World of Warcraft’s Warband system gives characters on the same Battle.net account and region several ways to share resources, but it does not make every item or reward transferable. Use the Warband Bank at a banker to move eligible non-soulbound items and gold manually. Warbound until Equipped gear can move between Warband characters until someone equips it. Reputations, achievements, and collections use account-wide rules instead of physical transfers, and each system has exceptions.
This guide separates those mechanics so you know what to deposit, what is shared automatically, what remains character-specific, and what to check when an alt cannot use something you expected to share.
What a WoW Warband includes
A Warband covers all characters on one Battle.net account within one region. Blizzard’s Warband overview describes the system as spanning realms and factions in that region, and it also describes the feature as spanning subscriptions within the region. A character does not need to be on the same realm or faction as the character that originally earned or stored something.

- Shared as progression: Converted Warband reputations and other account-wide systems display progress earned by the characters together. No item is moved.
- Shared as a collection: Appearances and achievements are recorded for the Warband, but a character may still be unable to use a particular reward.
These rules apply only to characters in that regional Warband. They do not bypass an item’s binding status, a class restriction, or a reward that Blizzard still grants separately to each character.
How to share gold and items with the Warband Bank
The Warband Bank is the direct-transfer tool. Blizzard describes it as shared item storage and as a place to deposit and manually withdraw gold between Warband characters. It is separate from each character’s ordinary bank.
1. Confirm the receiving character is in the same Warband
Before moving anything, check that both characters use the same Battle.net account and region. Different realms and factions are allowed; a character on another Battle.net account or another region is outside the Warband and cannot access its bank.

Go to a banker in game and open the Warband Bank. The bank is accessed through bankers rather than through the character’s personal bank interface. If the Warband Bank option is not visible, make sure you are interacting with a banker and that the character is logged into the intended Battle.net account and region.
3. Deposit eligible items
Blizzard’s preview states that non-soulbound items can be deposited in the Warband Bank. Place the eligible item in a Warband Bank slot, then log onto another Warband character and withdraw it. This is a manual transfer: the item remains in storage until the receiving character takes it out.
The non-soulbound qualification is the key test. An item that is already soulbound to one character is not made transferable merely because both characters belong to the same Warband. Warband access also does not turn every piece of equipment into a universally usable item; the recipient must still meet the item’s normal use restrictions.
4. Deposit and withdraw gold
The Warband Bank supports manual gold deposits and withdrawals. Deposit gold from one Warband character, switch to the other character, open the bank at a banker, and withdraw the amount needed. This is an in-game transfer between characters in the regional Warband, not a mail route and not a service that removes binding restrictions.

Keep enough personal gold for travel, repairs, purchases, or other immediate costs before depositing the rest. Because the transfer is manual, you control the amount placed in the shared balance and the amount each alt removes.
5. Use reagents directly while crafting
Reagents stored in the Warband Bank can supply crafting without first being withdrawn to the crafter’s personal inventory. This is useful when several characters contribute materials: place eligible reagents in the shared bank, start crafting on the character with the required profession, and let the crafting interface draw from the Warband Bank when the game permits it.
Direct reagent use does not mean every crafting input is exempt from item rules. The reagent still has to be eligible for Warband storage, and the crafting character still needs the appropriate profession, recipe, or other requirements.
Warband Bank capacity and dated figures
Blizzard’s April 17, 2024 Warband overview described up to five tabs with 98 inventory slots each. The same overview said tabs were purchased for increasing amounts of gold. Those are launch-era capacity and cost details, not a promise that the October 2026 game has the same limits or prices. Check the current bank interface before planning storage around those figures.

How to move gear between alts
Do not treat all gear as freely transferable. The Warband system introduced a specific item status, Warbound until Equipped, for gear that can be passed between Warband characters before one of them equips it.
What “Warbound until Equipped” means
An item with this status can be moved among characters in the same Warband while it remains unequipped. Once a character equips it, the item is no longer covered by the “until Equipped” sharing window. The status therefore helps you route a drop to the character who can use it, but it is not a claim that all equipped gear, all bound gear, or all loot can move afterward.
Blizzard’s preview also described bonus gear as occasionally appearing at a tier below the gear from its source and said it may be usable by any class. Treat that as a description of the bonus-gear system, not as a guarantee for every drop or every item level.

A safe gear-transfer workflow
- Inspect the item before equipping it. Look for the Warbound until Equipped status in the item tooltip.
- Leave the item unequipped. Equipping it can end the transferable state.
- Open the Warband Bank at a banker. Deposit the item if the bank accepts it.
- Log onto the intended alt. The destination must be another character in the same regional Warband.
- Withdraw and inspect again. Confirm that the recipient can use the item before equipping it.
If the bank rejects the item, do not force the transfer through another method. An item can be outside the Warband Bank’s eligibility rules even when it looks like normal gear, and Warband membership does not override soulbinding or other restrictions.

Progress sharing is different from moving an object. When a system is converted to Warband status, the game records the characters’ progress together and displays the applicable account-wide result.
Warband reputations and Renown
For reputations converted to Warband status, progress made on one character is available to the Warband. The displayed level is the furthest progress reached by any character; it is not the sum of every alt’s progress.
For example, if one character is at Renown 5 and another is at Renown 10, the Warband display shows Renown 10. The game does not add those values to produce Renown 15, and the lower character does not erase the higher character’s progress.
Not every reputation is included. Blizzard identifies exclusions, so a reputation that has not been converted to Warband status continues to follow its existing character-level rules. Check the reputation panel and current game documentation rather than assuming that every faction is account-wide.

