To set up a Garmin CIRQA Smart Band, plug its module into USB power, install and open Garmin Connect, keep your phone within 10 m (33 ft.), and complete the pairing prompts in the app. A flashing purple LED indicates that CIRQA is ready to pair. If the band was paired before, remove it from the phone’s Bluetooth settings first, then manually reactivate pairing mode.

What you need before starting

CIRQA is a screenless smart band. Garmin Connect on your phone is the setup interface and is required for connected features and for viewing health and activity data. Garmin’s CIRQA Owner’s Manual, version 1 (July 2026), specifies the following preparation:

Requirement What to do Why it matters
Garmin CIRQA Smart Band Have the band and its charging cable available. The module must be connected to USB power to activate the documented pairing state.
USB power Connect the cable’s module end to CIRQA’s charging port and the other end to a USB charging port. Powering the module activates pairing mode during initial setup.
Garmin Connect Install Garmin Connect from your phone’s app store, then open it. CIRQA must be paired through Garmin Connect for connected functions and data viewing.
Short distance Keep the phone within 10 m (33 ft.) of the band while pairing. This is Garmin’s specified setup distance, not a guaranteed maximum operating range in every environment.

Do not begin by adding CIRQA from the phone’s Bluetooth settings alone. Garmin directs the setup through Garmin Connect, where the app can complete the device association and enable its connected features.

  1. Connect CIRQA to USB power. Insert the cable’s module end into the band’s charging port. Plug the cable’s other end into a USB charging port. The module powers on and enters the documented active pairing state.
  2. Check the pairing indicator. Look for the LED to flash purple. Garmin identifies a flashing purple LED as the indication that CIRQA is in pairing mode. If the LED is not flashing purple, leave the module connected to USB power and continue with the reactivation steps in the troubleshooting section rather than guessing at another LED color.
  3. Install Garmin Connect. Open your phone’s app store, search for Garmin Connect, install the app, and launch it. Sign in or complete any account prompts the app presents before adding the band.
  4. Keep the phone close. Place the phone and CIRQA within 10 m (33 ft.) of each other for the entire pairing process. Avoid moving the band away while the app is searching.
  5. Start device setup in Garmin Connect. Use the app’s device-add or setup flow and select CIRQA when it appears. Follow the on-screen instructions exactly; Garmin’s manual identifies the app prompts as the completion path for pairing.
  6. Wait for confirmation. Leave the cable connected and keep the app open until Garmin Connect reports that setup is complete. Closing the app or disconnecting power during the search can interrupt the process.

When pairing succeeds, Garmin Connect becomes the place to view the band’s health and activity information and to use connected features. The band itself has no display for completing setup, so the phone app supplies the instructions and status information.

Complete Garmin’s first-use flow

Pairing is the central step, but Garmin’s getting-started sequence continues afterward. Complete these actions before treating setup as finished:

  • Charge the device. Keep CIRQA connected to USB power as needed so it has enough charge for normal use. The setup material does not specify a charging time or battery-life figure, so do not rely on an assumed number.
  • Check for software updates in Garmin Connect. Open the device settings in the app and use its update option if one is offered. Garmin recommends current device software for changes and improvements affecting privacy, security, and features.
  • Start an activity. Garmin’s getting-started guidance includes beginning an activity after setup. Use Garmin Connect’s on-screen controls to select the activity flow available for your device and account.
  • Review preferences in the app. The official setup video covers connecting to Garmin Connect, finishing setup, preferences, and basic activity tracking. The exact labels can change as Garmin Connect is updated, so follow the labels shown on your phone rather than an older screenshot.

Pair a CIRQA band that was already paired

A previously paired band may not appear as a new device immediately. Garmin’s procedure has two distinct parts: remove the old Bluetooth association, then put CIRQA back into pairing mode.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

1. Remove the old phone association

Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings, locate the existing CIRQA entry, and choose the phone’s remove, forget, or unpair command. The exact wording depends on the phone. This step clears the old Bluetooth relationship before you ask Garmin Connect to establish a new one.

2. Reactivate pairing mode on CIRQA

With the band available, use either documented button method:

  • Press the device button quickly three times; or
  • Hold the device button for approximately six seconds.

Release the button when the LED flashes purple. Garmin states that pairing mode remains active until pairing completes. If it times out or you accidentally leave it, press the button to reactivate pairing mode and look for the purple flashing indication again.

3. Finish in Garmin Connect

Return to Garmin Connect, start the device setup flow, and follow its prompts while the phone remains within 10 m (33 ft.). Do not recreate the old association only in the phone’s Bluetooth menu; the app must complete the pairing for connected features and health and activity data.

