host phone and that the friend selected that same speaker.
Samsung’s India support guidance and Canada support page also note that availability or settings may differ. The cited official materials do not establish one universal software-version fix for a missing tile.

What to know about permissions and privacy
A connection may require approval: the host can receive an Allow prompt for speaker sharing, and the S23 manual describes acceptance by the host for speaker sharing and by the friend for the Galaxy Buds flow. Accept requests you recognize, then turn off Music Share or adjust its sharing controls when you are finished.
Samsung Mobile Press describes the feature’s security approach this way: “When using Music Share, a search takes place between your smartphone and your friend’s phone, which might pose a security risk if no extra measures are taken. However, our system encrypts your personal information using a unique key, which is generated for each smartphone.” This is Samsung’s description, not an independent security assessment.