Shared progress does not guarantee a single universal reward claim. Blizzard states that Warband-wide rewards are granted once, while some rewards still need to be collected on each character. A reward can therefore be unlocked by the account but require each eligible character to visit the appropriate vendor, quest giver, or interface before that character receives it.
When a reward appears to be missing, first determine whether it is a Warband-wide unlock or a character-specific grant. The progress level can be shared even when the reward delivery is not.

Achievements and other account-wide systems
Blizzard’s July 11, 2024 launch announcement identifies shared Renown, achievements, and collections among the systems introduced with Warbands. That announcement is not a complete list of every system or every exception, so use the current in-game panel for the system you are checking. The practical rule is to look for the system’s own Warband or account-wide indicator instead of assuming that all character progress has merged.
How transmog appearances work across alts
Appearance collection has two separate questions: Is the appearance unlocked? and Can this character use it? Warband rules can answer the first question without changing the second.

Blizzard says most appearances can be collected by any Warband character regardless of whether that character can equip the item. A character can therefore add an appearance to the shared collection even when the item’s armor type, weapon type, or class requirement prevents that character from wearing it.
Class-specific appearances remain an exception. If an appearance is restricted to a class, the collection rule does not make it universally available. After an appearance is collected, each character still follows the normal usage restrictions shown in the transmog interface.
Checking an appearance before you discard an item
- Review the item’s appearance and any class restriction.
- Check whether the appearance is already recorded in the shared collection.
- If it is not collected, decide which Warband character should learn it under the applicable appearance rules.
- After collection, verify the destination character’s usable appearances in the transmog interface rather than assuming that every alt can apply it.
This prevents a common mistake: confusing “the Warband can collect this appearance” with “every character can transmog this appearance.”
What Warbands do not make shareable
Warbands expand account-wide access, but they do not erase the boundaries built into individual items and rewards.
- Soulbound items: Blizzard’s Warband Bank description covers non-soulbound deposits. A soulbound item is not made transferable by placing both characters in one Warband.
- Equipped Warbound gear: The special status applies until the item is equipped. It is not a permanent transfer license.
- Every reputation: Some reputations are excluded from Warband conversion.
- Every reward: Some rewards remain character-specific even when the underlying progress is shared.
- Every appearance for every class: Class-specific appearances remain restricted, and collection is separate from use.
- Characters outside the regional Warband: A different Battle.net account or region is not covered by the shared systems described here.

Troubleshooting common sharing problems
“My alt cannot see the item.”
Confirm that you deposited the item in the Warband Bank rather than the first character’s personal bank. Then check that both characters are on the same Battle.net account and region. If the item was soulbound, it does not meet the stated non-soulbound deposit rule. If it is gear, inspect whether it actually has the Warbound until Equipped status and whether it was equipped before the transfer.

“The bank will not accept this gear.”
Recheck the item tooltip and binding status. Warband membership is not a substitute for an item’s eligibility. An item that lacks the appropriate transferable status or is already soulbound may remain character-bound.
“My reputation did not add together with my other alt’s reputation.”
That is expected for converted Warband reputations. The display uses the highest progress achieved by any character; it does not add every character’s level. If the reputation is not one of those converted to Warband status, it may remain character-specific.
“The reputation is shared, but I cannot find the reward.”
Check whether the reward is Warband-wide or character-specific. Blizzard’s description allows both outcomes: some rewards are granted once to the Warband, while others still require collection on each character.
“An appearance is collected but unavailable on my alt.”
Separate collection from use. Most appearances can be collected across the Warband even by a character that cannot equip the source item, but class-specific appearances remain an exception and normal usage restrictions still apply.
“The Warband conversion is still running.”
Blizzard’s July 11, 2024 launch article warned that the first-login Warband conversion could take up to 20 minutes or longer. That was a launch-era expectation, not a current operational guarantee. If the delay persists, check the current game client and official patch information before concluding that progress was lost.
A practical checklist for moving resources to an alt
- Verify the source and destination characters share one Battle.net account and region.
- For gold or ordinary items, visit a banker and use the Warband Bank.
- Deposit only items that satisfy the bank’s current eligibility rules; Blizzard’s published description specifically qualifies non-soulbound items.
- For gear, inspect the tooltip for Warbound until Equipped before equipping or depositing it.
- On the destination character, withdraw the item or gold manually.
- For crafting, leave eligible reagents in the Warband Bank and check whether the recipe can use them directly.
- For reputation, achievements, or collections, look in the relevant account-wide panel instead of searching for a physical item to transfer.
- For appearances, confirm both that the appearance is collected and that the destination character is allowed to use it.
- If a feature behaves differently from these descriptions, check the current in-game tooltip or official patch notes; the published capacity and implementation details date from 2024 and may have changed by October 2026.
Bottom line
Use the Warband Bank when you need to move gold, reagents, or eligible items yourself. Treat Warbound until Equipped as a limited gear-sharing status, not a universal equipment rule. For reputations, achievements, and appearances, look for account-wide progress or collection records and then check the separate reward, class, and usability restrictions. That model tells you whether to deposit an object, wait for shared progress to appear, or accept that a particular item or reward remains character-specific.
