To set up Falcon, insert a compatible UHS-I V30-or-faster microSD card, mount the camera on an NT4 or NT4 Pro tripod, pair it through the XbotGo App (not the phone’s Wi-Fi menu), then tap Record and follow the calibration and positioning prompts. Once recording starts, leave the camera body untouched and make adjustments from the monitor device.
What you need before arriving at the venue
Pack the complete recording chain so setup does not stop at the sideline:
- Falcon camera.
- The supplied quick-release plate.
- An NT4 or NT4 Pro tripod, or a tripod head that accepts the supplied plate.
- A compatible microSD card. XbotGo says the camera cannot record without one.
- A phone with the XbotGo App version 4.3.0 or later installed.
- Power for the camera and phone for the planned session. Falcon’s 9,600mAh battery is rated at approximately four hours, but actual runtime changes with resolution and other settings.
Install or update the app before you reach the field. Pairing requires both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and iPhone users must allow the app to access the Local Network. If a VPN or ad-blocking utility is active on the phone, disable it while pairing; XbotGo warns that these services can block the camera connection.

Use the required speed class
For a 4K recording workflow, choose a microSD card rated UHS-I V30 or faster. V30 indicates the sustained-write class expected for demanding video capture; a card that only lists a lower speed class does not meet XbotGo’s stated requirement. Falcon supports cards up to 1,024GB. The card is not included with the camera, so it must be supplied separately.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Insert the card before powering up a session
- With the camera powered off, locate the microSD slot.
- Insert the card in the orientation shown by the slot marking until it is seated.
- Confirm that the card is recognized before you begin a match recording. If Falcon reports no card, remove and reseat it rather than starting the session.
XbotGo’s setup guidance is explicit: “Without an SD card, Falcon cannot record videos.” Treat card installation as a preflight requirement, not an optional step. A 1TB card is within Falcon’s stated capacity limit, but the manufacturer does not specify recording hours for each resolution or setting; available time depends on the chosen recording configuration.
Power on Falcon
- Find the power safety lock on the bottom of the camera.
- Unlock the safety lock.
- Press the power button.
- Wait for the startup interface to appear before mounting or opening the app.
Do not begin the app workflow while the camera is still starting. The startup interface confirms that Falcon has completed its initial boot and is ready for device discovery.
Mount Falcon on the sideline tripod
Attach the quick-release plate to the tripod
- Secure the supplied quick-release plate to the tripod head.
- Before sliding the camera on, check that the plate rail is parallel with Falcon’s base slot.
- Slide Falcon into the center of the plate from the side.
- Tighten the locking knob until the camera is firmly held.
Check the lock physically before raising the tripod. Falcon weighs about 815g, so a partially engaged plate can shift when the tripod is moved. The camera provides a 360-degree rotation range and a 160-degree tilt range, but those movement ranges do not replace a stable, correctly mounted tripod.

- Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the phone.
- Open XbotGo App version 4.3.0 or later.
- On the app home screen, open Device Connections.
- Tap Add Device.
- Choose Falcon.
- Accept the system prompt asking to join Falcon’s built-in Wi-Fi.
On an iPhone, grant Local Network permission when iOS asks. Without that permission, the app may not be able to discover or communicate with the camera even when Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.
If pairing does not complete
- Confirm that the app is version 4.3.0 or newer.
- Check that both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.
- On iPhone, open the phone’s privacy settings and make sure XbotGo has Local Network access.
- Temporarily disable a VPN or ad blocker, then retry Device Connections > Add Device > Falcon.
- Do not try to bypass the app by joining Falcon from the phone’s Wi-Fi list. That is not the supported pairing method.
Start a session and let Falcon calibrate
- In the connected app, tap Record.
- Select the recording mode shown by the app.
- Enter venue information if the app requests it.
- Wait for the recording interface to open.
- Allow Falcon to run its automatic self-calibration.
Calibration starts automatically when you enter the recording interface; XbotGo says no manual intervention is required. Do not rotate the camera body or attempt to steer the lens during this stage. Let the process finish before making the tripod adjustments requested by the app.
Set the sideline position and height
Follow the app’s placement prompts
After calibration, the app prompts you to place and raise the tripod. Move the tripod itself to the requested position and height. Do not manually turn Falcon’s body to point it at the play area. XbotGo maintains separate sport-mode guidance for exact shooting positions and heights; those recommendations vary by sport and are the appropriate reference when the app asks for a specific placement.

Secure the tripod before recording
- Make sure every tripod section and the head lock are tightened.
- Confirm the quick-release locking knob remains tight after raising the tripod.
- Keep the camera’s view clear of nearby people, fencing, signage, and equipment that could obstruct the action.
- Once the position is accepted, avoid moving the tripod unless the app specifically asks for a correction.
Review recording preferences
The recording interface exposes several settings that affect how Falcon captures and tracks the match. Review them before the final start command:
| Setting | What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Tracking | Confirm it is enabled when you want automatic subject following. | Falcon uses its tracking system to keep play in frame. |
| Resolution | Select the resolution appropriate for the event and available card space. | Higher-resolution recording can change storage use and battery runtime. |
| Microphone | Choose the desired microphone state. | This determines whether the recording includes camera audio. |
| Anti Flicker | Enable it for venues lit by artificial lighting when flicker is visible or likely. | The option is intended to reduce lighting flicker. |
| Timestamp | Turn the timestamp display on or off according to the footage requirement. | The choice affects whether time information is shown in the recording. |
| Rotation angle | Set the orientation required by the installation. | This aligns the recorded view with the camera’s physical placement. |
Resolution, microphone, anti-flicker, timestamp, and rotation choices are recording preferences; they do not replace the calibration and placement process. Check them before the camera is left unattended because changing the physical installation after recording begins can compromise tracking.
Start recording without disrupting tracking
When the settings and tripod position are confirmed, start the recording from the app. XbotGo warns that manually adjusting the device after recording begins can lead to inaccurate tracking. If you need to make a lens or framing adjustment, use the monitor device and the controls provided there instead of turning Falcon by hand.

