Short answer: there is not yet a public, customer-facing activation guide for USDC or EURC payments through Tereina in SAP. Circle and Tereina announced their integration on October 7, 2026, starting with SAP Cloud ERP and using SAP Pay as the named access route. The companies said they planned customer proof-of-value programs and specialist training over the following months. Before changing a production tenant, obtain written confirmation from SAP or Tereina about release status, eligibility, configuration, custody, supported payment corridors, costs, limits and reconciliation behavior.
What was announced, and what is actually available?
Circle and Tereina announced a partnership on October 7, 2026 to integrate Circle’s USDC and EURC into Tereina’s payment infrastructure, beginning with SAP Cloud ERP. The announcement identifies SAP Pay as the way SAP customers access the integration.
That announcement establishes an integration plan, not a published implementation manual. It says the companies intend to run joint proof-of-value programs with customers over the coming months and provide training for treasury and payment specialists. The public material does not confirm a generally available production service, a release date by country, or a universal activation path for every SAP customer.

Consequently, a responsible setup cannot be reduced to a list of SAP menu clicks. You need provider confirmation for your tenant, legal entity, geography and payment use case before assigning roles, funding a wallet or scheduling a payment run. Treat any screen, field or network detail that is not supplied by SAP or Tereina as unverified.

Choose the currency by the invoice denomination
The partnership announcement gives a narrow distinction between the two assets:

This is a denomination rule, not a complete product comparison. The announcement does not list countries, payment corridors, supported blockchains, transaction thresholds, fees, settlement times, custody models or customer eligibility rules. A USD invoice does not by itself prove that a particular company, supplier or bank corridor can use USDC, and a euro invoice does not prove that EURC is available to you.
Ask the provider to validate the currency against the legal entity paying, the supplier’s receiving arrangement, the destination country, the funding source and the accounting treatment. If a workflow can be settled in either currency, document who bears conversion risk and which exchange-rate source will be recorded in SAP. Do not infer those rules from the currency names.

SAP describes SAP Pay as an embedded B2B payment solution in SAP Cloud ERP, provided by Tereina. SAP’s general product description says payment activity can move through fiat and digital rails, remain associated with its originating ERP document, and support approval and reconciliation in existing SAP workflows.
Those statements explain the intended role of SAP Pay: it is the payment experience inside the ERP context, rather than a separate spreadsheet-based crypto process. They do not specify how the newly announced Circle assets are enabled. The public description does not identify an SAP Cloud ERP edition, tenant prerequisite, authorization object, configuration field, wallet enrollment screen or production-release flag for USDC or EURC.
SAP also says SAP Pay uses SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity (MBC) for secure bank communication and that approvals and reconciliation occur in established SAP workflows. “Digital rails” should not be read as proof that every digital asset, network or settlement route is enabled for every customer. Confirm the exact rail and service boundary in your commercial and technical onboarding documents.

Do not confuse SAP Pay with SAP Digital Currency Hub
Separate SAP Digital Currency Hub documentation describes an ERP payment-initiator architecture using SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity or APIs. In that model, authorizations and mappings are maintained for payment initiators. It is a documented SAP integration pattern for digital-currency-related payment initiation.
That documentation does not say that SAP Digital Currency Hub is the required activation route for the SAP Pay/Tereina/Circle integration. It also does not establish that the roles, mappings, APIs or screens shown there are present in your SAP Pay tenant. Use the documentation to understand a possible architectural vocabulary—payment initiator, authorization, mapping, MBC and API—but ask SAP or Tereina for the supported path for this specific service.
What the SAP demonstration illustrates
SAP’s demonstration description follows an example USDC payment through several systems:
- An open supplier invoice is selected in SAP.
- A payment run is created.
- The payment is reviewed in Payment Monitor.
- The user is taken to the Tereina portal.
- A Circle wallet and an on-chain transfer are used in the payment flow.
- The resulting cash position is viewed in SAP.
- A CAMT053 statement is posted for reconciliation.
This sequence is useful as a conceptual picture of how an ERP document, a payment service, a wallet transfer and a bank-style statement could connect. It is an illustration of a USDC workflow, not a promise that the same screens, wallet arrangement, statement format or controls are mandatory for your implementation. The demonstration description does not establish a EURC rollout, production availability, a particular blockchain or the configuration you must deploy.
A safe setup process for customers
The following sequence is a readiness and verification process. It deliberately avoids invented SAP paths because the public announcement does not publish them.

- Send SAP and Tereina the SAP Cloud ERP edition, tenant identifier, legal entity, countries involved and intended payment currencies.
- Ask whether the Circle integration is available to your tenant now, limited to a proof-of-value, or still in planned enablement.
- Request the exact SAP Pay entry point, required contract or order, environment availability and named support owner.
- Obtain written confirmation of whether USDC, EURC or both are enabled for your legal entity and corridor.
Do not treat a product page, a demonstration video or a conference announcement as a production entitlement.

