Publishing a CMPivot query to Configuration Manager’s Community Hub was a console workflow introduced in version 2107. Treat the instructions below as historical and version-qualified: Microsoft’s contribution guide says the Community Hub node was being removed from future Configuration Manager releases beginning with version 2303, and the cited documentation does not confirm availability in current releases. First check whether your installed console still exposes Community Hub.

Check availability and prerequisites first

Microsoft’s CMPivot publishing directions apply to Configuration Manager version 2107 or later, but that does not mean the workflow is available in every later release. The Community Hub contribution guide says the node was being removed from future releases beginning with version 2303. Check your installed version and console; if Community Hub is absent, the cited documentation does not establish an alternate current submission path for this CMPivot workflow.

For an installation where the feature is available, verify these requirements before starting:

  • CMPivot is available to your account, and your Configuration Manager security role allows the required actions.
  • Community Hub is enabled, and the installation’s administration-service and network access requirements are met. A firewall or proxy may need to allow the Hub’s internet endpoints.
  • You have a GitHub account that has joined Community Hub and accepted the invitation sent by email. Microsoft says the invitation must be accepted to contribute.
  • If the console prompts you, install the WebView2 console extension.

For details, see Microsoft’s CMPivot documentation and the Community Hub and GitHub overview.

Publish a CMPivot query from the console

  1. Open a target in the console. Go to Assets and Compliance > Device Collections. Select a target collection, device, or group, then start CMPivot from the ribbon.
  2. Sign in to Community Hub. In CMPivot, open the Community Hub view and sign in with the GitHub account that joined the Hub and accepted its email invitation.
  3. Create and test the query. Enter the query and run it to confirm it works. If you previously saved the query as a favorite, you can load that instead. Check the results before submitting.
  4. Submit it. Choose Publish, enter a clear name and description, and submit the contribution.
  5. Track review. Open the Me tab and follow the displayed pull-request link, or use your Your Hub page to monitor the contribution.

Microsoft describes the CMPivot submission as a contribution reviewed through GitHub. See its Community Hub contribution guide for the general contribution process.

Know the post-publication limitation

Microsoft’s CMPivot documentation states: “Currently, when you publish a query through CMPivot, you can’t edit or delete it after publishing.” The general contribution guide describes update and delete controls for contributions submitted through its contribution flow; do not assume those controls apply to a query published through CMPivot.

If Community Hub is missing

Confirm the Configuration Manager version and check whether the Community Hub view is present in the console. The version 2107 documentation establishes when direct CMPivot publishing began, while Microsoft’s contribution guide describes removal of the Community Hub node beginning with version 2303. Those notices do not establish that the CMPivot publishing interface remains available in current releases. If it is not present, the cited Microsoft pages do not document a replacement route for this specific workflow.