How Falcon’s automatic tracking works
Falcon’s tracking is described as AI-based rather than a fixed, manually aimed pan. XbotGo identifies a 6-TOPS onboard AI chipset for real-time recognition. Its FAQ describes the tracking pipeline as a combination of target recognition, pose estimation, and trajectory prediction. In practical terms, the system identifies the sporting action, estimates where relevant players or subjects are positioned, and predicts movement so the camera can keep play in frame.
XbotGo lists support for more than 10 sports, including soccer, basketball, football, hockey, tennis, and lacrosse. Select the appropriate recording mode and follow its placement guidance instead of assuming that one sideline arrangement will work identically for every sport.
Falcon specifications that affect a recording plan
| Specification | Published figure or qualification | Setup implication |
|---|---|---|
| AI processing | 6 TOPS AI chipset | Provides the onboard processing used for real-time recognition and tracking. |
| Battery | 9,600mAh | Plan charging and monitoring for the event rather than assuming the battery will cover every shoot. |
| Estimated runtime | Approximately four hours; varies with resolution and settings | The figure is an approximate manufacturer rating, not a guaranteed duration for every configuration. |
| microSD capacity | Up to 1,024GB | Use a card within this capacity limit and with UHS-I V30 or higher speed class. |
| Camera weight | 815g | Use a tripod and plate that can hold the mounted camera securely. |
| Rotation range | 360 degrees | Allows full horizontal movement within the camera’s mechanical range. |
| Tilt range | 160 degrees | Provides vertical adjustment range, but the camera should still be positioned through the tripod prompts. |
The approximately four-hour runtime is the only duration stated for the battery, and XbotGo qualifies it by resolution and settings. There is no single recording-time figure in the published setup information for a particular card capacity, resolution, or frame rate, so estimate available footage from the free space shown by the app rather than from the battery rating alone.

Troubleshoot common setup failures
Falcon will not record
The first check is the microSD card. Falcon cannot record without one. Power down if necessary, reseat the card, and confirm that it is a compatible UHS-I V30-or-faster card within the 1,024GB capacity limit. If the app still does not show available storage, do not start the match until the card is recognized.

The phone cannot find Falcon
Return to the supported pairing sequence: enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, open XbotGo App 4.3.0 or later, then use Device Connections > Add Device > Falcon. On iPhone, grant Local Network permission. Disable a VPN or ad blocker during the attempt. Joining Falcon directly from the phone’s Wi-Fi settings is not supported and will not replace the in-app process.
Tracking becomes inaccurate after setup
Check whether the camera or tripod was moved after calibration or after recording began. XbotGo specifically warns that manually adjusting the device during recording can produce inaccurate tracking. Stop only when necessary, restore the tripod position using the app’s prompts, and avoid turning the camera body by hand.
The image flickers under venue lights
Review the Anti Flicker preference. It is designed to reduce flicker caused by artificial lighting. The setting is a recording option, so check it before starting the session.
Streaming, cloud features, and costs to verify
XbotGo’s product information advertises free live streaming, cloud storage, and highlights. It also notes that some app features may be charged per match. Those terms can change, so check the current feature and price information shown in the app before relying on a particular live-stream or cloud workflow. The setup procedure above does not require a paid feature; it covers local recording to the microSD card.
For outdoor or wet venues, verify the camera’s current weather-resistance rating before exposing it to rain. The setup information used here does not state a weather-resistance specification, so do not assume that the camera or tripod is protected simply because it is designed for sideline use.
What to verify when comparing another sports camera
If you are deciding whether Falcon fits a particular team or league workflow, compare the operational details that affect a real match rather than only headline resolution:
- How automatic tracking identifies and follows play, and whether it requires a separate sensor or subscription.
- Whether the camera can be placed at the sideline height and distance required by your sport and venue.
- The required storage-card speed, maximum capacity, and whether a card is included.
- Battery capacity and the conditions behind any stated runtime.
- How the phone pairs with the camera and whether live streaming uses a separate app workflow.
- The camera’s native recording resolutions and how they affect storage and battery use.
- Published weather-resistance information for the conditions in which you will record.
- Any recurring service or per-match charges for cloud storage, highlights, or other app features.
Falcon’s published setup requirements are specific about the card, app pairing, calibration, and tripod procedure. Exact sport-by-sport height numbers, a weather-resistance rating, and recording-duration figures for each resolution are not stated in those instructions; obtain those details from the current sport-mode guidance or in-app documentation before planning a specialized installation.
