To share a new Flip video with students, add a Flip video recording to a new assignment in Microsoft Teams for Education, then share the assignment. The old standalone Flip apps have been retired, and Microsoft says existing videos can no longer be retrieved—so the current Teams steps are for making and sharing a new recording, not recovering an old Flipgrid response.
How do I share a new Flip video with my students?
Microsoft’s current workflow puts the Flip camera inside a Teams for Education assignment. The video is attached to the assignment instructions, where students can review it after you share the assignment. Follow Microsoft’s Flip video recording for assignments in Microsoft Teams instructions:
- Open the class team in Microsoft Teams for Education.
- Select Create, then New Assignment.
- Below the instructions box, select +New, then Flip video recording.
- Record your video and give it a name. Microsoft says the uploaded recording appears at the bottom of the assignment instructions.
- Share the assignment. Students can review the video in the assignment.
If you need to redo the recording
On the review screen, choose Record again to make another recording, or select Delete clip to remove the clip.

Microsoft’s official retirement notice says, “The Flip apps have been retired, but you can still use the Flip camera in Microsoft Teams for Education.” It also states, “Please note that any existing videos can no longer be retrieved.” Read Microsoft Education’s Flip retirement notice.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat mode
- Auto-Light Balance: RightLight boosts brightness by up to 50%, reducing shadows so you look your best—compared to previous-generation Logitech webcams (1)
- Privacy with a Slide: The integrated webcam cover makes it easy to get total, reliable privacy when you're not on a video call
- Built-In Mic: The built-in microphone lets others hear you clearly during video calls
- Easy Plug-And-Play: The Brio 101 works with most video calling platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet—no hassle; it just works
That means the current assignment workflow does not provide a way to recover or reshare a legacy Flipgrid response. The official material does not confirm that old response links, Grid sharing buttons, QR codes, embed codes, or past classroom integrations still work. If you already have a copy of a video saved outside the retired apps, this retrieval notice does not address how that separate copy can be shared.