What the purple LED means

For setup purposes, the important documented signal is a flashing purple LED. It means CIRQA is in active pairing mode. The supplied owner-manual guidance does not define a complete color code for every operating or charging condition, so avoid interpreting an undocumented color as proof of a specific fault. If you do not see purple flashing, use the power, button, and restart checks below.

Troubleshoot pairing problems

Start with the simplest checks and repeat the normal Garmin Connect procedure after each change. Garmin’s CIRQA support page links to general Garmin pairing-failure guidance; the actions below are general troubleshooting steps, not a guarantee that every failure has the same cause.

Symptom Action
CIRQA does not appear in Garmin Connect Confirm the module end of the cable is seated in the charging port, verify the other end is connected to USB power, move the phone within 10 m (33 ft.), and look for a flashing purple LED. Then retry the add-device flow in Garmin Connect.
The band was paired to this or another phone before Remove CIRQA from the phone’s Bluetooth settings, reactivate pairing mode with three quick button presses or an approximately six-second hold, and return to Garmin Connect.
The LED is not flashing purple Leave the module connected to USB power. Press the device button to reactivate pairing mode; if it had been paired previously, use the full remove-and-reactivate sequence above.
Pairing starts but does not complete Keep Garmin Connect open, maintain the 10 m (33 ft.) distance, and wait for the app’s confirmation. If it still fails, restart both the phone and the Garmin device, toggle the phone’s Bluetooth off and on, and try pairing again.
The app appears stuck after an earlier attempt Close and reopen Garmin Connect after restarting the phone and band. Clear the old Bluetooth entry before starting a fresh pairing attempt.
The band connects but data or connected features are unavailable Check that the pairing was completed in Garmin Connect rather than only in system Bluetooth settings. Garmin requires the app pairing for connected features and for viewing health and activity data.

A reliable restart-and-retry sequence

  1. Stop the current pairing attempt in Garmin Connect.
  2. Restart the phone.
  3. Restart the Garmin device using the normal device controls available to you.
  4. Turn the phone’s Bluetooth off, wait briefly, and turn it back on.
  5. If CIRQA was previously listed, remove it from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  6. Reconnect the module to USB power and reactivate pairing mode with three quick button presses or an approximately six-second hold until the LED flashes purple.
  7. Open Garmin Connect, keep the phone within 10 m (33 ft.), and repeat the on-screen setup.

If this sequence does not resolve the problem, use Garmin’s CIRQA support page, owner’s manual, and official setup video for model-specific assistance. The video addresses connecting to Garmin Connect, completing setup, preferences, and basic activity tracking.

Garmin Connect, subscriptions, and what pairing provides

Garmin describes CIRQA as a screenless tracker that works with Garmin Connect without requiring a subscription for that connection. Optional Garmin Connect+ features are separate from the basic pairing required to use the band with the app. Pairing therefore establishes the standard app connection; it does not by itself enroll you in a paid service.

The practical result is a division of roles:

  • CIRQA hardware: the screenless band and its button, LED, and charging connection.
  • Garmin Connect: device setup, pairing prompts, software-update checks, preferences, activity initiation, and viewing health and activity data.
  • Phone Bluetooth settings: a place to remove an old association when re-pairing is necessary, not the primary setup path.

Common setup mistakes to avoid

  • Skipping USB power: Garmin’s activation instruction starts by connecting the module to USB power. A loose connection can prevent the documented pairing state.
  • Pairing only from Bluetooth settings: A system-level connection does not replace Garmin Connect’s setup flow.
  • Ignoring the distance limit: Keep the phone and band within 10 m (33 ft.) until pairing is confirmed.
  • Leaving an old entry in Bluetooth: For a previously paired band, remove the old CIRQA entry before manually entering pairing mode.
  • Disconnecting as soon as the app finds the band: Continue until Garmin Connect confirms completion, then perform the update check and first activity.
  • Assuming the LED code: The documented setup signal is purple flashing. The available guidance does not establish meanings for every other color or pattern.

A concise setup checklist

  1. Connect CIRQA’s module to USB power.
  2. Confirm the LED flashes purple.
  3. Install and open Garmin Connect.
  4. Keep the phone within 10 m (33 ft.).
  5. Complete the app’s pairing prompts.
  6. If the band was paired before, first remove it from Bluetooth settings and reactivate pairing mode with three quick presses or an approximately six-second hold.
  7. After pairing, charge the device, check Garmin Connect for software updates, and start an activity.

When setup is complete

You can consider CIRQA set up when Garmin Connect confirms the pairing and the device is available in the app for its connected features and health and activity data. Keep the app available for future software-update checks, and use its preferences and activity controls for the parts of the experience that a screenless band cannot display on its own.