2. Validate business and regulatory eligibility
- List every payer, supplier, bank, country and currency in the proposed flow.
- Ask which entity performs customer and supplier due diligence, sanctions screening and transaction monitoring.
- Confirm whether your industry, jurisdiction and transaction purpose are accepted.
- Identify who is responsible for tax, accounting and regulatory interpretation in each operating country.
The announcement does not publish a country list or eligibility criteria, so these checks must come from the providers and your own compliance teams.
3. Define funding, wallet and custody responsibilities
- Ask whether funds originate from a bank account, a provider-managed balance, a corporate wallet or another approved source.
- Determine who creates and controls the wallet, who can approve transfers and how keys or signing authority are protected.
- Document the process for supplier address verification, address changes and mistaken transfers.
- Request the supported networks and the rule for selecting a network for each payment.
Neither the announcement nor the general SAP description states the network, custody model or wallet controls. Do not fund an address until those details are contractually and technically confirmed.
4. Map the ERP payment lifecycle
- Identify the SAP document that authorizes payment, such as the approved supplier invoice and payment run.
- Define which user or role reviews the payment before it leaves SAP Pay.
- Specify the data passed to Tereina and the data returned after execution, including reference identifiers and status.
- Decide how rejected, pending, cancelled or partially completed payments are represented in SAP.
- Agree on the source and timing of exchange-rate data when the ERP document and settlement asset differ.
Use a test document and a non-production tenant for this mapping. The public sources do not provide field names or role assignments, so have the provider supply a configuration workbook rather than copying assumptions from another SAP integration.

- Define the identifier that links the SAP invoice and payment run to the Tereina transaction and any blockchain transaction hash.
- Confirm which statement or report is imported into SAP and whether it is a CAMT053 file, an API response or another format.
- Specify how fees, exchange differences, refunds and failed transfers are posted.
- Set an owner and a time limit for investigating an item that appears on the wallet or provider report but not in SAP.
- Reconcile a complete test cycle from invoice approval through cash-position update and statement posting.
The demonstration mentions a CAMT053 statement and an SAP cash-position view, but it does not establish that those outputs, fields or timing apply to your account.
6. Run a controlled proof-of-value
Use the provider’s planned proof-of-value program or an equivalent jointly supervised pilot. Select a small set of approved invoices, document the intended currency, and record every status transition. Include at least one normal completion and each failure case the provider supports, such as an invalid destination, a rejected approval or a delayed settlement.
During the pilot, measure operational facts that are relevant to your process—approval time, reconciliation delay, exception handling and accounting entries—without presenting them as industry benchmarks. Have treasury, accounts payable, security, compliance and SAP administrators sign off on the observed behavior.

7. Approve production only after evidence is complete
Move to production only when the service owner can show that the tenant is entitled, the legal entity is eligible, wallet and signer controls are documented, payment limits are configured, reconciliation has passed, and support escalation is operational. Record the approved USDC or EURC corridors and prohibit unapproved currencies or networks in your internal procedure.
Information to request from SAP and Tereina
Use the following questions in a joint technical and commercial review. They target facts that the public announcement does not answer.

Common planning mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming an announcement equals availability
A partnership announcement can describe intended integration without granting access. Require a tenant-specific availability statement and an onboarding contact.
Using the currency name as a compliance decision
USDC and EURC identify the settlement denomination; they do not answer whether a particular corridor or legal entity is permitted. Keep compliance and corridor approval separate from the currency selection.
Copying SAP Digital Currency Hub settings into SAP Pay
The Digital Currency Hub material documents MBC/API patterns, while the announcement names SAP Pay as the route for the Tereina integration. Treat them as related SAP concepts, not interchangeable setup instructions.
Leaving reconciliation until after payment launch
A transfer that reaches a wallet but cannot be matched to the invoice is an accounting and operational exception. Define identifiers, statement formats, fee treatment and ownership before the first live payment.

Ignoring address and signer controls
Digital-asset payments add destination-address and signing concerns to ordinary payment approvals. Require dual control or the equivalent provider-supported safeguard, test address-change procedures and document recovery responsibilities.
Publishing unsupported performance claims
The reviewed official material does not establish payment speed, savings, transaction capacity or service-level commitments. Use measured pilot results for your own business case instead of importing general claims.
How to interpret the wider SAP and Circle positioning
Circle’s announcement quotes co-founder, chairman and CEO Jeremy Allaire saying, “Stablecoins are increasingly becoming a core infrastructure layer for global commerce.” It also describes the SAP ecosystem as representing 84% of global commerce. That percentage is a figure from Circle’s announcement, not an independently verified measurement in the available material.
Tereina CEO Cedric Bru is quoted as saying, “Tereina is built on the core belief that the future of financial services is agentic, embedded, and digital.” This explains Tereina’s positioning. It does not establish the availability, economics or control model of a particular USDC or EURC payment flow.
What a production runbook should contain
Before go-live, turn provider answers into a versioned runbook that names the responsible team and the evidence required at each gate.
- Scope: approved SAP tenant, company codes, currencies, countries, suppliers and payment types.
- Access: administrator, approver, treasury, accounts-payable and support roles, with separation of duties.
- Funding: approved source account, wallet or balance, funding thresholds and replenishment authority.
- Execution: payment-run approval, provider hand-off, transfer authorization and status monitoring.
- Reconciliation: matching keys, statement or API import, fee and exchange postings, and exception queues.
- Security: signer controls, address allow-listing if supported, credential rotation and incident response.
- Operations: daily balance checks, failed-payment handling, refunds, cut-off decisions and support escalation.
- Change control: review requirements for a new currency, network, legal entity, supplier or SAP release.
Have SAP and Tereina review the runbook against their supported configuration. Keep a copy of the exact release notes and configuration workbook used for approval so that a later tenant change does not silently broaden the permitted scope.
Bottom line for SAP customers
The documented path is an announced Circle–Tereina integration beginning with SAP Cloud ERP and accessed through SAP Pay. USDC is the stated choice for eligible USD workflows, while EURC is intended for euro-denominated activity. A public, universal activation procedure is not established. The practical next step is a provider-led availability and eligibility review, followed by a controlled proof-of-value that proves wallet controls, payment approvals, settlement status and ERP reconciliation for your own tenant.
